Oh and to whoever left that anonymous review on The Greatest Gift of All: from my perspective Watari (or Wammy if you will) wasn't really a parental figure. He was L's care taker since L grew up unable to cope with every day things. I don't think there was too much of an emotional level to it so much as a very strong practical level.
