Hello, I know it's been a long while since I've posted, much less updated a story. But I can't help but feel gravitated to this site. Unfortunatly I haven't been able to read as many stories as I have been in the past. And most of my time is now consumed by college work. After reading my previous post, I'm completely amazed that I managed to sqeak by high school. For the time being... I've put aside my creative pen and drew up the pen of (normaly useless) knowledge. It's a bit depressing for me, as this was a community that welcomed me when I experienced a great change. I see some of the dinosaurs are still arround and writing. Which reminds me, I must fiind a particular piece before I turn in tonight.

How long has it been? Four, five years? That was when Ash and Misty Romance were the rage, glad to see it's till around, my particular favorite. Reminiscing does make one feel old now does it? Well, my hotpocket is done in the microwave, so I'll be seeing you guys around. Make sure your stories come "Write from the Heart"

January
Happy New Year!
I sit here now, and wonder if anyone actualy reads this bio. It's just a curious thing that pops into my head sometimes... bet your yelling at the monitor right now, telling me to update my fics instead of updating this thing. Think of it as some lazy senior's sorry attempted at a blog.

So... I've mannaged to get out of killing myself through English class... but now a new problem has arisen... Pre-Calculus... once again my lazy streak is the reason. To put it simply... I hate homework. Something about it is vile and detestable to me. (look at me, using big words and failing a class at the same time) As a remedy for my bad homework habbits, for every 3 straight homeworks I miss... I get a detention afterschool. You want to know the kicker... I was the one who suggested it. At the time I thought "what a great idea, this is perfect" then I realized only an idiot would set himself up for their own demise... woo hoo...

Another reason why I've not updated... I'm way too much into manga and anime right now. Currently, I'm in this bored rut where I've read almost every possible book and whatch every anime I could possibly enjoy. Speaking of which... anyone ever heard of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya"? that should be added to anyone's whatch list.

I've come to a revelation... ONLY the cocky freshmen, who think they know everything about anything, and tha don't know their place, annoy me. The quiet ones, or the ones that are just cool that way, I'm fine with. The group that pisses me off the most though, are the Sophomores. They ALL belive they are the rullers of the school, think they're better, etc. The Juniors, they just don't care, and get allong with the seniors alright, they're already next up in line, why lift a finger? And the seniors, they already know they own the school, only about 2 or 3 of their classes count towards their graduation, so they just chill. At least, that's how it works at my school.

I've come to notice something, when it comes to FanFics. I'm a lazy bastard! I read though my profile, and what do I see? At least 5 incomplete fics. I disapoint myself. Yeah, school work will bog you down. But, I should have the initative to at least update at least every 3 to 4 months, and if you'll notice, most of my fics haven't been updated scince the begining of 2006!? Not to mention I've been neglecting my OWN competition! Somebody smack me!

Another little update, I'm currently trying to dig myself out of a trench in English... Yeah, and I call myself a wrter... well... the essays aren't really "creative" writing is it now... thought not. I'm also trying to run a successful Halo Clan (yeah i'm a dork), but who knows how long a cyber organization can last. It looks like I'm about 90 to 99 percent done on "Moonlight" but I'm still short of the approxamate 6 minutes performance time (I can get it in about 7 to 8 minutes) I'd be nice if I could get into Curtis Institue, but I'd need to complete my audition pieces before I turn 19 (cut-off age for those trying out on the Piano) My marching band is going for competition in Allentown, PA this Sunday, after that, competition season is over for us... we won't get to see our "other" family untill... the late bus?

When you're a Senior in High School, you tend to ask yourself questions such as, "why the hell didn't I join Marching Band my Freshmen year?" "What posessed me to take Bio?" and the ever popular, "Why did I just say that to her!?" or its inverse "Why DIDN'T I say that to her." You also notice that you start to refer to different freshmen as Freshmen plus a physical feature or tallent exclusive to them, for example: Freshmen with the sticks (drumsticks), Freshmen with the Long Hair, Freshmen next to (insert upperclassmen or teacher here), or That Freshmen next to the Freshmen (that alway's ticks of my friends). Its even more useful when you're friends with a Freshmen and an Upperclassmen with the same name, Example: Chris, not Freshmen Chris. and vice-versa.

Now entering my Senior Year of High School, and I've yet to make an update or new release, sorry. But now my life is relatively settling down, and my basic outline for college is laid out (plans on Music Major). As soon as I finish tieing up loose ends, I'll be writing once more. Right about now I'm kicking myself for not picking certain classes, and kicking myself for picking others (ex: Pre-calculus, should have auditioned for Jazz Band, etc...)

Little update on my daily trudges through life away from NYC, my hometown, I can legaly drive now at 17, which means I can now go back and forth to the city I love (I live just under 2hrs away) God I miss Brooklyn. No girlfriend... yet... not that I'm really looking at the moment, just hoping that the right person happens to pass by. My love life or romance doesn't take top priority for me right now, unless, of course, I'm writing it (which I should be doing). Currently, I'm in the school Marching Band, I play the Synth. I'm also studing as a concert pianist. Thought the only pieces in my repertoire is "To Zanarkand" (the Piano Collections version, the one with the 16th notes) from Final Fantasy X, and "Memory of Mother" from A Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar. Currently, I'm about 80 - 90 done with Beethoveen's "Moonlight Sonata" the First Movement and about 70 with "Areith's Theme" Final Fantasy VII Piano Collections, then will probably move on to Nocturne Opus 9 No. 2 by Chopin. When I finish, I think record it on video and post it somewhere. And for those stalkers out there, the only thing you'll get to see are my hands dancing accross the ivoreis.

