Hello :)
As you may have read, I am Rachel. I'm a 20-year-old student from Sunderland, in the north-east of England. I study English Literature and Japanese at Newcastle University, and I aspire to eventually become a writer~ if I can find the time. My career goal, other than the writing, is to become a Secondary School English and Drama teacher, or to possibly work in publishing or translation.
I am currently living in Mitaka, a city on the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan. I'm studying Japanese on a year abroad at International Christian University, and unfortunately it takes up a lot of my time. I have lessons everyday (except weekends) and get a ton of homework, quizzes, exams and essays to do. It is very time consuming, and I have to admit, I am struggling a little, but I will manage eventually, and hopefully I can fit my fanfiction in somewhere.

I'm a big fan of anime and manga and was the President of my university's Anime Society in 2008-2009. I watch anime every day (or at least every other day) and enjoy reading and writing. With regards to my fanfiction, I usually go by my obsessions, so whatever I am currently obsessed with, I probably have a few ideas floating around for fanfiction. It often means that any ongoing stories whose fandom I am not currently obsessed with usually aren’t being worked on. Which is a shame.

I prefer to write one-shots as I change favourite fandoms so much that there is no guarantee of completing a multi-chaptered fic. I have many, many plans that range from full chapter-by-chapter synopsis, to short outlines and even just one sentence prompts, and eventually I will work some sort of magic and get down to writing them all.
Though I may be slow at updating and uploads may be scarce, I can pretty much guarantee I will always be working on a Bulma x Vegeta fanfiction, due to my never-ending obsession with the pairing.

Interests and Obsessions

No particular anime right now, though I am enjoying most of the new season’s offerings.

The manga series Fairy Tail, which I have just caught up with and also Skip Beat, which has far too short chapters for a 2 week waiting time, but I love it anyway. How could I possibly forget Bakuman, which is the best manga for ending chapters with epic cliffhangers. Needs more Takagi x Miyoshi rather than this Takagi x Aoki crap it keeps hinting at.

I haven't been watching much in the way of drama series at the moment, but my ever-present love of Hana Yori Dango continues.

Book-wise, my eternal favourite is, of course, Pride and Prejudice.

What is fanfiction without pairings? Most of my work (nearly all of it actually) revolves around pairings and romance, so this is integral to my creativity. My current favourites are:

As always, Bulma and Vegeta from Dragonball Z - my first major ship and so far the strongest. I also have a love of Makino and Domyouji from Hana Yori Dango and a strong urge to write Pride and Prejudice fanfiction revolving around Elizabeth and Darcy.

Though there is no guarantee I will ever write for them, I enjoy reading various pairings (quite a few outlandish non-canon ships too).
I enjoy:

Luffy and Nami from One Piece, as Luffy is such a fun character and Nami balances him nicely. I also support Krillin and Android Eighteen, in Dragonball Z, which is underrepresented on fanfiction.net due to the mass of Bulma x Vegeta fics (though I still contribute more to the latter...)
My Yugioh ship is surprisingly, Seto and Anzu, as I am one of the minority of fans who don't want to strangle Anzu when I see her and who is not a yaoi fangirl.
In Full Moon wo Sagashite, I like to pair Takuto with Meroko, as Mitsuki bugs the life out of me, and Mero-chan is just so awesome. Whilst on the topic of Arina Tanemura works, I quite like the weird idea of pairing Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne's Maron with the minor character Zen, due to conversations with BlackHat from the Totally Chibi forums (which are sadly gone now).
Anyone who reads my earlier fanfiction will know I used to be obsessed with (and still enjoy) the Sakura x Syaoran pairing from Cardcaptor Sakura, though I did get bored with writing it and my fics have been on haitus for far too long.
I adore the Tenchi x Ryoko pairing from the various Tenchi series, and loathe when he is paired with Ayeka. Much like how I loathe pairing Tohru from Fruits Basket with anyone other than Kyo. Kyo x Tohru is better than Yuki x Tohru. End of story.
From Sailor Moon, I ship Usagi x Mamoru and recommend AliciaBlade's huge collection of fanfics with that pairing.
For Disney, I ship Mulan x Shang from Mulan, and Hercules x Meg from Hercules, but very little else, since other couples just haven't grabbed me enough.
In Harry Potter, I hate pairing Harry with anyone (especially Ginny) but weirdly I adore the outrageous pairing of Draco x Hermoine. I like my bad boys, and feisty heroines I think, which is probably why I also ship Harry's parents, Lily x James, as James wasn't exactly a model student.
I must remember to mention a love of Joker x Harley fanfiction from Batman: The Animated Series. The Joker owns all.
