Hi everybody! I'm a mad italian that loves reading fanfictions and just started writing on her own! I like reading and writing fanfiction because it frees my imagination, gives me the opportunity to set stories and characters as I dreamed them and develop them.

My name is Laura and I'm a 24 years old student who attends Ca' Foscari University in Venice; so please be patient with my english, I'm trying my best here.

Reading is my favourite activity in my spare time, I go crazy everytime I enter a library or a book shop, my family and friends have to practically drag me out. I enjoy both classic and modern litterature, fantasy, science fiction, esseys... my curiosity has no limits!

But my real passion is art: I like drawing, painting and everything that is related, visiting a museum with me is lifethreatening, you could risk getting stuck after the closing time (I really got close on more than one occasion); that's probably why I'm studying chemistry for the conservation and restoration of artistic artifacts : )

And that's where my love for manga, comics and graphic novels fits! I started getting interested in them when I was a teenager (around 12 years old) because the drawings fascinated me and then I was captured by the plots and characters. I must say I prefer manga and novels to comics, I get bored after sometime if there isn't an ending and characters keep popping and resurrecting out of nowhere. Anime and cartoons are a different world alltogether to me, they're like good friends who accompanied me during the years on my faithful TV ; ) I remember how we used to talk about them between us "Hey! Have you seen the latest XXX episode yesterday? Wasn't it cool?" Now it's even better because people is starting to understand that these shows aren't just child's play, they can be interesting for adults too!

After discussing it with many friends and fellow authors on the net, I feel compelled to give my opinion on the subject of yaoi, shounen ai and yuri works. I have found a small number that are to my liking, but I dislike the majority of them. It's not because I have issues against gay or bi people, or because they aren't well written. I just can't stand seeing characters that are straight in the series portrayed as anything else, usually tainting great friendships, for the sake of their cuteness or because the author doesn't want to see them with a male/female. They say you shouldn't do something you don't want others to do to you... I don't think you'd be very happy if people started thinking you were in a relationship with a friend of your gender just because you're close and understand eachother well. Trust me I talk from experience.
