Author has written 7 stories for Harry Potter.

May 14: Wow, so much time has gone, I've been flat stick with work and have barely had time to even do anything let along write more on Summer. It's still going, I just haven't been able to write much of late. Please don't despair, there is plenty to go...
January 3: Happy New Year! And it shouldn't take me long to update again. Oh yeah, thought I should add, La Malfoi Inconnue isn't abandoned, it's just in hiatus while Summer With The Grangers finishes up. One thing at a time.
Feel free to browse this section or check out some of the stories in my favourites page. There is stuff from Harry Potter mostly, but there are some from stuff like Frankenstein, Phantom of the Opera and the Stephanie Plum series (see below as to why).
Right, a little (or a lot) about me...
NAME: Samantha, or Sam as most call me
NATIONALITY: Australian
AGE: 25
SEX: F
OCCUPATION: Civil Engineer in Construction
LOVES:
My animals, cos admittedly this means my ex's dog as well since my folks are looking after him
Hobbies:
- Reading
- Watching some sport
- Writing
- Going out or staying in (some nights it's good to sit in, not all the time but for a change)
- Playing sport as well, I like to do a bit of everything
Sport:
- Karate - desperately need to get back into it
- Tennis when I do
- I'll literally have a go at anything and everything I can - eg. I've done water skiing, snowskiing, hot air ballooning, rockclimbing, rogaining (like orienteering only you don't have a set route), netball, horse-riding, flying in different modes of aircraft, I can ride a motorbike, ice skating, rollerblading
TV Shows:
- Prison Break
- Seinfeld - my absolute all-time favourite because despite the fashion changing, the scenarios and the storylines don't - it's still as relevant today as when it was made
- Desperate Housewives
- Top Gear - you don't need to be into cars to like this show
- The Office - the British version
- We Can Be Heroes: Finding the Australian of the Year
- Heroes
- Ugly Betty (my God! How sad was the ending?)
Movies:
- Fight Club. I love clever movies like that
- HP I guess, they have done well so far
- Snatch and Lock Stock (I really like the soundtracks as well)
- The Blues Brothers is a classic
- Batman movies (except the Joel Schumacher ones, too over the top I think)
- The Usual Suspects
- I like thrillers mainly but I love comedies as well and cannot go past a good chick flick
- Office Space
- The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (with Andrew Dice Clay as Ford Fairlane)
- Kenny
- Transformers - great film!
- Spiderman series
- Good dramas
- RockNRolla - great return to the genre by Guy Ritchie. Absolutely slick production that Snatch looked second-rate. Then again, whilst I like Snatch, I like Lock Stock better
Books:
- HP of course
- The Da Vinci Code
- Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series
- I'll eventually finish The Bourne Identity
- Gothic books (Dracula, Frankenstein, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde - read Dangerous Games, a HP fanfic that's on my faves page, based on the book but it's done really well)
- Other chick lit is easy to read too
- The Lovely Bones and it's quite good, a different concept for a book
- Chuck Palahnuik books
- Girl With A Pearl Earring
- Jane Green books
Actors:
- Gary Oldman. My number one favourite actor. Refer to Dracula, Air Force One, Interstate 60 and Sid and Nancy for clarification of this. Name an accent and he has done it. A great choice for Sirius Black I think, once again when I watched POA, he is a fascinating actor.
- Bruce Willis
- Benicio Del Toro
- Alan Rickman (funny, I hadn't heard of him before HP, yet I'd seen films he was in)
- Johnny Knoxville is hot
- Seann William Scott is hot as well (he looks like an Aussie footy player called Luke Darcy who plays for the Western Bulldogs - so hot!)
- Cary Ewles. He's another versatile actor although probably not so much in terms of accents, just genres
- Robert Carlysle
- The Rock is a very, very sexy man. You only gotta watch Walking Tall to see that. Apparently he is favourite on Janet Evanovich's website to play Ranger. Mmm, yeah, I could see that...
- Vin Diesel is good too, and despite the critics of The Pacifier, I loved him in it. I think the female (and possibly some male) population probably did too... ;-) But I've just done the comparison... The Rock is sexier although Vin Diesel is still good
- Ah! Forgot to mention Vinnie Jones... I LOVE Vinnie Jones, and I love all the characters he plays
FAVE MUSIC:
Radio station: Triple J - (http://www.abc.net.au/triplej) check it out - you can listen to it live, or via PodCast
Aussie music:
- Augie March
- True Live
- Hilltop Hoods
- Can we claim Ben Folds as our own? He lives in Adelaide!
