I think this covers things I like and Hate about fandoms. I am predominantly into Naruto right now though I may get inspired to write some other stuff sometime.

Beware of spoilers

1) Hate--Character Bashing. I hate it, utterly so. Especially if it's without good reason. If they give a good reason why they dislike this character aside from it being in the way of their favourite pairing or they're own sick impossible desire to be with them. That or not hate the way they, look good. If it's because you find them annoying say why! Or if you can't explain just say they just don't sit well with you.

Love- Character Development- I'm a slave to it. If a fan fiction author comes up with a little detail that seems to fit right in with the character. Or some little hidden quirk it's awesome. And having them grow and I don't mean like having Naruto go all emo like some people seem to think Naruto growing should be. But grow as in yes Naruto is still all positive and scary optimistic but maybe have him work with someone or pair him with someone that'll have him learn some patience. That is making my day and developing him in a way that is true to the show and character.

2)Hate- Mary Sues disguised as OCs- Those irk me, If you are going to put an original character into a fic balance them out give them flaws. Think about how characters have reacted to other characters if any of them have any similar traits. And no, You are not going to have them beating the big bad on their own. One of my Naruto ocs could possibly beat Orochimaru but that's only because her blood is poison, she can't be healed like most people can and antidotes are like poison to her. She'd be screwed over if she tried fighting any of the other big bad characters.

Love- Good OCs- Sometimes a fic does need them. Whether it is for interaction or giving a character more background and if they are well balanced or for a small role just to strengthen a development point on a character they work.

3)Hate- Blanket fics- Unless they explain that one of the major characters is away right away these disappoint me. Especially if the major character missing is one one or both of the other characters think of as a friend. It irks me when some characters don't even wonder what their parents or friends would think of certain relationships. L & Light fics that is my one irk with them shouldn't Light be at least worried what his dad would think about him going at it with his superior? And How is Sakura taking Sasuke and Naruto hooking up? Shouldn't she at least have some kind of emotional reaction considering she has been fostering a crush on both of them, she'd be bound to feel pretty dumb if they were both gay wouldn't she? How about doing things at Ichigo's house, his sisters are almost in the next room or the floor below aren't they? His Dad could sense Riatsu too which would make things awkward in a hurry.

Love- non blanket fan fics- You don't have to like drag in the other characters for everything but some mention of the other characters now and then. Maybe one of them wondering where the heck they've been. Things like that. Or in some cases Another character saving their butts in some way make for awesome in both rps and fics.

4)Hate-Bad characterizations- If you aren't going to have the character act like the character it isn't that character, do not call them that character in the story. Sasuke isn't an emo female dog, he's a jerk towards Naruto even if the two were in a relationship it would tone down but he'd still try to piss Naruto off now and then. Watch the series again and take note of the character.

Love- Informed authors- Not really anything to do with the thing I hate here but if the author of a fic does research on something their having their characters do. Be it some kind of sex or kink, ceremony, a style of dance or fighting. It sounds good, it makes it believable and really improves a story. And if whatever their doing is done safely and properly it is amazing

5)Hate- Random killing off of characters- Explain to me why or show me in the story in terms of development of the story and characters. Not because they'd get in the way or you didn't like them. Unless it's a big bad character you just don't kill off a member of the cast unless they already die in the canon of the story. And if you do have to kill someone off make sure there is no other way to go about the development you want, be it through the killing of, well in Star Trek terms the disposable crewmen. If you want the character to say something at a funeral and mourn see if you can't go about it that way.

Love- Side character fics- I love seeing different points of view on the goings on of different characters. Does Matsuda secretly speculate Light & L are going at it? Does Ten Ten think that while Sasuke is attractive something about him doesn't appeal to her? Does Hakuryuu secretly wish it was Sanzo that could turn into things so he could sleep more? Is Kiba scared of the goings on of Team 7? Those kind of fics if written well make my day.

