| Aideko |
Author has written 4 stories for Naruto. Hello! My name is Aideko and welcome to my little piece of FF.net, where I've been reading other's amazing works for some years now. I'm currently twenty-one and a junior in college, majoring in biology. I live on campus, but my home will always be with my family in Florida. Luckily, my school is only about an hour away from my house. I am the youngest sibling, with an older brother and sister, both of whom are married with kids and all that jazz. Our house is sort of a miniature zoo, consisting of two cats, Peanut and Zoë, and two dogs: a pug named Frankie and my chihuahua called Rocko. Obviously, I love animals. I would like to work in a career involving conservation biology where I can protect wildlife populations. Still, I'm keeping my future open for new possibilities; I know what I want to do (work with/save animals), I just need to discover the best route in order to get there. After I gradute, I plan on going to gradute school for, at least, my master's degree. I enjoy drawing, and I have a great appreciation for art history. If I wasn't to set on becoming a vet, I would consider something in that field as I love it so much. I also love to read. My absolute favorite author, who I worship, is Diana Wynne Jones. The first of her works that I read was Howl's Moving Castle in middle school, and I've been hooked on her ever since. I've read many of her other books over the years, but that one continues to be my favorite. Other books that I love are Harry Potter (I am obsessed), with the sixth book being my favorite, and Memoirs Of A Geisha by Arthur Golden. I also like to read about mythology and folklore. I've been a big fan of Greek mythology for as long as I can remember. Along with reading, I love to write. I hope others enjoy reading my works just as much as I enjoy writing them. However, I'm usually very busy with school, so it consumes a lot of my time. Because of that, I tend to stay away from multi-chapter fics and focus more on oneshots and drabbles. Plus, they maintain my interest longer, and I find them more enjoyable to write compared to full-chapter stories. So, where the hell are you? As I'm sure many of you keep wondering. . . I'm a full-time, third year college student -- and a biology major at that. Writing is simply a hobby for me, and I don't have much time to dedicate to it. School is my priority and it needs to stay that way. This doesn't mean I'm quitting or taking a hiatus, but it does mean you should expect irregualr updates from me. Plus, in all honesty, I'm a terrible procrastinator. Even when I have time to write, and I want to write, I still end up goofing off. But, I'm working on it . . . really. Random Facts: ~ My name, Aideko, comes from the Basque (a region between France and Spain) deity of air. Aideko could manifest herself to be both good and evil, for she could appear as a gentle breeze or as the violent winds during a storm. She was also known as Aide. Her double personality is what I love about her, for it reminds me of the duality in all of us, and how we can choose to be who and what we are. ~ I love cartoons, so I watch Nick and Cartoon Network more than any other stations (not including Animal Planet or the History and Travel Channels). My favorite American cartoons are Avatar: The Last Airbender and SpongeBob Squarepants. Of course, I still continue to love all the Disney classics and a bunch of old school Nick and CN shows as well. As far as Japanese animation goes, my favorites are Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, Samurai Champloo, Gundam Wing, Vampire Princess Miyu, Diamond Daydreams, Princess Tutu, Elfen Lied, Ouran High School Host Club, Pokémon, Red Garden, and movies by Miyazaki. ~ Other T.V. shows I enjoy include: I Love Lucy, various old-school Nicktoons, The Tudors, Family Guy, Planet Earth, Friends, Law and Order: SVU, King of the Hill, Fraiser, and Robot Chicken ~ I'm not much of a manga reader (nothing against it; I just think anime is more entertaining) unless the anime differs a lot from the manga or continues beyond the events of the anime. Such series include Sailor Moon, Naruto, and Ouran High School Host Club. I hardly read any western graphic novels, but I do love Jhonen Vasquez. Without a doubt, JTHM is my favorite comic, and I couldn't stop laughing throughout SQUEE! ~ My favorite movies are The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Bringing Up Baby, Galaxy Quest, Back to the Future, and Gladiator. ~ My favorite types of music are rock and classical. I adore Beethoven and also enjoy Mozart as well. Some bands that I love include The Proclaimers (who created my favorite song "I'm Gonna Be"), Evanescence, Nickelback, Staind, Korn, Nirvana, Vertical Horizon, and Three Days Grace. Some solo artits I enjoy are Josh Groban, Michelle Branch, Nanne Grönvall, Pink, and Vienna Teng. Also, being the nerd I am, I love to rock out to Disney songs. ~ Characters that I'm hopelessly obesesed with are Draco Malfoy, Gaara, Johnny C., Zuko, Hiei, and Kaoru Hitachiin. They are my all time favorite characters, and I can rant and rave about them all day long. ~ Other guys that deserve honorable mentions are Naruto, Kankuro, Shukaku, Kuwabara, Heero Yuy, Tamaki Suou, Mugen, Tom Riddle, Harry Potter, Ash Ketchem, Howl Jenkins (book only), Frodo Baggins, Commodus, Fakir, Aang, and SpongeBob. I usually like crazy/psychotic guys and/or cute, funny ones. I am a sucker for the misunderstood, redeemable, puzzle-like characters (bonus points if they have a tragic past). But, I also adore ones that can make me laugh. ~ My favorite female characters, in no particular order, are: Sakura Haruno, Matsuri (Naruto), Usagi Tsukino, Azula, Toph, Luna Lovegood, Sophie