Despite my hobby of writing, I'm not all too good with words, especially mincing them (that damn mincer always breaks down, cheap piece-a crap that it is), so I'll be short and to the point. Bad stories suck. Good stories don't.

Bad stories may include any of the following:

-Bad characterization
-Lack of grammar/spelling skills (Or, the lack of a beta reader that can fix them properly)
-Contrived plots
-Mary Sue characters
-End-All-Be-All original villians (DBZ, I'm lookin' at you)
-Corny jokes (that aren't cracked by the characters known for making said corny jokes)
-Sapiness that makes your teeth hurt
-The inclusion or insinuation of crying in nearly every paragraph of every chapter
-Pointless angst
-The complete and utter disregard of all established continuity for the sake of a plot (that isn't designated an AU or a "What-if?" fic)
-Any variation of "I suck, plz RR, thx!" in the summary
-Emoticons during the body of the fic
-Author's Notes during the body of the fic
-Anything non-story related added during the body of the fic
-Cheap/over-charged death scenes

And, last, but not least...

-Any variation of the "If I don't get X reviews, I won't post Y story anymore" threat ANYWHERE.

Of course, I'm not an English expert. I hardly expect that my little list should be taken seriously by any measure. I'm targeting no one story, author, genre, or fandom in particular, so don't get in a huff if you happen to think one of your stories may have one or two of those choices in there. I'm only stating weak points I've seen in bad fics before, and I've fallen for the same traps myself. It's all a part of life and learning, and all that crap. Bottom line, if you don't like it, either ignore it, deal with it, or change it. 'Bout all you can do. :hands out cookies and disappears:
