Author has written 8 stories for Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dexter, and Heroes. Allo!! I am a 21 year old Canadian medical science-chick (NOT a med doctor, but one day hopefully a Ph.D.) who also has an unproductive and probably unhealthy addiction to fandoms. I love to love. The frequency at which I write fanfiction can be labelled "sporadic" at best. Too often I'm occupied with re-watching old fandoms, finding and learning everything I can about new ones, and then of course reading the fics of others. I have started many fics only to never follow through. The ones you see posted here are ones of deep passion, simply because I finished them. I am a comment whore; I'd love to know what you thought of my stories. As much as I soak up praise, constructive criticism is always beneficial if it's actually that and not flaming. Saying "you're story sucks" never helped anyone, and it's not because it's grammatically incorrect :P If you're interested in my fiction, you should probably check out my fic-journal: wat-da-fic.livejournal.com . I am more likely to post there first and here on fanfic eventually; though as of September 27, 2009, everything is up to date. If you're interested in fandom related media, especially .gifs, you should head to my media journal: gif-a-lil-bit.livejournal.com . Fandoms I read and write for: -Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel (The Buffyverse, if you will), particularly Spike/Buffy. Spuffy is my OTP, now and forever. Other Fandoms I Love, but don't associate with fanfic (in no particular order): 24, Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies, Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Veronica Mars, True Blood, Dr. Horrible, Dollhouse, Firefly, House MD, Arrested Development, Will & Grace, Cult Films (Rocky Horror, A Clockwork Orange, Fight Club, etc.), Musicals (Moulin Rouge!, Grease, Sweeney Todd, etc.), Disney Films (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.), Classic Rock (The Beatles, Queen, The Who, etc.), Batman/Spiderman/X-Men (movies and animated series for all 3), The Silence of the Lambs Trilogy, Harry Potter. Fandoms I Will NOT Read Fanfic for: -Harry Potter, because anything I read will only tarnish the perfectly constructed world and plot that J.K. Rowling has brilliantly layed out in her novels. If I've Commented on Your Fic, Read This: Fan-fiction is such a fickle thing, I feel. On the one hand, it's a way of exercising your right as a fan to see the storyline go a certain way, or provide a circumstance for characters you like to interact in a certain way. You have the freedom to take these characters and stories and do whatever you want with them. That's one thing I adore about the world of fanfiction; you get to fill in the gaps, or extend the story, or take it in a new direction. The upside is, anyone can do it. The downside is, anyone can do it. I'm well aware of the fact that I'm not even remotely a perfect writer, but in order to deserve positive feedback, one needs to write well. I've used fanfiction for many years now, and for every excellent fic, there is a hundred mediocre fics, and a sea of just terribly written ones. If I feel that a fic is not good enough, at a certain level of writing and/or with an intriguing premise, then I won't comment. I don't believe that flaming bad writing inspires one to be a better writer; constructive critism does, so long as it's both honest and fair. However, I'm no English major; unless there's a blatant error that could simply be fixed by my commenting, then I choose not to. It's not my place. I'm not so arrogant as to think that my opinion of your writing is superior to others who enjoyed it, or you, who wrote it. If, however, I feel that your story was entertaining, engaging, well written, executed, etc., then of course I am more than willing to let you know. Thank you for giving me something for my troubles. So if I've commented on a fic of yours and you've found your way back to this page to see who the hell I am, know this: I honestly believe every word of my praise of your story. I don't think I'm better than anyone else, that my opinion matters more because it's mine; but from my heart of hearts, I feel that your fic was wonderful in some way. It's genuine positive feedback, not some sense of obligation; trying to make you feel better by making your story sound better than I thought it was, which is too often the case since we all want to just get along. If I comment, I mean it. | |||||||||||||