6) Hate- People who whine about spoilers yet browse sites such as deviant art and FF.net or talk to people who are further ahead in a series than them about the series and are prone to forgetting where they are. Makes for awkward times rping or even speaking with them if they like give the death glare at you for letting slip that Jiraiya dies. and You've just gotten used to that.

love- good spoilers- if I get news of characters getting developed as you can see by my explosion of even more love of Sai from Naruto I am in a good mood. Even seeing other forms of characters and stuff it doesn't ruin it for me the only one that got me was Jiraiaya dying which made me sad because I love the character. It makes it easy to watch a series from any point and have some indication what's going on and still fun since you haven't actually seen the spoiler and how it plays out in the story and stuff.

7)Hate- Bad rpers- I said it. I have to since it's a big part of fandom for me. If I can't understand what you want in a storyline or can't rp with me if I'm being my interpretation of being in character. It won't work. I wanted to be Ino recently but a friend of mine refused to continue the rp after a certain point because she didn't like how I had Ino. The person didn't even say it to my face. I was portraying Ino after coming to terms with the idea of Sasuke being gay, and the person I was rping with was Sasuke trying to convince ino he wanted to date her. And she wasn't having any of it after in the rp hearing he was just dating Naruto out of pity she turns him down again. Sasuke was going to have to work to get Ino to believe he wasn't going to date her out of pity or just using her. Because I think Ino is a very stubborn character once she has something in her head she will stick by it, if she's convinced Sasuke is gay and has seen proof of that she will stick by that no matter how much she wants to believe him.

Love- and of course Good rpers- If one of the first conversations we have is regarding what we like what we don't like and are discussing a plot and bouncing off ideas and we are presenting different options and are flexible. it's great. If we can joke about when someone types the wrong name in a part with things like ((ohhhh it's a selfcest rp now, sweeet)) and go on with the day it's awesome.

8)Hate-Fandom discrepancies- This isn't a major hate but how tall are people compared to each other is something presented on various sites and is likely noticable on the show. It isn't that major but bugs me sometimes

Love-Little details- again just things about the characters physical appearence that don't get brought up or explaining why. Like why Kiba got the markings on his face in Shippuden. I came up with the idea he'd had them drawn on his face once as a kid and really liked them kept asking his mom to draw them on everyday. He then saving up for them when he was a kid and had a small fortune by the time he got them because he didn't know how much they'd cost as a kid. And again Scars, hidden tattoos, someone being sensitive to cold or easily sunburned. They are fun to come up with and amazingly fun to read.

9)Hate- Bad pairings-done bad- I don't care as much about this in art as I do when I'm reading. I don't think every character is meant to be together unless someone comes up with a detail or brings out a side to them that makes it work. And it makes it even worse if it's out of character.

Love- odd pairings- In the right hands done with the right reasons and dynamics they're really really good. And fun to see develop.

10)Hate- Close-minded people- No matter where they are they are not fun. Whether they will only read a certain pairing or flame everyone else or bash everything not het. They disappoint me.

Love- Fan Mixes- I want to find some and make some actually. I love music and characters and pairings and so many things. It's fun to see what some people think some characters would listen to and what songs people associate with the characters.

11)Hate- Bleach and Naruto Fillers- Please stop... they aren't even developing a character or doing anything in relation to the story anymore.. The only filler episode I love that I've seen is ep.101 of Naruto where they're trying to unmask Kakashi, that one is just WIN. I'd love it if they had more characters maybe training together or interacting.

Love- Nuanced characters in canon- Itachi, is a great example to me he makes you THINK, Like how he could have killed his clan, why he went through with that mission and just wow. Itachi, has done HORRIBLE things he's killed his own clan to save his village. He TORMENTS harms and just is a cruel man to his little brother, so Sasuke would kill him and steal his power so that he could survive against Madara. It makes me wonder if that was a back up plan because it feels like he would have done something or hidden something somewhere that if you were to look. The whole mission he had to kill his clan would be blown wide open and he could do something. The whole joining of the Akatsuki is probably be a self imposed mission to be a double agent gaining info on the Akatsuki on behalf of the Leaf village, and he'd probably be more than willing to leave and report any info he's gained to the Leaf Village . And the plan he had with his brother was a back up in case one of the counsel members found that evidence and destroyed it or it just wasn't found in time.

