Hey there,
first off, I want to take a moment to thank you
all- Yes, you authors, that you have created some of the most stunning
stories around King Arthur and the Roundtable that I have had the pleasure of reading in some time. Special thanks to Ivory Novelist, Goody and Ashley A
whose power of story telling have given me the courage to even imagine
bringing some of my rumblings back onto the internet and believing
(without ground or reason) that others might like it. And you, readers,
if you have taken the care and time to read anything from me. I
accpreciate it more than I could possibly say.
Maybe a word how this came
to be: I have studied the Myths of King Arthur since I can remember
(part time, later professionally) and writing about it was just a
natural consequence. As
usual other worries start to take over etc. Then the film came.
And
although the story is even mildly speaking... er, wrong, I hold the
Bruckheimer's version still very high in my opinion.
All
the stunning fanfiction out there proves all the critics wrong. Although History
went otherwise, the film has indeed sparked another interest in the
myth and that is all any Arthurian scholar could ever have asked for.
I
believe that there is a poetry in all the little things that surround
us, and that the proper words can make this poetry a lifesaving
experience: not to linger in darkness.
I am addicted to tea, coffee,
cinnamon and good stories, celtic music, chocolate (I'm Swiss remember?).
References
that build up my world:
J.R.R. Tolkien, All possible
variations of the Myths of the Round Table, poetry of almost all times,
epic climactic situations, celtic culture, History, Philosophy, respect
towards all
beings and things, friendship, commitment, dreams to die for,
perfection... and "music above all things" (Verlaine, Ars poetica).
Other obsessions and haunting powers:
The LotR movies, cinematography
in general, the sharp cheek bones of Orlando Bloom and Ioan Gruffud, as
well as the emotional depth of their eyes and stance, my work for the
veterans of WWII in the ETO (cf. www.wildbillguarnere.com, C.E.A.C., Fed. Franco-Brittanique), and
therefore BoB of course, WildBill and Babe's memories shared in a Dutch
Pub late in the night, Stephen Ambrose's call to remember the sacrifice
of any soldier dying for my European liberty, my family history and the
legacy of their fight... and finally living up to the expectations of
my boldest dreams.
Note to the Stories and Poems to King Arthur:
Some of the plot ideas and scenes are
quite old and I have to thank Bruckheimer and Co. for rekindling the
flame to reform them in completely different style, time and
images.
Please keep in mind that I am not an Englisch Native, all corrections -
whatever their nature - will be much appreciated and honoured.
