Author has written 27 stories for Earthsea Trilogy, Shakespeare, Chronicles of Narnia, Old Kingdom Trilogy, and Lord of the Rings. "Lirael recognized the two in front - the twins Sanar and Ryelle - the flawless embodiment of the perfect Clayr." - Lirael, by Garth Nix. Hi there! I'm a Canadian, born and bred, and therefore use Canadian spelling in all of my stories. I hope all of the extra u's don't put off any American readers! I've been writing fanfiction since I was four years old, when I saw Walt Disney's Fantasia and scribbled out a story about flying horses and ballet-dancing hippos. In all of my work, my goal is to be as faithful to the original material as possible, and so I put a great deal of research into my stories. If you spot any errors, please inform me. I alter the tone of my writing depending on which fandom it belongs to, with the style I use for Garth Nix fanfics being closest to my own. I reply to all of the signed reviews I receive, and welcome feedback of all kinds. If you have any questions, would like me to read or beta your work, or just want to chat, please PM me or send an email! My writing method: I am usually inspired by some detail that is not explained in a book, like a moment or person mentioned in passing, or a historical event that is not really described. This attests to the author's wonderfully detailed world and gives the reader some mental room to play around in. I start out by jotting down a rough outline of the plot, and then add to the level of detail as my imagination runs rampant. I then come up with the characters, trying to give them fully-formed personalities and histories. This process of coming up with a detailed storyline and fleshing out the characters is probably my favourite part of story-writing. My desk drawer is crammed with notebooks full of ideas for stories that never actually came to be written. For me, transferring the detailed outline into a coherent story is rather challenging; after writing a story or chapter I edit several times, often rewriting scenes or changing the order of things. This rather exhaustive process explains the sometimes lengthy period between updates. That, and the fact that Real Life takes precedence! Favourite Authors There are too many to list! Here is a sample, in no particular order: Ursula Le Guin, C.S. Lewis, Garth Nix, J.R.R.Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Jasper Fforde, Philip Pullman, Bruce Coville, Welwyn Wilton Katz, Anne Rice, Roald Dahl, Lewis Carroll, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, Charlotte Bronte, Emily Bronte, Jane Austen, Edith Wharton, Walter Scott, Rosemary Sutcliff, Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, Richard Marsh, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Ann Radcliffe, Jules Verne, Frances Hodgson Burnett, Rudyard Kipling, Dashiell Hammett, Virginia Woolf, Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, T. H. White, William Shakespeare... As you can tell, I like the classics. Fandoms I'm in an Old Kingdom phase, concentrating on short stories featuring past Abhorsens (and sometimes Mogget). I'm trying to get some C. S. Lewis done too, and usually write about Tumnus or Tumnus/Lucy friendship. I've written a humorous LOTR trilogy (the kind that's full of random insanity, but not against canon), two fics for Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea books, and a really bad Shakespeare story I wrote when I was in grade 11. I get a new idea for a story about once or twice a week, but very few of them actually make it to completion. Chronicles of Narnia My stories, in chronological order: Old Kingdom Trilogy My stories, in chronological order: Works-In-Progress The Tumnus Chronicles: (C. S. Lewis) This story will be eight chapters long upon completion (plus an epilogue), with each chapter being a season. It will provide glimpses into the life of Tumnus as a young Faun in the two years preceding the Long Winter. If I ever get around to updating, that is. I'm a terrible person. This thing has been on hiatus for a long time, but I've got to buckle down and finish it one of these days. Upcoming Stories I have many ideas, but the ones I am most likely to pursue are listed below: | |||||||||||||||
