A lady who has multiple swords and knows how to use them. I am an amateur writer and really do not have any desire to be more than amateur. I tend to meander in my writing experiments, some of which will never EVER see the light of day. And I am much happier for it.
I always try to play with something when I write, particularly the short ficlets.
For those who have become used to my little page breaks that look like swords, due to the site's recent spate of debugging, those have all disappeared. So, if you are reading along and suddenly there seems to be a change of scene with no warning... That's probably the reason why. I'm going to try to fix my currently running fics first, then scare up the older stuff
Works In Progress
Twilight Rising: I am going to have a go at writing something that may be called epic. This actually will have FR canon characters in somewhat leading roles, but not the standard characters. This will also be where I lay easter eggs here and there, not that I haven't already. (For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, an "easter egg" refers to a hidden reference. It's more commonly seen in graphic novels but sometimes shows up in prose too. Sometimes it's also called narrative economy. But I digress.) These are mostly for my own amusement and to keep my plotlines from getting overly tangled. Most of the references are back to my own fan-fiction, but they will be very small if that is the case. This is also developing into the longest written project I have ever done, so reader be warned the end is not in sight. It features characters from the Last Mythal trilogy and is the continuing adventures of the characters in "It's Just a Small Favor."
Due to a series of unfortunate events in canon Realms, Twilight has to be considered AU :( This would irritate me less if it was knocked out by something well plannned out and well written. Lucky me, I got neither.
Something All Unlooked For: This just popped into my head one day and would not go away no matter what I did to scare it off. So I started writing it, hoping it would get bored and wander away but it still hasn't (grump). On the plus side, it will probably end up being rather short (I hope). Right now it's on hold because Twilight Rising is proving to be a much bigger project than I originally anticipated. I'm also finding that this story just makes me happy every time I go to work on it.
Something everyone would like to see: Think of a character that did something really stupid. Now think of another character taking the stick of good sense and applying it to the seat of learning. That's what these are. Think of them as a purge valve. It beats the heck out of flaming. The characters up on it are as follows: Drizzt Do'Urden, because he is way too easy and he's asking for it anyway; Ryld Argith because he needs a hug and more imagination; Araevin Teshurr because someone needs to point out that drow are not the only ones who need sense knocked into them; Catti-Brie for the same reasons Drizzt is up here; Artemis Entreri because I have come to the conclusion that RAS screws up every character he wants to focus on worse that anyone really should; and finally Elkantar because I think that resurrecting characters indiscriminately and for little reason is one of the worst writing sins that can happen and because he is very left out.
Given the current means of finding stories about certain characters and the fact that I have so many of them, I am starting to wonder if I shouldn't break these apart and put them under their own titles. I think I'll test the waters there with the next few humor shorts...
Completed stories
Knife Work: Linndechir posted a challenge to present Artemis Entreri during a quiet time. I gave him a hobby. I think it turned into one the the best pieces I've ever written so far.
A Little Prank: Another humor short with two of the biggest smart alecks that Menzoberranzan ever produced.
A Job Interview: A humor short involving Kimmuriel and Jarlaxle with little point except I thought it was funny.
Hunter and Hunted: A story that I could not stop writing for a long time with an experiment with using canon characters under aliases with in the story. My alternate title was "How Jarlaxle found his hat."
Beyond the Nightfall: I wrote this, forgot it existed (because it took up 4 pages in a mostly full and abandoned notebook), found it again and decided to post it. It's a bit strange but then, what isn't? Anyway I didn't want to resurrect anybody but did not see why a spirit couldn't have fun too.
It's Just a Small Favor: A melding of two different D&D plots I tried running, surrounding a location inspired by Yosemite Valley and a town my siblings and I came up with. Gotta love the great outdoors. And now I have a nice sense of accomplishment now that it's done. Yay!
Dust Motes: My first foray into fan fiction. At the time, there were no stories about the characters from War of the Spider Queen and I decided to take the plunge and try posting with this.
Regrets: A direct response to the thrice bedamned Lady Penitent trilogy in the Realms. Someone needed to take a stab at why Corellon was nowhere to be seen until the end. The Seldarine know that Wizards of the Coast aren't going to do it.
In The Works
Richer and Poorer (working title): Valas Hune and Berg'inyon Baenre are stuck on a mission together for Bregan D'Aerthe.
A Conspiracy of Friends (working title): Zaknafein and Jarlaxle at various points in their lives.