Yeah... It's been a while... still have lots of school work to do... eep... I didn't realize how much I've put off untill just now. Well I hope I can get back to writing soon.

Just to tide you over...

Your previewing pleasure, I'm going to give you an exerpt from what I want to be my masterpiece "In Training"

A 23 year old Ash leaned casually over the dock railing, gazing out at the bay.

“Ash, shouldn’t you be training?” questioned the young red head.
“Probably, but I’ve got time,” he turned to look at her.

The day was coming to a close, the orange sun reflected off the surface of the water. A cool breeze swept gently across her face. Ash restrained himself from brushing back the stray hairs that played on her features.

She hugged her arms tightly around herself, trying to keep herself warm.

"Here,” Ash held out his vest.
"No thank you,” she refused flatly.
“Aw, come on Mist. You’re going to catch a cold?"
“Will not,” Misty argued.
“Will too.”
“Will not.”
“Will too.”
“Will not.”
“Will not.”
“Good you agree with me,” she said coyly.

Ash was surprised his tactic didn’t work, “It always worked in the cartoons.” He was about to argue further when his stomach intervened.

"Come on,” she smiled, “let’s fill that bottomless pit of yours.”

I'm sorry if I haven't updated a few... sorry, any of my fics lately, but it's Junior year of High School and it's time too look for a destination for a higher education. For those of you too tired to read that long explanation, I mean college. So yeah, gotta pass those classes, but hopefully when I return, I can create the Pokemon Romance Guild. Basically like the Screen Actors Guild, but for Pokemon romance writers. With membership, you could probably get draft readers, and have maybe have collaborated stories by multiple authors. Of course the end result will most likely be the Beautiful Awards. It seems to get way out of hand because by the time it gets to voting, the judges are unavailable. Send me a PM with possible ideas when we can host the BA.

Beautiful Awards 2006
February 7, 2006

Things are going to be a lot different this year. I've got new categories, and this year's batch of fics looks promising.
Also... Leading up to the awards, he have some mini competitions for you to compete in. From PSA's to Halloween Specials, It's an open competition, so feel free to enter.

Beautiful Awards!...

Being the softy that I am, I like to read some AAMR's, but sometimes the stories that I read leave a really good impact. Though it seems I'll never be move to tears (unless you aim too "low" if you know what I mean) the fic might bring me pretty close. I will complement with every nice nice word known in my extensive vocabulary, but will from refrain from using the word "Beautiful". I feel that this word is far too great to complement with. But if I find your story worthy of such a great honor, I will state it clearly in my review.

ALSO...

There will be a "Beautiful of the Year" award. In August. This is when I'll review the stories I have given "beautifuls" to of the year. I will give notification VIA e-mail a month in advance if you are a nominee. This should give you time to revise and edit you fic, making it better than before. In this span I will place any fics I have in progress on hold. If I see a great improvement on your part, you will be awarded with the title. The purpose of this competition is to get writers at their best.

Past Beautiful Award Winners

Will it be you?

How I get Ideas...

Have you ever wondered how some writers come up with those wonderful, magical stories that just seem to fill your heart and soul? Well here's how mine come together: Sometimes I use ideas from all around me (I'm in High School so I don't have to look far) but mostly I use music. In my opinion, music makes a better story. You'll see a lot of music inspired chapters and fics from me. I believe they are called song fics, but mine is taken a step more. I won't just randomly insert one where ever. My storyline would be based around that song. And to take it to even a larger extreme, I spend countless hours barricaded in my room listening to the same song over and over again, making sure the lyrics and story are timed perfectly, so that you don't read the story during the dialogue. Then, I will ask my reader to play the song, if they have it, at a certain point or phrase noted in my Author's Note. A great example of that would be from "Another Chance" from my first fic "Keeping Memories"

How "Write from the Heart" came to be...

Well originally I just wrote reviews with nothing at the end. then i read my first AAML. It touched me in a way (not THAT way!) and now I'm the softy... not intended as a pun but under the circumstances (seeing that this is FFN) "write" and "right" were intertwined. Now I use it every time that the "softy within" is inspired.

A note to Everyone!

Firstly... to all you Anti-"May Bashers"... everyone is entitled to their own opinion, don't think for a second that your always right. And there is no need to get violent!
Secondly... to all you "May Bashers"... as I stated above to the Anti-"May Bashers", everyone is entitled to their own opinion, you might not like May but some people do.
Thirdly... to all you "May Bashers"... You have no legitimate reason to loathe May, other than she replaced Misty, in all honesty, Misty most likely WILL come back. Ash and Brock constantly talk about the earlier times.
Fourthly... to all you Anti-"May Bashers"... we all have lives (except for me if I have to do this kinda thing) and we all have feelings. You also seem to hate the AAML type things. No reason for that. You have to keep an open mind.

Sincerely Yours,

Soft Flame Matthias
