Author has written 15 stories for Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Avatar: Last Airbender, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Twilight, and Harry Potter. Hey y'all out there! I'm just a theatre major/music minor student studying at a very cool university, and I really ought to to spend less time puzzling over plot bunnies and spend more time reading my textbooks and studying for my classes... but somehow that never works out quite right. My Muse can be especially vicious at times, which gets awfully annoying because I get random ideas at 2:30am and I have to get up at 7:00 to make it to class. Ich. Online, my friends call me Idri, or Drelly, which somehow became the abbreviated version of Idrelle. I still can't explain that one, lol. I love Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Fullmetal Alchemist, Doctor Who, Pirates of the Caribbean, Smallville, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Batman and countless other fandoms, including an assortment of Disney films since I love voice acting and The Lion King is one of the best films ever made. Period. I am one of those strange drama geeks that loves Shakespeare and my goal in fanfic life is to write a Hamlet/Ophelia vignette -- or a scene, if I can ever twist my Muse enough to do iambic pentameter, and lots of it (but I seriously doubt I'll ever be able to do it) -- because once upon a time I got challenge by one of my friends to write a Hamlet/Ophelia vignette. Lol. It's true. I have a confession: I hate the Twilight saga more than any other franchise out there (with the possible exception of Eragon). I do. Really do. I cannot begin to understand the attraction to Bella and Edward's "love story" (which I put in quotation marks because I cannot even begin to understand why Bella is so much in love with Edward and vice versa -- but that's another story for another time). The hype around these books (all of which I have read, by the way -- and I believe I have been somewhat scarred by Breaking Dawn since it is one of the most dreaded books I read in 2008) makes me sad because at times the excitement surrounding the saga seems to be more about the hype itself and the people involved than the actual story and the characters. However, I have written a Twilight fanfic. And I may write more. When I first wrote Hey Furball, Shut Up and Listen, many of my friends went near-beserk on me because they were astounded that I had actually dared to write a fanfic for a fandom I dislike so much. Here's my explanation: I'll give the Twilight saga some credit for creating an interesting story and interesting characters revolving around werewolf mythology. I shall continue to call them werewolves, whether Breaking Dawn says they are shape-shifters or not. The Quileutes are the most fasincating characters in the Twilight saga and I think the entire thing would have been better if Stephenie Meyer dropped the vampire love story crap and focused on this much more inticing creation. I love the werewolves, so I have to give Twilight some credit because this franchise is their home. I had really hoped in Breaking Dawn that there would have been a Jacob/Leah pairing because in my mind, they are two people who are very much alike and can understand each other intimately. Not only are they bonded together because they are both werewolves and share the pack mind, Jake and Leah have also suffered romantic loss (well... now that Jacob's "imprinted" on the Loch Ness Monster, that sentence loses quite a bit of its worth). So, if you ever see me writing Twilight, it won't be about the vampires. It will never be about Bella (Mary Sue!) and her diamond-skinned, glittering, oh-so-unbelievably-handsome, frozen knight in vampire fangs (wait... they don't have fangs here. Right.) It will be about the werewolves. It will be about the could-have-beens of Jake and Leah. I don't mean to insult Twilight fans, but this is my take on the franchise that I am so disappointed (and ridiculously annoyed) with. Fun fact: the Star Wars fan fiction boards at the Jedi Council Forums (http://boards.theforce.net) hold yearly Fan Fiction Awards. This Time Around received Best Non-Human Character (for General Grievous) and Best Ensemble Cast awards at the 2008 Saga Fan Fiction Awards. This year at the 2009 Saga Fan Fiction Awards, The Isolation Log: the Diary of a Lost Rebel received the Best Original Character, Female award (for Kerigan Lysson). Status of Multi-Part Fics This Time Around (SW) -- WIP. I'll update when I can, but this is my main project from now on and will be my main focus until I finish it. The Isolation Log: the Diary of a Lost Rebel (SW) -- WIP. I'll update when I can. Hounds of the Sea (PotC) -- On Hiatus. This Time Around is taking up most my time; I'll get back to it when I can. To anyone who reads and replies, critiquing or no, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!! I love you! And I normally don't do more than one exclamation mark, so you know you're special. :-p Lol. | |||||
