Author has written 27 stories for RENT, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Firefly, House, M.D., and Doctor Who. I read much more than I write, both here and on LJ, occasionally straying to other sites as well. I have been writing fanfiction for over six years. I especially love writing drabbles because there's so much you can say in such a confined space if you choose your words carefully; so it's all about the art of scrutiny, and each word has to be significant. I take great care with my drabbles, trying to put in as much detail and characterization as I can while working with the word limit. I frequently have to list out a bunch of synonyms to make sure I've picked the word with the best connotations for the emotions I am trying to convey. I am overly mindful of accuracy... chronological, grammatical, plot-wise... I am a registered beta-reader, but I mostly work with people whose work I am already familiar with and have reviewed. Still, if you want me to beta for you, let me know and I'll see what I can do. I do get requests, and I don't have all year, but if I like your story, I'll probably take it on. Please read my beta profile for more details. Please don't be offended if I don't - as I've stated above, I read according to personal guidelines and I'm just not interested in many other kinds of fics, no matter how good yours may be. As a reader, I look for fanfiction that doesn't require a lot of brainpower on my end. I don't get very involved in fandoms, and the ones I choose tend to be low-maintenance: - Harry Potter - this is my primary fandom, in terms of fanfic consumption by volume. I like that it's a flexible world with so many characters. In terms of the fiction itself, I tend to choose shorter works - 25 chapters is generally too long a commitment for me (15 for a ship I don't particularly like)! Of course, if I start and love it, I will continue, but the summary has to be really appealing, because I usually pass by fics that are too long for me. At the same time, though, I don't like to quit part-way through - I have to find out what happens! For genre, I prefer romance or angst, and especially fics that include healthy helpings of both. I don't do AU, crossovers, or OCs - suspension of disbelief requires too much brainpower. I look for honesty in characters and dialogue. Go in peace. | |||||||
