Hey, I'm eloquentsilence. Or at least that's my penname.

And I've decided that it was time for a profile change, so here we go.

Let's see, I'm 20 years old and from New Jersey. I'm also a junior in college.

I also post stories at Unknowable Room. But anything I've posted there, I also post here.

This is, by far, the most boring profile ever. And, for that, I am sorry.

UPDATE (01.08.08)

So, that story Dealt I had mentioned before? I took the idea that started that, changed it around a lot, and now I've got a brand new (and posted) story, In the Cards. Basically, Dealt was supposed to be Lily's diary in her seventh year. Each chapter title was a different tarot card that reflected the events of the chapter. And the plot (aside from the whole Lily and James getting together thing) was Lily wondering about these tarot card readings that she was doing in Divination. It wasn't really working out the way I wanted it to and it was too much like many other stories out there. So, I stopped working on that story.

Instead, I ended up with In the Cards, which I like much better and is definitely more original. The story is really a collection of anecdotes that an observant tarot card reader has about different people that have come in for his services. Each chapter is named after a different tarot card and deals with a different character from the book who best exemplifies that card. And on that note, please check it out if you'd like.

UPDATE (10.21.07)

I have made absolutely no headway on the story Dealt that I mentioned in the previous update. What does this mean? Probably that I'm never going to post it. I say "probably" because there is always the slightest chance that I'll have the urge to go back to it and fix it up and post. But I don't think that will be any time soon.

Also, since I last updated, I posted The Lost Interview, an interview which takes place where Brief Interviews left off. That one-shot is for a Scrivenshaft Challenge Cycle XIII at Unknowable Room. I've been asked if I planned on continuing Brief Interviews past even this additional one-shot. The answer is that I am not planning on doing that. However, if I do get an idea that would work well in an interview sort of scenario, I might consider it.

Final Glance, another short story I posted since the last update, is completed and deals with saying good bye for the last time. It's not really like other things I've written, I don't think.

Finally, the two stories I'm working on now are Memoirs of a Rat and The Top Ten, both of which are entirely different from each other. Memoirs of a Rat is a story told from Peter's point of view while he's living at the Weasleys. It's basically his life story as told by him. I've got a few chapters up right now and there will be three or four more chapters added on to that, I think. It's a bit different for me in that I'm writing entirely from Peter's point of view and that's not something I've ever done before. The Top Ten is basically a compilation of various "Top Ten" lists that characters have made. They range from humorous points to more serious points. Basically, each lists contains a few little anecdotes about a character's life and is written in that character's voice.

Anyway, that's all I'm really working on now. So, if you've read this entire update, I applaud you and check out some of my new stories if you would like.

UPDATE (07.24.07)

So, the final book has come out (I loved it, by the way). But this update is not about that.

Moving on, if you have been reading Brief Interviews, you might have noticed that I recently finished it. As of right now, I have no plans to continue The Risk, although I will keep the option open. I'm very sorry about that. I hate it when authors abandon stories and, now, it seems like I'm becoming one of them.

As of right now, I have another story partially written, as in the first three chapters pretty much complete. I don't know if I will ever post it, though. But, to humor you, I will give you a (very) rough preview of the new story (yes, the one that you may or may not ever see). The story is written in a diary format from Lily's point of view. It details her seventh year at Hogwarts. Basically, the idea has definitely been done before. The unique aspect of the story is the plot, which I do not think has been done before (although I could be wrong). The story is called Dealt. And, with that fun preview, I will leave you to decide what the plot could possibly be.

UPDATE (04.02.07)

All right, so, if you've been reading other stories of mine, you might have noticed that I've introduced a brand new one (Brief Interviews) even though I was in the middle of The Risk.

There are a few reasons for this. First, I really didn't like the direction The Risk was going. It was not very enjoyable to write and, in all honesty, I didn't think very highly of it. Second, I got the idea for Brief Interviews kind of randomly about two weeks ago and was really interested by it. As such, I've already written the first 20 chapters (and prologue), planned out the next 6, and still have plans to continue past that.

I really hate it when people abandon stories, so I'm not going to say that I've completely abandoned The Risk. But I definitely have taken a serious break from it. Will I come back to it eventually? Perhaps. So, I'm sorry to anyone who was reading that story.

On a brighter note, I'd like to talk a bit about Brief Interviews. The basic background to the story is outlined in the prologue, so you can read it there. To add to that, though, the story is a collection of interviews that describe James' and Lily's time at Hogwarts, mostly in relation to each other. Each chapter is its own interview (so each chapter is on the short side) and so far, I've interviewed Lily, James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, and Snape. I don't really plan on interviewing people outside of that group, but it is a possibility.

Also, the interviews are not presented in order, so you could read one from sixth year and then the next one might be from second year. There is a reason for this - the interviews are a way for me to reveal things to you. So, just like in a normal story, there might be a reference back to something that happened a long time ago. Here, instead of just a reference, you'll read an interview about it, sometimes from that time.

Just a note: not all of the interviews are solely about the relationship between James and Lily. Since their relationship was not all that happened at Hogwarts while they were there, I will be talking about other events that happened. And, in talking about other events, I might be touching on issues that are a bit more serious than you would normally find in a story categorized as "Humor".

Anyway, I hope you read Brief Interviews - it's the story I am most proud of. Also, the one I enjoy writing the most, which I think shows in the writing. Plus, I update the story very frequently (once every two days or so) and I plan on finishing it (which is always a good thing).
