Author has written 2 stories for Code Lyoko, and Kim Possible. December 18, 2006 I’m sure you are all tired of my excuses so I won’t go into them. I just wanted to mentioned that I just submitted the first chapter of my new story, “LD:100”, a Kim Possible fic. Does this mean that “Odd of the Dead” is an abandoned project? No. I insist on finishing it eventually, but right now I have the creative urge to work on this project as well. Perhaps I can pull in a new fanbase in with “LD:100” and they’ll inspire me to finish it. “LD:100” won’t be as extensive a project as “Odd of the Dead” as it will probably only be about a little more than half of it’s length, but it will be a nice, beefy story regardless. Well, it’s pretty late over here on this end so I’m going to wrap this up. Enjoy “LD:100”. February 1, 2006 You got to hand it to me, I know how to keep you all on your toes. Chapter Eight of “Odd of the Dead” titled “Who Died and Made You King of the Zombies?” is up. Thanks to everyone who sent in their reviews and PMs asking me to continue this story. You’ve been a biggest inspiration to keep writing this (beer coming in a close second). I also got to thank the people who run the “Detailed Greatness” C2 for adding “Odd of the Dead” to their collection. I seriously appreciate it. On the topic of Code Lyoko and zombies, did anyone catch that season 2 episode “Attack of the Zombies”? Oh man, they so stole my beep! Heh, just kidding, but you got to admit, there were some suspicious resemblances. Well, it’s getting late so I’ll make this quick. I’ll try to finish up “Odd of the Dead” soon. I got two more chapters slated to write if that gives you any indication to how far along I am. Until then, happy reading.
The douche is back! SorryI've taken so long everyone, I’ve been busy working on some original works of fiction, but don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about you guys. Chapter seven of “Odd of the Dead” (entitled “Welcome to the Rapture”) is now available! It’s slightly shorter than usual, but only slightly. Furthermore, it’s less comedy oriented and more along the lines of action/drama. I’m sure you’ll like it though. More news for you all in the ever-active world of zombies: In case you live in a cave, you may have noticed that the new George A. Romero film “Land of the Dead” is now out and it’s as sweet as can be! If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out this brilliant zombie flick, than I highly recommend getting off of your rear and heading straight for the Cineplex! Well, I’m a little busy at the moment so I won’t tie you all up. I hope you enjoy the new chapter. See you soon! March 23, 2005 Rejoice! The sixth chapter of “Odd of the Dead” is now ready for your reading enjoyment. Titled “A Throat Lozenge, a Nickel, and a Wish”, it’s less on the action and heavier on the drama/comedy, but fret not gore-hounds, I intend for chapter seven to be a rather gruesome romp. I just recently finished reading Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger”, which is the first book in a seven-book epic. I strongly recommend it for anyone who likes fantasy, but is rather tired with the whole Lord of the Rings rip-off cliché fantasy sub-genre. Right now, I’m reading Douglas Adams’ “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”. I would have started on the second Dark Tower book, “The Drawing of the Three”, but with “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” movie coming out in about a month, I figured that now would be as good a time than any to pick it up. It’s an absolutely hilarious book; certainly some of the funniest stuff I have ever encountered on any media format. Pick it up now (I got a copy of it on paperback for a measly 7.50) and read it. It’s a rather short read so it shouldn’t take you more than a week to finish, regardless of your schedule. Some of the more eccentric readers could finish it in one sitting. So pick it up and read it so when the movie comes out, you’ll have a stronger opinion on the film than your illiterate friends. :P That’s it! Enjoy the new chapter faithful readers and don’t forget to bring a towel. March 2, 2005 Chapter Five of “Odd of the Dead”, titled “Stuck Between a Cellphone and a Hard Place” has been submitted. It’s the biggest chapter so far at 6000+ words. Good thing I split it and Chapter Four up ‘eh? Check it out and don’t forget to leave your two cents on the way out. Also, as you will notice in the beginning of Chapter Five, I decided to dedicate “Odd of the Dead” in the memory