Personally I was a fan of Harry Potter canon untill the HBP came. Then it all went down the drain. Plot holes, OoC'ness, things that don't fit with earlier books...

In HBP we get featured a Harry that puts quidditch and Ginny Weasley as his top priority. Now think for yourself. You just get told a mad man will stop at nothing to try and kill you, you are

also the only one who can kill said mad man. Just a couple months earlier your unwillingless to train got your godfather, your only parental figure, killed. Would you still put sports and girls

as your top priorities?

Sigh.

Things I don't understand in canon.

The fidelius: We know that the secret keeper of a fidelius can be in the house under the fidelius. (Dumbedore and grimauld place.) So why exactly did they make pettigrew the secret keeper. Why not make James or Lily the secret keeper? Now that way they would actually be safe.

Harry's cloak being a hallow. Moody, Dumbledore, the Marauder's map can all see through the cloak. So it doesn't exactly fit the deathly hallow description does it?

Harry ending Voldemort's life with the unbeatable wand, more like malfunctioning wand. So what happened to the power the dark lord knows not? How did love affect that wand in anyway?

The tabboo. Honnestly, why didn't the ministry use it earlier (morsmordre or unforgivables anyone? and why didn't the resistance use it against them. Simply lay some booby traps, say Voldemort and watch minions die.

Malfoy going free and Harry atcually agreeing with it. Sure he didn't kill anyone, but only because he failed to do so. But attempted murder isn't a crime, isn't it? That he had no problems with using the other unforgivables doesn't matter of course.

and before HBP: Harry/Ginny. The problem I have with canon Ginny is that she's fan girl. HBP: "You're only happy if you're out there hunting Voldemort and that's why I like you so much." Fan girl.

Ships I can't stand

Ron/Hermione: Of course 11 year olds fighting do it because of unresolved sexual tension. Of course fighting is the perfect foundation for a good relationship. I do not how anyone can like that pairing. If you like Ron/Hermione: grow up and read the books again. Having no interests in common, coming from completely different backgrounds as well as being on a different level mentally is not a good foundation for a relationship. Add to that that Ron doesn't even want to understand Hermione's interest and that spells disaster. I'm not even mentioning that Ron's main problem is jealousy so how can the smartest witch to dwell in Hogwarts be the right girl for him.

Harry/Severus: that's just sick. Severus is literally as old as Harry's father. Really this is pedophilia. People get put to jail for this.

Plots I don't like:

Hermione betraying Harry. Won't happen. Especially not for the idiotic reasons those writer give. Dumbledore asking her, most often when she starts Hogwarts. So a girl craving for friends is going to betray her only true friend, who doesn't fight constantly with her, because a man she barely knows (or in some stories doesn't even know) asks her. Not happening people! Another reason they often give is money. Hermione's parents are dentists. Whily not rich, they are well off. She does not need money.

Dumb Dumbledore. You often see this in manipulative Dumbledore fics where Dumbledore acts like an idiot. He is not, make him manipulative all you want but he is brilliant. Besides what's the fun in reading about a dumb manipulative Dumbledore, give Harry a challenge in overcoming Dumbledore's manipulations.
