January of 2008. Time once again to review our understanding of that character of characters, Little Baldwin.

Oh, what to say about myself?

Well, I'm Little Baldwin, a Linguistics major at some university or other. My favorite foods are potatoes and sushi, but cookies are my weakness. I drink a lot of tea and coffee, and I'm proud. I hail from the Midwest of the States, so if you need a corn or soy bean hook-up, you know who to call. I like all things plaid and having to do with music and art. And I have a really good memory. Especially for conversations. I don't know why, but I seem to remember everything.

It really should be noted that I fall out of love with fanfiction.net a lot. There are spans of time where I leave and stay gone for a long while. I've said before that if I ever left again, I wouldn't come back, but look at me! I'm back. Sad. Turns out I can only ignore fanfiction for so long. So, though I may disappear, luck is with you, if you're hoping that I'm coming back.

Fandoms? Well, back when I was YOUR age, har har har, et cetera. Anyway. I've dabbled in many fandoms. There was a stint there with Inuyasha, which I hope I can live down. Looking back, I've also done Pirates of the Caribbean, Labyrinth (briefly), and a couple others of small import. I started out a looong time ago in fanfiction with Lord of the Rings. In many ways I still consider it "my" fandom, though most would disagree, and say mine is Ranma.

Which of course brings us to Ranma. I do so love it. Manga-verse, anyway. Ranma and Akane are possibly my favorite couple ever, and they are my OTP. There's so much to love in the Ranmaverse, and so little time. My passion for it burns anew each time I touch it. Which is why I'm here again. I realize, I'm a couple years late, to be starting out actually writing Ranma-fic, but hey! You do what you can.

Pet peeves? I'm a pretty low-key person, all in all. As a Linguistics major, language is a big part of my life (obviously). So that's where my biggest pet peeves show up in fanfiction - I have pretty major issues with ill-used foreign language in fanfiction - especially Japanese. Oh, God, no. I mean, as a fan of Ranma, there's only so far you can go without the baka, but honestly? LET IT GO, gente. Let it go. (And stop pluralizing Japanese words with an 's'. You don't have a stack of kimonos. You have a stack of kimono.) So leaving me a review that simply says, "kawaii!!1!", while appreciated, is probably not the best way to garner my respect. :P Anyway. It must be stated, that though I love learning other langauges, and it is my passion and possible life's work, my heart beats for English, and always has.

Current projects: My sprawling fic for NaNoWriMo, Invictus, which is basically just an awkward romance of epic proportions, with a little humor thrown in. It's with the betas now. :D Also, I have some one-shots lying around that I might tweak, as well as a couple of shorter chapter-stories that I want to finish. So if everything goes according to plan, things will be picking up, in LB Land!

...maybe. :shifty:

What happened to Pirates of the Badfic?

...ugh. I loved that story dearly while I was writing it, but looking back? Gyah. It doesn't matter that it was a story about killing Mary Sue's. Whatever part of me that thought a self- and friend-insertstory was entertaining for the masses has long since been bitch-slapped. Of course, it still exists somewhere online, as well as on my computer. I loved it intensely during that time period, and it was a labor of love. If you really have a driving need to read that old thing, contact me, and I'll send you the link.

Learning to show affection is no easy road, but Ranma and Akane must learn the difference between being conquered and being in love. School, rivals, awkward sexual tension, and a vague threat on the horizon: what are two teenaged martial artists to do?
