Hello there, I'm Emerald_Latias (duh.) and I'm probably guessing that you're here to find out more about me, so I'll give you some basic details about myself, and here they are:

- I live in a small town in the southern part of Ontario, Canada.

- I have natural blonde hair (Not kidding about that, it's actually blonde), blue-green eyes, and freckles.

- I like reading, writing original (and possibly weird) things, and playing video games, and if I think of anything else, I'll tell you.

- In terms of fanfiction, I dislike people who insert original characters/themselves in fics, only to either become a character's love interest, become too important and integrate as a staple to the already-established group, or all of the above (This applies mostly to non-alternate universe fiction). Also, I despise couplings that are impossible, illogical, or new pairings when the character is already set and linked to another romanctically (e.g - Squall with anyone other than Rinoa). ...Unless if it's Fire Emblem, then I don't mind as much because of the multiple pairing system.

- I like a whole variety of games, mostly the Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy series along with a bunch of others. I used to list them all, but it's gotten to be a bit of a hassle so I'm not going to bother anymore.

- As if you couldn't guess, I only write Final Fantasy VIII fiction (mostly AUs) and my favorite character of all time is none other than Squall Leonhart. The complexity of his character and the changes he goes through in the game is almost surreal. I respect VIII just on that alone.

(Final Fantasy VIII - General/Romance)

Summary - (AU) Squall has been waiting for the long weekend to arrive, but after something goes awry after his last period history test, will he and another unfortunate student be able to even get out of the locked up Balamb High?

Status - Complete since 22/01/06 (53,840 Words Total) - Phew, I've finally managed to finish this one... Thanks to all of my faithful reviewers who've taken the time to review my fic to make it better. Without you guys, I would have never accomplished this.

Locked Inside: Revisited

(Final Fantasy VIII - Drama/Romance)

Summary - (AU) Squall has been waiting for the long weekend to arrive, but after something goes awry after his last period history test, will he and another unfortunate student be able to even get out of the locked up Balamb High?

Status - In-progress - Last update 13/08/07 (5,645 Words Total) - Hi, just letting you guys know I'm doing a rewrite of Locked Inside without taking off the original. The plot and storyline will remain intact, only the wording, flow and interactions will be altered and improved because I'm such a perfectionist. Hah. Breaking Free

(Final Fantasy VIII - Romance/Drama)

Summary – (Sequel to Locked Inside) Squall’s finally gotten rid of his past demons, but there’s one that still remains – the part of him that can’t ignore how people judge him. When a predicament occurs and the he’s the center of attention, the judgement of others intensifies and Rinoa fears the worst for Squall… and their relationship.

Status - In-progress - Last update 23/08/07 (112,507 Words Total) - Woohoo! I managed to update this sucker five minutes before the midnight marker, yay! Not to mention updating on Squall's birthday is a pretty sweet bonus too. Hehe. Anyways, I hope you guys are wide awake for this chapter, 'cause it weighs in at over nine thousand words. Yep, you heard me. Nine big ones!

Update (05/10/07) - As much as I hate to say this, with the amount of time university is taking up, I can't update both fics simultaniously anymore and unfortunately, I have an easier time writing Reinventing Me than Breaking Free, so this one will be on hold until I have more free time and energy to do it. I hope you guys understand my decision.

Reinventing Me

(Final Fantasy VIII - General/Drama)

Summary - (AU) After enduring a major ordeal, Rinoa gets an opportunity for a fresh start when she transfers to another school. But when the students don’t see her for who she truly is, Rinoa takes matters into her own hands by enlisting the help of a reluctant teenager to reinvent herself. However, as the plan progresses, more will unravel than she ever bargained for.

Status - In-progress - Last update 23/08/09 (267,796 Words Total) - Yup. Just carryin' the tradition of updating on Squall's birthday and this time, I didn't cheat! Three cheers for not cheating?

Summary – (Companion piece to Pink December) Dr. Kadowaki tells her one thing, Rinoa says another. Up until that moment, denial’s been her only way of coping. Now, she’ll need to find another way. One-shot.

Status - Complete since 04/07/07 (3,501 Words Total) Yeah, I got distracted again with another one-shot. Hope you guys aren't mad. Hehe.

Raindrops

(Final Fantasy VIII - Tragedy/Hurt/Comfort)

Summary - Learning from the past doesn’t always allow us to avoid repeating it. Or so one man perceives. One-shot.

Status - Complete since 02/02/08 (5,282 Words Total) The one-shot bug caught up to me again. This one here is Squall-centric. Just as a heads up, it's kind of sad, but still readable none the less. Well..if it wasn't I don't think I'd put it up. Anywho, if you could read it and drop me a line, that'd be greatly appreciated. Poison darts aren't. Hehe.

To Call Our Own

(Final Fantasy VIII - Romance/Family)

Summary – (Companion piece to Raindrops) A name defines who you are, gives you a place in the world. Rinoa decides that their unborn child deserves a place in the world too.

Status - Complete since 15/06/08 (4,241 Words Total) Oops. Forgot to put this one on my bio when I wrote it. My bad. But basically, it's like Raindrops anti-thesis even though it's the companion piece to it. If you're looking for something happy, this would be a good one to look up.

Let Me Go

(Final Fantasy VIII - Drama/Romance)

Summary – Post-game — (Squall x Rinoa) Fairytales don’t always come whenever a knight sweeps you off your feet and rides off into the sunset. Sometimes, real life gets in the way and you have to get away from the sunset. One-shot.

Status - Complete since 21/09/08 (7,446 Words Total) Yep, I've been thrice-bitten by the one-shot bug (not including the companion pieces). I felt like rounding the main one-shots as a trilogy, sharing thematic elements. But, really, it's just so cool that I can say that I have a trilogy now. It sounds kind of epic, no? Well, maybe epic can't describe these three, but it's still as cool as hell. Getting back on topic (was I ever on topic to begin with?), I thought I was being clever by using a 3 Doors Down song which the title relates to the story and so does parts of story that they made for the song's music video. Cool, no? Yes.

Three Random Tidbits About Me -

1) Why do you sign with Emerald_Latias in your reviews when your username's Emerald-Latias?

Even though my username on here is technically Emerald-Latias, I normally sign with Emerald_Latias whenever the site allows the underscore to show up.

-The reason?

It's because that's the way I had it written when I first used it as a username for a different site a long time ago and I prefer it that way, actually. But for some sadistic reason, FFnet wouldn't let me keep the underscore so I had to make due with the hyphen.

2) What's the origin of your username?

The 'Emerald' part of my name owes to the fact that my birthday's in May and the emerald is my birthstone. The 'Latias' portion in my name is actually a Pokemon, but I kept it despite the fact that I'm older because after using this name for many years, I've grown rather attached to it. And in case if you're wondering, a Latias is a red and white dragon-like Pokemon from the Ruby/Sapphire era that's always female. And the hyphen (if I had it my way, I'd be saying underscore) makes it all neat and separated. Creepy knowing the truth, isn't it?

3) Who are your favorite author(s)?

Douglas Coupland and Laurie Halse Anderson - They've both have the kind of humour, wit and quirkiness that I just adore in fiction. Hm...I suppose that could be the reason why I write such odd things. Just maybe.

4) Will you beta or give pointers for my story?

Hey...wasn't this only supposed to be three questions, not four? Oh well...better not question things... To answer the question, I'd be happy to do either, just send me a message or e-mail (both can be found at the top of the profile) and I'll respond as quick as I can. Just be aware that if you want pointers, pointers are what you're going to get; I won't hold back and sugar-coat it (I'll be tact about my findings though).
