Greetings, dear reader,

Thank-you ever so much for clicking on my profile!

I am Mira - an occasionally interesting starving artist and aspiring writer. I am one of the thousands who suffer from obsessive-shipperitus - an incurable disease that results in shippy fics of the fangirl variety. I'm a sucker for unrequited love, crack!ships, dark romances, Byronic heroes, villains with super awesome twirly capes, time traveling doctors with frankly appalling fashion senses, and pointy eared hobgoblins. I will obsess and fangirl over anything shinny and moderately interesting - especially good ol' sci-fi and classic literature. My muse is a fickle thing that constantly jumps from fandom to fandom.

As a general warning, for I feel inclined to save your eyes, all fics written before 2007 were written by a very young writer who was just starting to dabble in her craft. They are near and dear to me, because they got me where I am now - but, by no means, do they have to be near and dear to you! Unless, of course, you are one of those very brave souls . . . In that case, I salute you!

That being said, I do hope that you enjoy my work. If I can give back a fraction of the joy I have had writing them, then I am doing my job as an author.

"How Dreaming Becomes Us"

For the year of 2011, I undertook the 50 Sentence Challenge - which involved writing four stories a month, each of those stories to be compossed on fifty sentences from fifty prompts. I only made it half way through the challenge, but, these are the things that the muse turned out in that time:

I: "you almost unearthly creature" (Jane Eyre)
II: "tied in loops" (Doctor Who)
III: "fall for the want of you" (Gilmore Girls)
IV: "veritably, it is tragedies the poets pen" (V for Vendetta)
V. "for a place in your time" (Timeline)
VI. "rest now, you sad eyes" (Sense and Sensibility)
VII. "our sorrowful songs, set to staccato beats" (Defiance)
VIII. "knots in this noose of mine" (Sherlock BBC)
IX. "between the pillars of your dreams" (Inception)
X. "all ye holy" (Frankenstein)
XI. "Sic Semper Tyrannis" (Julius Caesar)
XII. "call fondly upon this nightmare" (Labyrinth)
XIII. "Twined in Gold" (Tangled)
XIV. "ancient of turn and tide" (Cleopatra)
XV. "known only to the lowly" part II (Les Misérables)
XVI. "your servant, forsaken" (The Count of Monte Cristo)
XVII. "Bid the Colosseum Roar" (Gladiator)
XVIII. "raise our voices, heavenwards" part II (Phantom of the Opera)
XIX. "every rendering of heaven" (Thor)
XX. "cries the dead king, vengeance" (Hamlet)
XXI. "cast in iron" (Iron Man)
XXII. "were magic naught but a pulse to your veins" (Merlin)

"and I would see you forged in steel"

I have quite the lengthy Sif/Loki 'verse setting up within the Thor fandom, so I figured that it was high time to put a little guide for the series here.
First, though, I think it is time to answer a few questions.

I. First off, why Sif and Loki? Well, why not? I could take the easy route and say that my muse has been shipping crack!ships and dark romances before I even know what shipping was, but let me take a moment more to explain.

Yes, these two have very little in canon to support them minus a shared history with Thor, and tons of eye contact and bickering moments in the most recent Thor film. The first thing I noticed when watching the movie was the ease of their relationship, even when angered by the other. It is she he directs his concerns about Thor too, it is she who is the voice of the Three when they approach Loki as king. And then there is the ton of eye contact that one can pin solely on an antagonistic relationship, but, the turning point for me was, at the end of the film, when Sif gave her sympathies to Frigg for Loki's loss. She looked to be near tears, and Frigg's sympathetic smile, and touching her arm in shared grief tugged at my heartstrings something fierce. It was such a little bit, but my muse was caught with the idea of what if. . .

And then, the little of canon support aside, I love the way their personalities clash and interact. She is tough, fierce, witty, and smart – and working her butt off to fit into a society whose 'pre-mold' for her is not one that works for her. Loki is introverted, sly, too smart for his own good, and has a razor tongue that he puts to good use. He too is going against the grain Asgard has set for him, and it is this 'outcast connection' that I first build off and then upon. I love the idea of them seeing the unseen in each other, and in the end, filling in each others holes and weaknesses. It is what my stories thrive on.

Now, is that enough to build a massive backstory on? Well, not really, But, I did. So there.

And then, the more I read the myths in order to build up my little world within this fandom, I was surprised at how many Sif/Loki references there were in the Eddas – there was everything from Loki himself admitting to the affair and Sif saying nothing to deny it, to Odin scolding Thor for leaving Sif at home alone to carry on with a lover, to Sif having the son of a Jötunn whom she would not name. Even Loki stealing Sif's hair seemed to resonate with me – for the deepest of jealousies are struck by the deepest of attachments. I loved the idea that their bickering and their hurt feelings, and their high expectations of the other is the result of something deeper – if not the massive relationship that I've build up to span their centuries, then at least an attraction that will never be voiced, canon or not.

Either way, I have to thank everyone who has put aside their raised eyebrows (or who saw the same things I did, and jumped on the ship with sails at their full), and has taken the time to enjoy this 'verse. I have had the most amazing feedback and readers come as the result of writing this, and I cannot find the words to say how much your support has meant to me. As an author, I can imagine nothing better from a fandom!

II. Dear God, why is your muse obsessed? It's all Mr. Hiddleston's amazing, amazing eyes, I tell you. No villain should have eyes that soulful. And Sif's amazing fighting spirit, and 'get what I want' attitude gets me every time. My heart is no longer my own. It is theirs.

III. Fine, I'll bite. Now, what order should I read the stories in? Well, funny you should ask. Because here I have a nifty, handy index of what I have written so far . . .

I. "steel in your hand", My epic backstory that fits in with canon to date.
II. "bid the soldier's shoot", The post-canon fix-it fic for my fix-it fic.
III. "you would come", A missing scene set far post-canon.
IV. "to have and to hold", Another scene set far post-canon.

And then, set within that timeframe are

V. "at the gallows, an about face", a missing scene from the film.
VI. "tall with hard long eyes", a missing scene set pre-canon
VII. "envelop bones like new skin"- a pre-canon, novel-length tale within this verse, told in fourteen parts.

And then, soon to come in this verse, we have -

"rest upon our battlefields", Loki fitting into the Avengers, this will be set immediately after "bid the soldiers shoot"

And here is something completely different, soon to come . . .

"so gorges the heart", This fic is becoming my baby - as long as EBLNS, this one isn't quite set within my steel!verse so much as it is an AU that deals with the Avengers, Arthurian Myth, Loki and Doom being awesome frenemies, and a an amnesiac Sif. (Hey, that plot device is classic, not cliché, I'll have you know). This story will be the first of three 'cliché' plots that I have been challenged to turn original, and I can't wait to begin posting.

"his lady named afterwards"

I have another rewrite of canon dealing with Molly/Moriarty in the Sherlock BBC verse. The stories within this series are:

"he kindly stopped for me" Part I - The first meeting.
"victor, meet spoils" Part II - In which Molly walks a bit more of the fine line.
"glass shatters softly" Part III - Molly Hooper vs. Sherlock Holmes.
"blow the house down" Part IV - A short story detailing Molly's fall.
"Yorick's Grin" Part V - An interlude.

"knots in this noose of mine" 50 Sentences, and timeframe-less snippets from this 'verse.
