Author has written 42 stories for Song of the Lioness, CSI, NCIS, Without a Trace, Harry Potter, Bones, and Life With Derek. This is my official goodbye. No longer shall my fingers type stories about the lives of other, manipulating and playing with characters created by people far more inventive than I. No longer shall I beg for reviews, bracing myself for the inevitable lack that I know I will find. I will no longer be lured into hoping for a good story-something that becomes a standard, something that makes me well known. I will no longer reflect bitterly on why I am not read, or why I am not liked. I will no longer wonder if I am a bad writer, or if the stories I write are too complex for the majority of readers. I will not compare myself to lesser (or, I suppose, better) writers, whose talent's I feel are lacking, but whose pages are filled with comments from friends, support from their peers. No, I will not be going back to edit 'To Have and To Hold.' At least, not now. I am tired and bitter, and with good reason, too. As I will not be posting anything else, I suppose it is finally my right to say this. The majority of the people on this site I do not respect. I find their writing immature, at best, and a gross injustice to the works they seek to emulate. The lack of basic grammatical knowledge is appalling, and the fact that so many people beta (apparently successfully), even more so. To the few writers who I like, who have managed to keep my attention with well written works with a sound grammatical basis, I envy you, and I shall continue reading your works, and reviewing when I can. I leave you with this, my invisible friends. I thank everyone who has ever supported me, and I do not begrudge those who disliked my works because of some intelligent reason (i.e. not because they didn't have sex). Not all of my work is good-I am not so foolish as to believe that. There is a lot of bad stuff here. However, I find that I am the most unsuccessful prolific author on this site. And that's annoying. It hurts. So, Goodbye, and Good luck to all aspiring writers. May you do better than I have. Emily, 9/11/09 Update 5/15: "To Have and To Hold" will be up by Next Wednesday, which I am officially making my update day. There, now you have it, and I'll be darned if I am to go back on my promise :) Update: 4/16/09: "To Have and to Hold" is on hold for at least three weeks, when finals have ended and I am home for the summer. To the few readers I have left, I am very, very sorry. My schedule is very busy, and I just don't have the time to write these days. Do not fear-it WILL be finished. I am currently a college student with zero time to write, or read anything, for that matter. So...I don't update much. I'm still working on the epic (ish) To Have and To Hold, although this summer, when it WILL be finished, it will undergo serious revision. It was started over a year ago, and let me tell you, taking a creative writing course does wonders with regards to making you even more critical. My work, it seems, is never done. At any rate, this will be solely for my pleasure. Few enough people have read it the first time around. I doubt very much that most will reread the thing. I've a large array of stories, although many are not exactly...good, I suppose. Still, read, enjoy. Don't be fooled by the very few reviews. I daresay some of the writings are better than the stories I've seen that have hundreds of reviews. They're more imaginative, and have better grammar than some, at any rate. (Really, I'm not bitter about being a little-read writer. I'm not...) It seems I was nominated for an award, or, rather, To Have and to Hold was. I'm quite honored, although I'll not bother with posting a link. There are far better stories than mine that you should vote for :) A QUICK LESSON IN GRAMMAR: It's never "blahblah." He said. It's "blahblah," he said/whispered/told her/etc. Just a small pet peeve of mine :) As of 2.21.08, the following stories have been edited for grammar and general crappyness: "Mistakes," "Unavoidable," and some other things, I think. I am slowly attempting to make my way through it all, starting, naturally, with the stories that can be saved. I have yet to brave "Twisted Adventure" or whatever the hell it was I called that thing, or "Gathering Courage." I did, however, add a lovely preface to the former story that some may find amusing.
