Look who's back, having survived a disgusting junior year stuffed with APs, SATs, and other testing crap. Weighted classes suck! Actually, classes in general suck! Actually, school sucks! Huzzah! I'll be doing what I can before I have to scramble for college apps. YES. : Growing up in the indigenous rain forests of El Salvador I learned at an early age that the key to happiness is not to do drugs. After changing my sex multiple times and being manipulated into the sex slave market by a forceful Spaniard I got mixed up in the cruel and primitive cocaine industry in Columbia. All bad. The sex drugs and rare bit of polka were the ultimate combination that turned me into a crack whore. One cold September night I was abducted and thrown onto a whaling ship headed for China. After being mangled and robbed I was ditched with a small group of coastal nomads. The nomads stated the benefits of joining the Chinese circus, thus I was convinced and morphed into an Asian carny. Contortionism wasn't my thing so I moved to California with an ambitious family of scholars who were coincidentally heading to an area to provide an exceptional education for their children. Then I turned seven. I would just like to say that the stories I've written were all before I turned 15. Yeah. So. I didn't really know anything. So. If you wanna bitch and rant about how I don't understand life, it's true, I didn't. Just pointing that out, y'all. HEY! Guess What I Don't Like! 1. Cliches. Who doesn't? We're looking for something fresh here. C'mon. 2. Poorly written romance. I read my old fics and I wanna hurl. Was I THAT bad? Yes, I was. But I'm keeping them for the sake of others who enjoyed it (I'm not insulting your taste here...but...seriously now...). In all honesty, unless you've had your own heart broken, or known how it feels to truly love and care about someone...don't even bother trying. 3. People who write like they have no education. Mmm this always gets me. You guys learned grammar, right? Know where and where not to put a comma. Know how to use semicolons. You're driving me crazy here. Oh, and would it kill to use a dictionary? 4. Unnecessary text breaks. It doesn't hurt to write a paragraph. Come on now. THIS: "She walked to the kitchen. She boiled some water. She made tea." Drives me nuts. Unless it's for a certain effect (say to prolong the suspense of her waiting for something, perhaps) I understand. Otherwise...no. 5. Haters on the flamers, writers who can't take criticism, and the like. "OMG I HATEEE FLAMERST HEY R SOOOM EAAAN!!" A critic is not a flamer. Yes, there will be the occasional "This sucks." Ignore it. Who cares. Keep writing. It's their choice to read it or not. 6. Inexplicable events/moments/scenes. Haven't you ever come across a segment in a writing that was not a parody and seriously gone, "WTF." I have. Multiple times. It's not fun. Put some logic into it. | |||||||
