Updates
20/4/08 - Okay, so I haven't updated in awhile. Forgive me. It's a combination of business and a crippling worry that whatever I'm writing is a mockery of the English language; both should pass.
27/3/08 - Took me long enough, but I have finished and posted the eighth chapter of A Commemoration of Diligence.
About Me
Literature: John Steinbeck, China Mieville, Ayn Rand, Jasper Fforde, Jodi Piccoult, Douglas Adams.
Music: The Beatles, Billy Joel, Queen, Michael Jackson, Josh Groban, The Old Ceremony, Bob Dylan, Broadway stuff.
Movies: Phenomenon (John Travolta, Kyra Sedgewick), City of Angels (Nicolas Cage, Meg Ryan), Superman Returns (Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey), Back to the Future (Michael J. Fox), The Green Mile (Tom Hanks), Michael (John Travolta), Stranger Than Fiction (Will Ferrell, Dustin Hoffman), Chicago (Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellwegger, Richard Gere), Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder), The Producers (Matthew Brodderick, Nathan Lane, Uma Thurman), The Truman Show (Jim Carrey), Help! (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison), A Hard Day's Night (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison).
Television: Heroes, Roswell, Dead Like Me, Danny Phantom (mostly just for the fan fiction), Angel, Bones, House, Eli Stone.
Hobbies: Writing (obviously), stage acting (locally, I mean. We have a very nice community theater system), reading, and . . . not much else.
Quotes:
"Why believe what antiquity tells us when the present is so often made of lies?" - from a Wall Street Journal review of The Egyptologist by Arthur Phillips.
"Don't be so humble - you are not that great." - Golda Meir.
"Hell is paved with good samaritans." - William M. Holden.
"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning." - Louis L'Amour.
"Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever." - Napoleon Bonaparte.
About Me, Generally: I like to think and I like to write, and I can only pray that ends up with thoughtful writing. I am currently in love with The Beatles, and if you haven't paid much attention to them before, go out and listen to them ASAP (start with their album Revolver or with Abbey Road). And I actually think that this is more than just a temporary fandom - I think that once something changes your entire way of thinking, it's pretty much a lifelong love.
Other than that, I like art and crap. Not visual art, since I'm not good at it, but movies and books and all that. I act in my community theater with increasing regularity, and . . . yes. I'm boring. I won't bore you anymore.
Stories
A Commemoration of Diligence - (Danny Phantom) After spending a year as a lab rat and a year in solitary confinement, Danny has been offered the chance to work as a field agent for the Guys in White. Though his new commander is hostile towards the idea, Danny enjoys the chance to get back in the game. But when Danny discovers that Valerie will be one of his teammates, he begins to feel the pull of home - and if Val's secret shocks him, he won't believe what's going on in Amity Park, or within the GIW itself. (no pairing, takes place when Danny is eighteen, disregarding the events in Phantom Planet) - incomplete as of 29/3/08 at nine chapters, fifty-four pages.
Mt. Ivory - (Danny Phantom) Thanks to a techincality in a law no one even knew existed, when Danny's secret is revealed again, he's shipped off to Mt. Ivory after being captured by the GIW, a place where everyone is treated well on the outside . . . but corruption reigns and there's something more than a little fishy about how people react to their jailing. And did I mention that anyone found to be physiologically non-human is automatically put up for sale to any rich idiot who decides to buy? (no pairing, takes place after Urban Jungle. AU only in that Vlad is not mayor of Amity Park) - complete as of 5/5/07 at twenty-two chapters, 119 pages.
The World in a Nutshell - (Danny Phantom) Thanks to a huge loop in the timestream, two Valeries swap places. One ends up in the universe we know so well, and our Val - well, she gets sent to a completely messed up timeline in which ghosts are slaves and Danny is one of them . . . and is owned by her family. And with Freakshow, the infamous Specter Stealer, on the loose, and in control of Vlad and Skulker, as well as a whole army of othes, she's not going to have it easy getting back. (Danny/Valerie, takes place primarily in an alternate universe. The part that's in the normal timeline is sometime after The Ultimate Enemy) - complete as of 10/5/06 at sixteen chapters, fifty-eight pages, revised as of 10/16/06.
The Tale Before Forever - (Danny Phantom, two oneshots, 'The Tale Before Forever' and 'Cheshire Grin') After having his secret revealed, Danny is accidentally killed by his father. Phantom watches as his other half's life crumbles. Meanwhile, one of Danny's classmates comes to the funeral and realizes something very important . . . (no pairing, could be taken as Fenton/Phantom slash. Takes place floating in the middle of the series somewhere) - complete as of 16/6/06 at two chapters, two pages.
Worth It - (Danny Phantom, twoshot) After several long, sleepless nights at Harvard, Jazz wonders if it was worth it, leaving Danny to fend for himself, and then she gets a phone call. (Jazz/Danny sibling angst. Takes place when Jazz is eighteen and Danny is sixteen) - complete as of 14/4/07 at two chapters, four pages.
A Weary Hero - (Danny Phantom, oneshot) Just because he saved the world Danny isn't immediately exempt from scorn. After a nasty, illogical break-up with Sam, Danny is left to deal with his usual (and mounting) problems on his own. But for a guy whose entire life is devoted to other people, exploitation is inevitable. (Danny/Sam, takes place after Phantom Planet) - complete as of 6/10/07 at one chapter, seven pages, revised as of 11/6/07.
Breadsticks, Uneaten - (Danny Phantom, oneshot) Danny trusts the wrong person to keep his secret and pays dearly for it. Perhaps it's time for him to give up this horrid game of hide and seek. (AT - does not take into account the events of Phantom Planet) - complete as of 22/10/07 at one chapter, nine pages.
Least Likely - (Harry Potter, oneshot) The single most absurd ending to the whole Harry Potter saga Zizi and I could think up. Demented and insane in equal parts. Very colorful. - (Snape/McGonagall, I guess. It's a parody, though, so don't get your undies in a twist, 'kay? Takes place at the end of the series) - complete as of 10/9/06 at one chapter, one page.
The Last Time the Phantom Flew - (Danny Phantom, oneshot poem) It's time for Danny to die. In poetry format. (no pairing, takes place sometime after the series ends) - complete as of 3/5/06 at one chapter, one page.
Ramblings of the Paunchy Patriarch - (Danny Phantom, oneshot poem) Jack has written a poem. Enough said. (no pairing, could take place anywhere in the timeline, really) - complete as of 23/3/06 at one chapter, one page.
The Impossible Double Lie - (Danny Phantom, oneshot poem) Some might say that life and death are lies. And perhaps it's true. But if it is . . . what does that mean for Danny? A poem on the very nature of his existence. (no pairing, no real location in the timeline) - complete as of 19/8/06 at one chapter, two pages.
The Wait - (Danny Phantom, poetry collection) Sam, Valerie, and Paulina - starting with the last and ending with the first, I'm tributing Danny's three major love interests throughout the show. Because, after all that waiting, don't they deserve it? - complete as of 4/9/07 at three chapters, three pages.