- Eskimo Joe
- Dallas Crane
- The Sleepy Jackson
- Little Birdy
- The Butterfly Effect
- You Am I
- The Herd
New Zealand music:
- Evermore
- Shihad
- The Datsuns
British: Hey, I like Britpop full-stop
- Blur
- Pulp - go Jarvis Cocker in GOF movie!
- Oasis
- Arctic Monkeys - slightly overated but still alright. If the hype wasn't there I'd probably like them more
- Muse
- Kaiser Chiefs
American:
- I cannot go past Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl especially. He is brilliant although Taylor is damn great too
- The Killers
- The Offspring - teenage punk stuff but still very listenable (I had a major crush on Dexter when I was 15)
- Faith No More (Mike Patton is bloody good looking as well but I can't say I'm into his latest "projects")
- Tool
- Anthrax
- Old school Metallica
- Nirvana
- Eminem is one of those artists who you have to like, even if you don't listen to his music all that often (like me), his music is unlike any other hip-hop seen in previous years or since
- Scissor Sisters has some great stuff - I Don't Feel Like Dancing is one of those get-up-and-dance songs yet not in the annoying, "Rhianna" sense of the word
Randoms:
- Rammstein (Germany) - this band is so damn unique in its music. I love Till Lindemann and Richard Kruspe-Bernstein in particular although strangely enough, Flake is damn funny
- Franz Ferdinand (Scotland)
Oh yeah. I should mention that I have tendencies to listen to really, really random music, or music from certain eras, eg. Typical 80's rock (Billy Idol is bloody awesome, Rose Tattoo, Divinals, Choirboys, Pat Benetar, Kenny Loggins), or from further back (Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains - altho they are actually from the same grunge era as Nirvana, or sometimes I have rare desires to listen to trashy pop music (Britney, Pink - although Pink is not your stereotypical pop star, and any other "at the moment" pop star, I just certainly don't make it a habit to listen to them) and usually like an artist after a few years of that particular song's release, same goes for some metal music (Linkin Park, Korn)
DISLIKES:
- No real dislikes really.
FAVE CHARACTERS:
- Malfoy (HP). The guy's hot, nothing more to say, and he's the smart arse at school who you couldn't help but like. Not to mention, HBP showed that he's human
- Snape (HP). I still reckon he's good, even after HBP. AND what's more, he's got that whole highly intelligent thing happening, the tall, dark and (we could argue not so) handsome look to him (because really he comes across as very sexy... mmm, yep, pay attention to my pen-name!)
- Stan Shunpike (HP). He's not good looking but Cockney accents are cool. Just watch Snatch or Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels for a guide to this
- Errol (Snatch) - he's got some great lines
- Bullet-Tooth Tony (Snatch) - another with great lines, and cos I love Vinnie Jones ("So, you're obviously the big dick... now, fuck off!)
- Turkish (Snatch) - Jason Statham is not the most best looking guy but has a pretty fucking phenominal body (he's a martial arts expert in something), oh yeah, and he plays Turkish quite well (Saying: "I dunno what you mean!" Thinking: "But what I do know, is that I wanna get out of here, fuck me, it stinks!")
- Brick-Top (Snatch) - Ruthless but again, like the others has some brilliant one-liners (Turkish: "We've lost Gorgeous George." Brick-Top: "Well, where'd you lose 'im? He ain't a set o' fucking car keys, now is 'e?"). Snatch is a great film!
- Ranger (Stephanie Plum series) - ex-Navy SEAL, buff to the max, only known fear is Stephanie's Grandma Mazur. The guy is brilliant! And you'd go him in a second.
FAVE PAIRINGS:
Draco/Hermione - This was first brought to my attention just after COS came out in the cinemas and I've been a big fan of this pairing ever since
Snape/Hermione - something that admittedly I wasn't sure of at the start, but they are very similar and are very well suited to one another (I usually read stories where Hermione is older or both are students due to Time Turners or some other thing like that)
Ranger/Stephanie - every now and then I will veer from HP and stray into unknown waters, like Phantom or something else. I tend to find if I stroll amongst the Stephanie Plum fanfics, I will only read fics based on these two
If a story is favourable, I'll read it even if it isn't one of the above pairings. I would want to; I've written other pairings.
Other fanfic I like is Seinfeld, Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books, Phantom of the Opera and Frankenstein. Hey, I've even read Captain Planet fics (admittedly I was one of the freaks who thought Captain Planet was hot for a blue cartoon character... lol!)
STORIES OF MINE:
Posted:
- Summer with the Grangers - my first major fic. About Draco having to go stay with Hermione in between their sixth and seventh years at Hogwarts. It was written before HBP and so does not and will not conform to the writings of that book.