12) Hate- How immersed and attached I get to certain characters... Seriously. When one person I rped with did one of the things I hate being she had Akumaru die in a big fight I was all. Nooo! I wasn't even playing as Kiba with her and I was mad. And in fics if someone is getting used or abused I am right in there with the shock and horror. And that much more happy if they're on the road to recovering by the end. I cry ... And if Kishimoto ever kills Sai I"m probably going to stop keeping track of the fandom for a while in my disappointment and likely cry a lot.

Love- How I seem to be lucky in terms of finding good authors on LJ- I have really good luck here. I have yet to read something that presses a huge squick button to me. And or if it's a squick for me usually it's done well!

13)Hate- My lack of knowledge on finding good fanart besides on Deviant art and photobucket. I want to find more Sai Fan art! I don't care if it's on a japanese site! Some more Saiyuki would be nice too.

Love- How much I enjoy fandom without spending all that much just through reading fan fics and finding good fan art. I'm easy to please

14)Hate- When things don't get brought up or dealt with in fics. Especially concerning various pairings, be it that the characters status in certain aspects is lower than the others and they have a huge chip in their shoulder about it. age difference, ranking. Those things would get comments made about them.

Love- I have no idea how to phrase this short terms. While you don't expect a certain character to top or bottom all the time, it's interesting to see either the "weaker", smaller , Higher ranked, younger etc. of a pairing be the default top.

15)Hate- the idea that The person on top or bottom has to behave a certain way. I would think it takes balls to let another guy do ya, and that the bottom or uke always cries. WTF sex be it between two men two women, two aliens etc is about feeling good. unless you're reading something with a heavy plot that's about someone earning their bread or some other things through sex which I'll just leave you to that.

Love- When characters mention that sex is supposed to be about feeling good and enjoying the character they're with's reactions even if it's unexpected like it turns out that makes them sort of ticklish or they start giggling it's so adorable!

16)Hate- This might go in with character bashing but Assumptions or insults based on characters about how they dress. Uhhh if I had Ino's body I'd want to wear stuff like that too and she works to look like that so I would think she'd want to show it off.

Love- how varied the female figures are on the girls in Naruto. they seem very natural to me, that's also a thing I like about the characters on Avatar though I haven't had the chance to watch through it yet fully.

17)Hate- how I seem to find myself wanting to defend the Naruto Females a lot. Why is the fandom so stupid about it's women? They are never pleased about a girls behavior even if she has displayed the tendency to do something like cry about similar situations before. Or bash a character not crying. Saying a character is fat the list goes on and on and bothers me greatly. I have a Hinata like figure and I am not considered fat by most people, I have curves, so?

Love- Sai... yes he strikes again. Characters you can witness grow on a tv shows canon are things I can never get enough of. Seven of Nine, the Doctor, on Star Trek Voyager. Data, on Star Trek next Generation. those types of characters are just a big weakness of mine.

18) Hate- the lack of het in certain fandoms. I am sure I haven't looked in the right places but is it that hard to find Goku/Lirien? Or even Hakkai/Yaone? I'd be happy with just some gen fluff between Sanzo and Lirien because I love that scene while all the rest of the characters were fighting, Sanzo was feeding her meat buns. I died laughing and squealing at that scene.

Love- Nerds. And or silly dorky characters. that also can look really cool and kick your but seven ways to Sunday. Especially if they have glasses. Ishida, Isshin, Spirit, Naruto at times, Lee. All are just adorable.

19)Hate- seemingly one sided villains- maybe I haven't read the right spoilers but Orochimaru just creeps me out. He doesn't seem to have any redeeming quality about him at all or any good at all.. Unless you count inspiring gratuitous shots of Sasuke in next to nothing during opening and ending credits as redeeming which is close but no. I can't seem to understand him.

Love- Domestic scenes- I love reading characters cooking, reading, eating, hanging out doing day to day stuff just as much as I like missons. Saiyuki gets my love there and a bunch of authors make me happy with that.

20. Love- Love your fandom you enjoy the show enjoy what good you do find of it and if you can't find something write it or request it. You might be surprised who would be willing to. Kink Meme's and things are fun places.

Hate- If you're finding your fandom is irritating you be it through flamers or idiots just go over the fan fics you enjoy watch the good episodes of the show again. If you hate something why are you in the fandom? It's wasting your time on something you hate while you could be looking for stuff in a fandom you do like.
