Author has written 68 stories for X-Files, Pokemon, Last Unicorn, Trigun, Haibane Renmei, Tuck Everlasting, Corpse Bride, Misc. Anime/Manga, and Legend of Zelda.

Last Profile Update: Sometime in the Eleventh Month in the Common Reckoning, in the Season of Dying.

Hi there, please call me Shadsie.

I've been writing fan fiction for a number of years for a variety of fandoms, although there are only a few that I've been prolific for. Seeing as I've been writing for a while and have grown through practice of the craft, what is on this profile is a smattering of the good, the bad and the ugly. I am not afraid of where I've come from, but I caution people looking only for my good/halfway-decent work to stay away from anything written pre-2004 or so. It's there for posterity, for archving purposes and because I know that a few people like my old junk out of some odd sense of nostaliga. I don't like to rip nostalgia away from people, even if I think it is misguided.

I write fanfiction because it is fun, because the plot bunnies tell me to, and because I find it quite a bit easier than writing original work, which I also do. Sometimes, the best way to get out of a bit of writer's block for a self-imposed original project is to write out a fanfiction plot that's been bugging me. It gets the blood flowing. I am not a professional writer yet, though I am trying to get people in the business to look at my novel-length originals. I'm nobody special. I write because I like to explore ideas.

My longtime and current main fandoms are:

The Legend of Zelda - I've been writing for most games - any games I've played plus some "all-inclusive" fics. My favorite title is Twilight Princess, but I have yet to meet a Zelda game I didn't enjoy. I haven't played them all, however, and therefore write only for that which I've played.

and

Trigun / Trigun Maximum - I love and write for both the anime and manga. I'm not as active in creating fanwork for it as I used to be, but there is a backlog of fics from seven-eight years worth of obession here.

I like to write stuff with a dramatic and often dark bent. I'm not good with humor or with "fluff," though I have tried my hand at it. I am much better with drama, adventure and horror. I like philosohpical and psychological themes. I try to create stories with depth, for as "deep" as one can go with fan fiction. I specialize in gen fic, that is, "without pairings," though I do make the occasional attempt at romance for pairs I especially like, if I get a good idea.

I am not fond of slash/yaoi. I have experimented with it to a small degree for certain villians in some of my Trigun works - for characters that I thought it worked for, but never saw it for the main character. I support readers' and writers' right to enjoy slash/yaoi, it's just not my thing and I know my few attempts with it have not been good. It has always felt very "alien" to me. I just don't relate to it at all, so please do not ask me to write it, and please do not call me a horrible person just because it isn't what makes me tingly. I relate to het more and even that barely makes me tingle most of the time. Just move on to authors who write what you like - simple as that.

As for my personal beliefs and whatnot, they've been in flux for a number of years. Unlike many ffnetters, I don't feel the need to display them all outright. If the work is good, let it be good, independant of the personal politics of the author (especially when they have little/nothing to do with said work). This is especially true when, at times, my views on fictional worlds and concepts are very different than my views about the real world.

I can be a bit of a grammar and style nitpick. If you're looking at this page because I gave you a lenghty review, it's only because I like to give advice. If it is unwanted advice in the end, ignore me. I'm no one special.

While I care about my hobby and do my best, I am not sure if my work is really, truly "good." I've gotten a lot of praise, but a lot of stuff that I consider horrible gets loads of praise on this site, too. And, what I mean is, I've seen stacks and stacks glowing praise for stuff that makes me grab my head in pain and moan! (Example: Some of my early work on the bottom of this page). I live and let live, but it makes me rather wary of the reviews I get here. Comment if you'd like, the more verbose and well-articulated the better, but I reserve the right to remain at least a little suspsicious of each and every comment I get on this site. Concrit is loved, even if I'm too lazy to actually change most of my fanfictions (I keep advice as reference for future writing). Pithy one-sentence praise is mildly appreciated, but mostly glared at before being deleted from my Inbox.

What rests upon this page is that which I do to waste my time and life - and to have fun. Enjoy.

~For those interested, I created a "movie-poster" style cover for the Legend of Zelda multichaptered fic, The Great Desert. It can be seen at my Deviant Art page here: http://shadsie.deviantart.com/art/Great-Desert-Poster-127386126

I HAVE BEEN TV-TROPED!! TV Tropes, my favorite Wiki to browse, featured my Haibane Renmei story, "Before We Had Wings" on their Tear Jerkers page. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/TearJerker/FanFiction This may be of no consequence to most readers, but (considering that it's a neutral-to-positive sort of mention), it brings me great joy.

If you find it obnoxious when people copy-paste loads of memes into to their profiles, cop-- nevermind.