Hatter (book only), Eowyn, Relena Peacecraft/Darlian, Genkai, Lucy Ricardo, and Misty Waterflower. In the world of Disney, my favorites are Belle, Mulan, and Ariel. As you can see, I love strong, smart, funny, independent female characters. I find the typical sweet, shy girl stereotype to be quite annoying. It's boring, flat, and obnoxious. ~ I was born on July 31, 1988, making me a Leo by the western zodiac and a Dragon by the eastern one. I'm originally from Long Island, New York, but I've been living in Florida since I was three. ~ I'm not much of a talker, except when I'm around someone I'm comfortable with, or if it's concerning a topic I'm passionate about. At school, I hardly ever speak and I mostly keep to myself, except for a couple of friends. I can be described as sort of a loner. I'd rather be by myself in many cases, but I also enjoy being with my family and close friends. ~ I'll admit to being a rather opinionated person, and I'm not afraid to speak my mind. I'm very dedicated to my beliefs, and I put my whole heart into supporting them. I'm really big on protecting the environment and animal rights. I hate animal abusers. I wish I could beat their sorry asses in return since the punishments for such horrible crimes are way too light. I also support LGBT right, and I'm even more supportive of women's rights, which does include being pro-choice. Yet, even though I sound like it, I'm not a liberal. Rather, I'm just in the middle of the road, but most of my conservative beliefs stem from my patriotism, compared to religious reasons. As a Writer: I love writing about the strange, obscure, and underdeveloped. Minor characters are great fun because there is so little known about them, leaving more room for the writer's imagination. I really respect originality, (normally) loathing over used plots and common cliches. Because of that, I take "odd" as a compliment when it comes to my stories. Some may call it "crack," but I prefer to consider it as pulling the possibilities within a fandom. Still, I'm kind of a snob when it comes to canon. While I adore crack pairings and strange scenarios, I don't see those as excuses to completely change a character's personality or the laws within a fandom. I walk a very fine line, and I tend to be picky about how such fics are written. I have no desire to restrict myself to one genre. I find that to be very boring, but I do have ones that I especially enjoy writing in. For starters, I like writing romance fics, which is ironic since I don't consider myself to be much of a romantic. Maybe I am one at heart, and I just don't like admiting it. Still, I like taking the romance between two characters very slow. Seeing the relationship develop is much more interesting than having fics where the two characters are confessing their love by the second chapter. The only exception to this is where they are already a couple or if the fic is a one-shot. Also, I hate, hate incest on any level. It's gross. I can accept it in mythology and other fandoms where incest actually exists, but I strongly dislike non-canon incestuous pairings. It's already a major personal squick; I don't need fans to make it worse. I'm also not a slash, femslash, shonen-ai, shojo-ai, yaoi, or yuri fan unless the characters are originally gay. There have been exceptions to this, but they are very rare. Infidelity and adultery are other things I really don't like in fanfics. As for the common question pertaining to which pairings I support: I consider myself to be rather picky when it comes to supporting a couple. I can only go crazy over a pairing if there's definite love or a very specific chemistry. I don't like pairing characters just because they'd look cute together or their love would be oh-so dramatic. I need logic, interest, and development when it comes to supporting a pairing. Consequently, I normally prefer canon couples, but there are exceptions. The pairings I fully support are: ~ Naruto/Sakura (Naruto), Shikamaru/Ino (Naruto), Gaara/Matsuri (Naruto), Mamoru/Usagi (Sailor Moon), Kuwabara/Yukina (Yu Yu Hakusho), Fakir/Ahiru (Princess Tutu), Heero/Relena (Gundam Wing), Harry/Luna (Harry Potter), Ron/Hermione (Harry Potter), Aang/Katara (Avatar), Howl/Sophie (Howl's Moving Castle; the book), Tamaki/Haruhi (Ouran High School Host Club), Mugen/Sara (Samurai Champloo), and Ash/Misty (Pokémon). ~ I also have a soft spot for some crack pairings. They're fun, and they bring a different perspective to the readers. I wouldn't say I support any as possible couples, but there are some that I really like and support the idea of. Favorites of mine would be: Draco/Luna (Harry Potter; easily my HP-OTP!), Tom R./Luna (Harry Potter), Blaise/Luna (Harry Potter), Sasori/Sakura (Naruto), Kankuro/Sakura (Naruto), Kankuro/Ino (Naruto), Shukaku/Matsuri (Naruto), Kaoru/Mei (Ouran High School Host Club); Blue/Crystal (Pokémon; the games), and Zuko/Toph (Avatar). Yes, I know I'm wierd, and I love whoring Sakura and Luna around. For a more complete listing, see my Master List of Pairings in my LiveJournal. As for other genres I like to write for. . . Humor is always fun. As I write a lot of romantic stuff, I often throw some comedy in since I don't like making my stuff too mushy. I also enjoy writing psychological stories, character portraits, or just pieces that focus on a certain emotion. I like works that have a darker tone to them as well. If written well, they tend to be very thought-provoking. As a good friend of mine once put it: a part of my psyche is somewhat disturbed, however, I hide it extremely well. But, honestly, I believe occasionally writing something darker and heavier is good for you. Otherwise, you're just cheating yourself. Anyway, thanks for visiting my profile!