of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. It’s not much, but it’s the least I can do to show my appreciation for the man. For those of you who didn’t know Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, he was an accomplished journalist and novelist whose many great works include “Hell’s Angels”, “Fear & Loathing on the Campaign Trail”, “Better Than Sex”, “The Great Shark Hunt”, the Gonzo Papers Collection, and “Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas” which was later made into a phenomenal motion picture in 1998 that starred Johnny Depp, Benicio del Toro, and was directed by Terry Gilliam. As coincidence would have it I started “Odd of the Dead” with a quote by the Good Doctor himself. His wonderful writings inspired me to begin writing myself and I would recommend his work to anyone interested in literary art. I have Spring Break coming up next week so I’ll have some bonus time to work on my story. Rejoice! So until Chapter Six, see you next time. Also, for those of you who want to talk to me personally, I hang out at both the Code Lyoko forum at TV Tome under the screen name of "Cyrus_LaVey" and the Animation Insider forums under the screen name of “Captain Fun”. Until then, take it easy. February 18, 2005 Yeah, I’m a douche. That goes without saying. More than a half-a-year without an update. Please forgive me. College and my crappy job have been consuming my time like a fat kid at an all-you-can-eat buffet. But not a day went by when I wasn’t thinking about this story, and here it is! I was inspired the day before by a woman named Tayari Jones who wrote the novel “Leaving Atlanta” (which I highly recommend you read; it’s a wonderful work). I met her at a reading and open interview at my campus and I was inspired by her “You’ve got to finish what you’ve started” attitude. She was even nice enough to sign my copy of “Leaving Atlanta”. JOY! I hope you enjoy “Chapter 4: Prelude for a Booty-Whooping”. I know it’s heavier on the dialogue and a little more wanting on the action, but trust me; as the title says, Chapter 5 (which I’ve already stated working on) will be all about the zombie-blasting carnal pleasures you’re waiting for. I intended to put both Chapter 4 and 5 together, but it was getting pretty long, so I decided to break them up. By the way, on the issue of zombies, for those of you who’ve been living under a rock the past few months, “Resident Evil 4” is out on the GameCube and it makes up for every other crappy Resident Evil game that has came out prior to it to the fifth power! Also, “Doom 3” hits the X-Box next month for all you folks out there that didn’t have the PC-power for the game’s initial release. Get ‘em both! (Does the Thriller dance) Lastly, I got my wisdom teeth removed this morning. I feel much better now, but my jaw still aches and I’m still reduced to having to eat oatmeal through a straw for the rest of this weekend. Don’t expect an update until my condition improves about a week from now. That’s it. Tell your friends that “Odd of the Dead” isn’t…um…dead. Rather, it’s still alive, kicking, and feasting upon the flesh of the living. Peace. August 14, 2004 There seems to be a bit of confusion in regards to some people and “Odd of the Dead”. I want to take the time to possibly clear-up some of those issues. First, we are on Chapter 3. I know it says that there are five chapters, but the first two were my notes on the story and the second my Prologue. The story doesn’t officially start until what is recognized as Chapter 3 (which is actually “Chapter 1: Bad Craziness”). I listed them as such in order to avoid confusion, but it doesn’t seem to be working for some people. Please take note of this for future reference. The “real” chapters don’t begin until what is recognized as Chapter 3 (listed as “Chapter 1: Bad Craziness”). Secondly, everyone who were in the closet at the end of “Chapter 2: Resident Sissy” have moved into the science classroom. I made sure to mention this in the first sentence of the first paragraph of “Chapter 3: Napalm Re-Death”… “The group had moved into a large science classroom on the second floor of the classrooms.” I made sure to state this clearly in the beginning of the chapter to avoid confusion, but it seems that people are either getting ahead of themselves in their reading or are forgetting the events of the previous chapters. “Odd of the Dead” is designed to be a bit more complex of a read than most stories on FanFiction.net so be careful and not get ahead of yourself in your reading. Third, and lastly, no, Tamiya and Milly are not dead. They