- La Malfoi Inconnue - The Unknown Malfoy (direct translation from French). Hermione finds out on her 21st birthday a large secret that she hasn't known the answer to before. There are a lot of pairings in that story, so I won't mention names. AND furthermore, they are probably not going to stay the same throughout.
- Du Riechst So Gut (complete) - Songfic to Rammstein's Du Riechst So Gut (translation is included in the fic). Remus goes against all his prior convictions and finally acts on his wolf-like senses to obtain his one desire
- Teacher Crush, the 7th Year Gryffindor Girl Way - Hermione is sitting in her Potions class day-dreaming about a certain Potions professor
- Rein Raus (complete) - Songfic to Rammstein's Rein Raus is on AFF.net. It has to be there because of the censorship rules on FF.net. It's smut all the way, as the song basically is as well... ;-)
- The New Occlumency Student (complete) - well, well, well, it seems a few people were disappointed with this. Ah well, you cannot please them all. As it is, it is about Ginny having to learn Occlumency and Legillimency from Snape after Dumbledore discovers that she is quite naturally gifted in it. Funnily enough, I thought it was one of my better efforts but as mentioned before, you can't please them all. A side story from La Malfoi Inconnue.
- Sonne - songfic to Rammstein's Sonne. There probably isn't much of a storyline in it, not that it's X-rated or anything, just it outlines that a boy is born yet will take some time in knowing what his fate is in the Wizarding World. Of course, it's about Harry Potter.
In the Pipelines:
I've always got stories in the pipelines, but some that I particularly want to do are more Rammstein songfics cos they are one of the few bands I feel that I can do a decent songfic to. I had a few ideas of my own and between chats with another writer, Vulcania, we came up with others. Such as:
- Ich Will (I Want) - I've kind of started it but I came up with another idea of how it will go. Basically it's about Voldemort during the first war, when he's roping in potential Death Eaters.
- Engel (Angel) - possibly about Snape musing over love lost or something
- Der Meister (The Master) - another Voldemort one, this time probably just about his power over the Wizarding World and the fear he instills in them
- Nebel (Fog) - about love lost but that could be applied to a few pairings
- Bestrafe Mich (Punish Me) - Lucius bowing to the power of Voldemort
- Bueck Dich (Bend Down) - Voldemort again, or someone completely different, such as Snape over Hermione in the classroom (a bit like Rein Raus, I guess... ;-) )
To be honest, there are lots of Rammstein songs that could have fics put to them, the above are just some that we thought of straight off. Or Links 2 3 4 (it would suit Draco, I think, talking about how everyone expected him to be just like Lucius). I think I'm the only one to use Rammstein as a songfic base and so for that, I hope that I can remain that way (it's a bit unique!)
- Roxette - It Must Have Been Love - Draco and Hermione share a detention or something similar together before something else drives them apart
- Roxette - Listen To Your Heart - Hermione says goodbye to Snape on her last day of Hogwarts but she wants to say something other than goodbye
- Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue - Where the Wild Roses Grow - I dunno why I've wanted to make a fic about this song but it is a powerful song yet I don't think "powerful" is the right word. Maybe a bit impacting, it's an odd song, anyway. Not only that, I've no idea who to put in it.
Other fics not yet posted but started:
- The Apprentice - the only fic that isn't Harry Potter related. It's based on a few ideas, as per Seinfeld scripts. Some of it is written but some isn't. Jerry gets an apprentice, Kramer goes back to university, Elaine has Puddy trouble (this time with his wardrobe) and George gets his job back with the Yankees.
One of my reviewers had a list of all her Boggarts, Patronus, etc on her profile page and I thought it was a really cool idea. It was NixiNileaNonna, to give her credit. Least I think she's a she.
HP PERSONAL CHARACTERISATIONS:
House: Slytherin, I can be quite cunning and I haven't got the personality to be in Gryffindor. But I could be in Hufflepuff (I'm loyal to friends and won't betray their trust), but Ravenclaw because I'm fairly intelligent, so pick a
Boggart: The dark, as in, being outside by myself in the dark
Patronus: Hmm, probably an elephant or a dog. I've loved elephants for a long time and dogs are so loyal.
The Mirror OF Erised Would Reveal: Me surrounded with sporting equipment, cos I've never always been able to play sport when I want to, such as skiing or the like due to expenses, otherwise it would reveal me with wings. How fun would it be to fly?
Animagus: Out of left field, I think a fox would suit me, much like being in Slytherin. Or something like a Wedge Tailed Eagle (native to Australia) due to its great power and the ability to fly, but probably moreso a fox.
So that brings us to the end of "getting to know me a little better". Anyway, if you wanna drop a line, my email is found in the email section, or leave a review. I am in the process of setting up a MySpace page - the link is http://www.myspace.com/rangerishot.
