Author has written 16 stories for Harry Potter, Yu-Gi-Oh GX, and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Name: Heleentje Age: 19 Gender: Female Country: Belgium Interests: Reading, Writing, Singing, Mythology, Philosophy, Languages, Anime AIM: Heleentje24 (feel free to add, but don't expect me to be online too often ) I have been writing for quite some time now, but I started writing very intensively about four years ago. All my original stories are written in my mother tongue and won't be published anywhere on the internet. I prefer writing fanfiction in English however, as to make a clear distinction between my original work and fanfiction. My stories are mostly angsty or introspective. Romance is something I very much like to read, but won't attempt to write myself, as I have no experience in that department. Any romance in my stories is unintentional (the exception here is Momentum, even though the romance wasn't my first concern). I try to always re-read my stories, but especially those that are written on a whim don't always get that treatment. I'm no good at writing multi-chaptered fics, and I've given up on that for now. Long stories aren't my speciality either, although I will try to make my newer stories longer than thousand words pure text. My computer has the annoying tendency to switch from Azerty to Qwerty (Belgium is one of those few countries where Azerty keyboards are standard). I usually notice mistakes made because of this (they're hard to ignore) but if I make them, I'd appreciate it very much if someone tells me. Same goes, of course, for other mistakes. I'm not a regular writer. During holidays I write a lot, but most of my plot bunnies tend to stay in my head. That said, writing is something very therapeutic for me, so most of my stories will include elements or philosophies that resemble my own (this is very obvious in 'Ataraxia' and 'Inevitable') I respect writers who manage to characterize characters accurately, because it's something I consider very important, even though I don't always manage to pull it off. Good spelling and grammar are also a must. Typos are something I am willing to ignore, as I make them myself too. I don't review often, and definitely not according to a set pattern, just when I feel like it. I therefore don't ask people to review my stories, as that would be plain hypocritical. More about that at the end of this profile. Stories: Tom: One-shot. I'd say it's the first fic ever written about Merope, but if I'm wrong, correct me. I wrote it because I had to write it. After reading HBP, I was so shocked, and so sad, I just had to. I don't really care about getting reviews for this one, it was enough for me to write it. The Silver Lining: My tribute to those who died in Deathly Hallows Inevitable: Tribute to Fred & George, combined with some of my own reflections Momentum: My first GX fic, and my second 50-sentences fic (the first one is about an original character of mine, so you won't see it here). I still have my doubts, but overall I'm pretty happy about it Ataraxia: My second GX fic, logically. It was something that turned out to be very therapeutic to write. For some reason, Judai is the easiest character for me to write. Badlands: Based on the last scene of Yu-Gi-Oh GX, and also my way to say goodbye to the series. The last scene was just too damn hilarious to not do something with it. Badlands and Crossroads share the same universe. More specifically, the events of Badlands take place the day before the start of Crossroads. And maybe an explanation for the USA setting is in order: While watching that illustrous final scene of GX, a light started burning somewhere around the area of my geographical knowledge. More specifically, something told me that the landscape type wasn't common in Japan. I showed the scene to my dad, who's better at geography than me, and he said 'Badlands'. Therefore, Badlands takes place in South-Dakota. Crossroads: Despite having told myself not to do so, I'm starting a multi-chaptered fic. Because the plotbunnies just didn't want to leave me alone. Finished as of 07/18/08. I'm glad, and sad at the same time. Shatter: Because the Gem Beasts are sorely underappreciated, and still completely awesome characters. Finished as of 12/31/09 (okay, actually it was already past midnight for me at the time, so 01/01/10) Imaginary: Birthday fic for Olynthus. Might or might not be continued in the near future (i.e. once I figure out how to format a continuation) Prism: Like Momentum, but for Johan this time. That's really all there is to it. Importance: Started out as a character study for Johan, but Juudai and Yubel proved that they couldn't stay away. Child's Play: I've had people asking me what happens afterwards, so I'm gonna say it here: if you want to know what happens next, watch the series. This story was written to be compatible with Yu-Gi-Oh GX as a whole and is, in fact, part of my headcanon. Reunion: The Park of Seven Hours, known locally as Parc de Sept Heures, is located in the town of Spa in Belgium, thereby proving that I am a complete and utter dork. To Cope: Because there needs to be more past!JuudaixYubel fic. Also a very cathartic fic to write. The original title was 'Negotiation', refering to the Five Stages of Grief. If you negotiate to give up everything for someone else, and the deal goes through, do you think that other person would be happy about it? So Far, So Good: Further proof that I am incapable of not writing for this fandom. Partially based on my philosophy classes and long discussions with a few people (you know who you are!) Throw the Dog a Bone: Another birthday fic for Olynthus (time sure flies), and my first shot at 5Ds. I think I may return to the fandom after SFSG. On a sidenote: Though I like receiving reviews, they're not that important to me, therefore, I won't ask for them. If you feel like you really want to review, by all means, go ahead, but I'd like to ask to give me some constructive criticism, 'cause I know I can definitely improve a lot. Though it's nice to get reviews that say 'great', or 'nice', it doesn't give me any real satisfaction. Please give me your honest opinion. You can go ahead and flame all you want, but I'll just laugh at it (and you) or ignore it. Probably the first... Seriously, flames make me laugh. (they also give me a sense of superiority, you wouldn't want to give me that, now would you?) | |||||||||||
