About My Writing:
I write and read in a multitude of fandoms and am unashamed to admit that I am a hopeless romantic. That will probably never change, so I usually write and read a lot of romance. In fact, I think just about every one of my fanfics is a romance. This is not to imply that I can't enjoy other genres, this is just the one I choose to mess around with the most. On the other hand, I love a good mystery/suspense or action/adventure, and I am especially fond of humor. A good humor-fic can totally outweigh my constant thirst for romance.
In the past, I was a huge fan of Yu Yu Hakusho. That was all I wrote or read. Lately, I've been tinkering in the Final Fantasy VII and the Kingdom Hearts fanverses. However, I've been dabbling in Jackie Chan Adventures, and I've been known to spit out Bleach and Harry Potter fanfics at random. I'm working on a brain-child of the Final Fantasy X persuasion, which will not be posted until I have finished The Need to Know and A Whole New Level of Insanity.
Character-wise, I have a thing for Yuffie. I have no problem at all with pairing her out to just about anyone. She's like my bicycle character. I think she adds an interesting dynamic to any relationship, so I have no problem reading about her if the author is good. I'm a fan of crack pairings like Yuffie/Axel and Yuffie/Cid, but I've always held a special soft spot in my heart for Yuffie/Vincent. Vincent is the one character that I can't stand to be with anyone but Yuffie. I guess I'm sort of unfair in that respect.
My main focus for several years, reading-wise, has been Hermione/Snape romance. Don't ask me why--I've got a thing for smart girls and dark men. Why do you think I'm writing a Jade/Valmont?
But seriously? Give me a well-written crack pairing over a boring canonical romance any day.
As far as drawing me into reading something goes, know this--I am a sucker for good characters. Complex characters are the macaroni to my cheese, people. I like the bad guys who are conflicted about being good and the good guys who are conflicted about being bad. I like the characters who hide things under facades. I like the characters who are completely and totally honest. Long as they're complex, give 'em to me.
