By the gods! My eight year anniversary of FFN has arrived. It doesn't feel like I've been here for eight years. Actually, it feels more like I've been here for a century. Granted, there have been breaks off and on, but eh. Achievement Unlocked!

Moving on. I'll state in advance that I don't use beta readers, for many reasons (despite the fact that I do beta for other people). I'm too lazy to see them out, I'm too stubborn to listen to what they have to say, and I'm too impatient to go through the process of finish chapter, send to beta, wait for beta, post chapter. I'd rather just, finish chapter, post chapter, move onto next chapter.

I have a terrible habit of forgetting to put disclaimers at each chapter. For the record, I own nothing. I'm just a puny little fan who is hesitant to let the canon story end and therefore seeks a release of creativity in a familiar universe. Though I would probably consent to being a writing slave to people like David Gaider or Joss Whedon, if they'd let me.

Let's see. TK are initials for something old school. Grimm is a tribute to the Brothers. You folk have your Hawthorne, Hemingway, Twain, etc., but I've got my storytellers.

Seeing as I've been on this site for a long-ass time, don't judge my writing by my older stories. They're kept up here for my own amusement and for the people who still glance back at them and enjoy them from time to time.

Author/Story Recommendations

I made a Top Ten list with my friend SpeedDemon315 and decided to post my results here, though it wasn't easy, as I have quite a few favorites.

1. Oblivion - The Dark Brotherhood: A Listener's Tale by allshallfade

I really loved this piece. It's been in progress for years, and I believe it's on hiatus now, but it's a real quality work. It's basically just a novelization of the Dark Brotherhood story you play in the video game, but it's written beautifully, and that alone can make the difference.

2. Harry Potter - The author Flaignhan has probably the best portrayal of Tom Marvolo Riddle I've ever read.

Particularly the following stories: Restricted, Tempora Abducto, the Morning After Series (Part 1) (Part 2), and the Change series (part 1) (part 2) (omake). But there are others.

3. Naruto - Basically any story by Firefly. Particularly her Akatsuki fiction.

My favorite (which is what granted position #3) would be Face Value. It's a spectacular display of raw human emotion at it's finest.

4. Final Fantasy VII - Day in the Life Series by Tyramir

This is a series of one-shots. They go in no specific order and can be enjoyed as a group or separately. All wonderfully written, they follow a single day in the life of each of the Turks. While it may sound insignificant, the stories they tell are all so much more than that.

5. Naruto - Several stories by SpeedDemon315. The way she portrays characterizations, development, and twists in fantastic plotlines is just unrivaled.

Particularly the following stories: Bringing Back What's Dead and its Prequel, as well as the one shot Stop And Say You Love Me.

6. Gundam Wing/AC - To Heaven or Hell by C.Queen

This was one of the first fanfics I ever found on this site, waaay back in the day. I still love it. It takes what was already a fucking awesome anime and adds a great extra story that could easily have belonged there. It inspired my Beyblade storyPurgatory. It's witty and clever, there's action, and there's really just never a dull moment.

7. Harry Potter - Have a Nice Day! by Speechwriter

I don't usually enjoy AU stories (especially in a universe that I love as much as Harry Potter), but I gave this one a chance, and once I did, its claws gripped into me like talons. It takes a plain, ordinary story and makes it extraordinary. The quick, biting humor, the emotional roller coasters, and the dramatic, beautiful characterizations left absolutely nothing to be desired.

In addition to Speechwriter's impressive works, I believe uchiha.s deserves an honorable mention for her fuck-awesome portrayal of Mr. Riddle as well. She's got beautifully creative AU stories (The Scientist, Lacrimosa, and Panned) that make you just love to hate and love him.

8. Phantom of the Opera - Music of the Light by cslev

I was never fully satisfied with the ending of Phantom of the Opera, as excellent as it was. I couldn't help but wonder, "What if Meg had followed Erik in the end?" And lo and behold, I was not the only one with such a thought! Cslev has written this gem of a story with a very realistic flow of dialogue and story that gives very human characteristics to the cast. It flows beautifully and progresses at a steady pace; I greatly enjoyed this piece.

9. Pokemon - Saving Shard by Maia's Pen

I don't really know what drew me to this fic way back in the day, but I actually really enjoyed it! It's Misty and Gary from Pokemon, and it's not an AU (not really). It has a good amount of action and realistic dialogue (while being a bit blockbusterish, but hey, sometimes that method works). It was good enough to be in my top 10 though!

10. Axis Powers: Hetalia - Two Ways About It by VIII of XIII

This is one of the best one-shots I've read on the site. It's ridiculously long, has an omake, and it is beautifully detailed. Everyone is in-character, and it manages to tug on the heartstrings and make you laugh all in one. Seriously, if I didn't know better, I'd say this one fic here was canon.