are still alive and trapped in the dormitories. I hope this helps anyone who has been having queries with “Odd of the Dead”. Again, let me remind you that I will be out of town all of next week, so don’t expect any new chapters until next weekend. I intend to work a little on “Odd of the Dead” while I’m out of town so don’t be surprised if I greet you with two new chapters upon my return. That’s all. Enjoy “Odd of the Dead”. August 11, 2004 This is your good captain speaking. Chapter 3 of “Odd of the Dead” has now been posted. Sorry for the delay, but I’ve been having some computer issues. Let me just say that you should never, ever, EVER use the automatic driver updates for Windows XP. I don’t know how it did it, but when I installed it with the automatic Windows updates, it completely trashed my DVD-RW driver. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, uninstalling the driver updates, calling tech support; Crap, I even went as far as to ask the people at Best Buy what to do, but they couldn’t figure it out either! Eventually, I gave up, backed-up all my important files, and completely restored Windows XP. The thing is that it was Windows XP Home Edition and it didn’t come with Microsoft Office installed and I restored it on Friday night. My campus library, where I can go to get it installed, was closed for the weekend, so I had to wait until Monday to get it reinstalled. The moral of this story: Never, ever, EVER install the automatic driver updates for Windows (unless you really need them), cause I know I won’t! I picked up a copy of “Dawn of the Dead” the other day on DVD (yes, the original 1978 version, so don’t ask). Me and “temjinxzarron” got together the other night and watched it. It’s been a long time since I had seen it and it’s really hard to find it on DVD, so I’d like to consider myself lucky. It’s one of the many films that inspired “Odd of the Dead”, so I highly recommend checking it out if you’re fortunate enough to find it on DVD yourself. I think they’re releasing a special 4-disk Special Edition of it next month, just a month before the 2004 remake (which was also awesome) hits the shelves, so keep an eye out for it. I don’t know how many people, like me, have gone out and got Doom 3 yet, but if you are considering going to pick it up soon, let me offer these words of caution. If your gaming system is running on an ATI card, beware. If you don’t have the latest Catalyst display drivers, the game will most likely freeze or crash every 5 minutes (like it did for me). I have a Mobile ATI card and it’s not compatible with the Catalyst drivers so I had to get the Omega 4.5 driver instead. Once I installed it, the game worked like a charm. So if you have, or are having this problem, go and get the proper drivers installed. Now you know…and knowing is half the battle (cue “G.I. Joe” music). One more thing, and I’ll leave you all to read the new chapter, I’m going to be out of town this weekend and most of next week. Though I might be able to have time to work on my story, I most likely won’t have access to the Internet so I won’t be able to post them. When I come back next weekend, I may have a chapter or two ready for you all, so be patient with me. Good things some to those who wait. Well, I’ve already talked WAY too much. Enjoy Chapter 3 of “Odd of the Dead”. (packs his things and prepares for his last week of Summer vacation) August, 4, 2004 This is your good captain speaking again. Chapter 2 of “Odd of the Dead” has now been submitted. Please enjoy. I would also like to take this time to thank my friend “temjinxzarron” for all of his support. For those of you who don’t know him, he too is a fan fiction writer on this website known for his wonderful Naruto stories. I strongly urge that you go check them out. And one more thing for all you zombie-lovers out there (like yours truly), Doom 3 is now out on the PC. As your Captain, I strongly advise you to go out, grab yourself a copy, and play the living crap out of it. I know I will (on a related note, it may take me a bit longer than usual to get Chapter 3 ready, heh, heh). July 31, 2004 The Prologue First Chapter of "Odd of the Dead" are now available. Please leave me some feedback. Watch out for Chapter Two comming this week. July 29, 2004 Greetings everyone. This is your good Captain speaking to tell you that the Prologue and first chapter of my first fan-fiction, "Odd of the Dead" (based on the animated television show “Code Lyoko”) will be up on August 1st. Tell your friends...or I'll follow you home and kill your dog. | |||||||
