I'm an extremely busy college student. If you're looking for something to blame, point fingers at schoolwork, my newspaper, and my constant need to be involved with theater, because that's where I am most of the time.

Current News:

-Of Ill Winds and Weathered Storms is on a (hopefully short) hiatus. I apologize, guys-- it's actually mostly written, but it's one of the biggest projects I've ever done and there's a lot of little details that need to be in order because it's so plot heavy. It's going to be rather long, and I don't want to post much more until I'm certain that I won't change things. I'm on the tail end of college, and between directing shows and internships, it's just something I need to put aside until I have a lot of time to work on it.

-...that being said, I'm still writing. Expect a short-ish post-Into Darkness Star Trek story sometime soon.

-There are a few old fics on here I'd like to take a crack at editing-- specifically, Van Pelt Saga and Death of a Stoic. The latter just got lost in the shuffle, but the former has been bugging me lately. It was my very first fanfic, and while I have no idea where I was going (I was twelve, after all, and that was a long time ago), I have some new ideas. When I'll have time for this, I don't know. But someday, after Ill Winds is done.

Current Fandom(s):

-Star Trek (2009/2013)

Activity in Fandom: Reading, writing

Shut up. I know I left. I know I quit writing for it. I know I haven't done read or written anything for it since high school. The new movie brought back all the feels. I'm back. Shut up. I said it wouldn't happen and it did. Freaking sexy-ass Chris Pine and his pretty eyes.

-Tintin

Activity in Fandom: Reading, writing

I took my brother to see the movie when I was home for winter break, and I thought it was cute. It wasn't until I began to read the comics a month or so later that I started to get into it. Shortly after, I found myself with a lot of time on my hands and no computer access because of a personal emergency, and so I started to write. The result was a novel-length (not kidding) story written in one weekend on my iPad. I'm editing it for characterization and cohesion, and greatly expanding the plot. I hadn't intended on writing anything, but it was a very good distraction in a time when I sorely needed one. I love everything about Tintin-- mostly the Tintin/Haddock bromance. I don't write slash, but I definitely left their relationship up to the interpretation of the reader. I'm excited to see what people think of this one, just because it's such a departure for me. It's got tons of Hurt!Comfort as I typically write, but it's all plot relevant for once. I peruse the kink_meme for prompts and to see some better quality writing than is usually on here. Sorry FF.net fans, but depending on the fandom, the quality sucks around here-- too many OC romances and Mary Sues for my liking.

A bit about me:

I sign everything off as Marty. That's not actually my name, or even close to my real name. Back in 2004 when I was making this account, I wanted everything to seem a bit more personal, so I started using an old nickname from middle school that never caught on. I like the distinction from my real life, because no one in my life actually calls me Marty.

I actually hadn't seen Back to the Future yet, but I like to think that it was fate that it would become my favorite movie. My penname is razzamatazz73, as razzamatazz is an all around cool word and an awesome pink Crayola color No, I have no idea why Spiderman is holding the crayon in that picture. Yes, I added the "A."

I'm a college student who likes to write, sing, and be on stage. I'm in charge of my college newspaper, which is my baby. I can also tap dance, play the piano, play the flute, and play the guitar (badly). I also have a weird love for cartoons that I probably should have grown out of years ago. I try to blame it on babysitting, but I'm really just that quirky.

All of my uncompleted stories pre-2009 are discontinued save for Death of a Stoic which I plan on editing some day.

Wishing Only Wounds the Heart is a Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends fic I co-wrote with Dude13, a few years ago (back when I was still lucyrocks73) and it's on his profile. You can read it here.

Oh, and I'm a girl.

Pairings (past and present fandoms):

For a list of my preferred pairings, check out the list here.

On Slash:

I'm friends with many gay people. I accept them for who they are, and what they like. I believe that I don't have any right to tell people how they should live their lives or what they should think. Because of this, I don't think I have any right to tell people who they can and cannot love, what they should believe, or what they should like to read.

Once upon a time, I didn't like slash. I was young and it made me feel uncomfortable. But when I became part of the Newsies fandom, it was something I had to learn to enjoy, considering that there's only two women in the movie-- a very hated girl character and a much older lady.

And then I got older, and figured out that in certain fandoms, I just liked slash better. I very much like some of Star Trek slash out there, just because Jim Kirk is such a manwhore anyway that it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he would swing both ways. I also like Tintin and Hanna is Not a Boy's Name slash. I really like friendship and bromance fics, sometimes more than slash, but I love the way these guy characters interact, so I take what I can get. It's all about the quality of writing for me.

I don't like really explicit stuff, but I'm like that with everything. I usually skim through to get to the plot and the feelings (my mind says, "And then they had sex!" and I move on).

So the answer is, yes, I read slash. A lot of it, actually. I don't write it myself, just bromance-y type things that you can read as you please, and I have nothing against anyone who writes slash. And I'm just fine with that, and I hope you are too. I've been known to write friendship fics that are up to interpretation.

OC/Mary Sue Rant:

I HATE THEM. ALL of them. And don't get me wrong, I'm guilty too. Irene from El Shaddai won a title (I don't remember which) in the Newsies Miss Mary Sue competition several years ago. But I don't like them. Ever. I will admit that I can occasionally find some decent ones, but it's seriously about once in a blue moon and I've been around this site for a while. There are some fandoms where romance doesn't work except if it is slash (see Slash Opinions above), and the sooner people figure that out, the better. And it's a big turnoff in some fandoms. Go look at the Tintin section-- some bad slash, some awesome slash, maybe two gen fics, and a shitton of horribly Mary Sues. It's appalling.

And what do I hate even more? Mary Sue slash. It's not the slash issue, not at all. But people usually invent Mary Sues because of a gender-specific character shortage, or because a relationship/friendship can be interpreted that way. If you're going to write slash, I'd encourage you to use CANON characters, please.

So my message, the thing I BEG of you: DON'T WRITE OCs, no matter how desperate you are! And if you must, go take a Mary Sue Litmus Test here, here, or here. Or Google one specific to your fandom, if there is one. And don't lie to yourself. It's ridiculous.

This isn't meant to offend anyone, but it's true! MARY SUES (sigh, and Gary Stus) are obnoxious. And EVERYWHERE!

Random Things:

-I like 80s movies. Specifically anything John Hughes. And Back to the Future, which is amazing. I have a giant BTTF poster. It's my favorite movie ever. You'll never, ever see me write any fanfic for it because I love it too much, and I hardly read any.

-I do not procrastinate often, but the Nostalgia Critic can usually make me stop what I'm doing.

As the Captain is pulled into another adventure, he grows concerned that Tintin might go too far for a story.
