New!7-31-07 Where does time go?!
I am still living, if extremely limited in composition. I've been sitting on material since my last update--whenever that was--but if I can't reach even the paltry goal of 1,000 words per chapter, what's the point? Maybe half that may just have to do. Sorry. Thanks for the prodding, Kasi, and to all others who have given me encouragement. My plans for where I want it to be aren't entirely fuzzy, but "Meeting a Legend" has languished a long while. I read much, much, a thousand times much more than I write
Welcome!
However you found me, I'm glad you have! I'm appallingly feedback-oriented, so let me know if you want to see more of anything I've written. I can handle honest criticism, but please keep in mind that I'm attempting to improve, so do tell me why you dislike something.
I've had a gratifying response to the little bit I've posted, which will induce me to write more. Comments are extraordinarily helpful. I don't often have the time or creativity to write, but I create time when I think there is interest (in particular, not sleeping means more hours to do stuff), otherwise it will take even longer. I generally know what I mean to do, but my stories change when I put them on paper(or on screen), so I write them to see what they become. Once they've reached a certain degree of acceptable, I'll share them.
I want to be proud of my next post, and I'm not. It is too short and its quality is inconsistent. It is still coming, eventually. I only dabble in writing, as in anything else, but I will be back, though it take years. My sincere apologies, though I highly doubt I'm missed. I'm just glad someone notices me when I'm here!
I have many simultaneous projects, another reason why none of them are being finished; I bounce from one to the next when I do feel creative. Rurouni Kenshin remains my focus, but I am altogether too easily diverted by all of these other ideas. I will finish what I leave here, no matter how long it takes. That also means I won't be adding the other things I'm writing until I have a whole lot more of them done. I'm learning. I'm also lazy.
Most of my hypothetical Rurouni Kenshin fics are set during his wandering years. "Meeting A Legend" was primarily meant to highlight how rumor influences Kenshin's reality...not sure how well that's doing. I have sketched out at least two other encounters that don't really connect to anything. There's also a supernatural wandering one, in which Kenshin has all eternity as a ghost to forgive himself, and more that twiddle around in my head.
All my potential stories are listed, up to the letter "J", like an interesting DBZ/YYH crossover, YYH tournament Shizuru omake, HP house-elf, HP/RK horcruxes after the Half-Blood Prince, brief IY present-time view of Kagome's family, Trigun wandering, one Star Wars Sith-focussed, Rune Soldier adventure/romance, and Case Closed fusion with Death Note. When I'll ever have the time to write them, I've no idea. And I need to do more research. Everything I do needs work, but I'm focusing on dialogue and action as most lacking. The oneshot added wasn't ambitious enough to be on the master list, and yet I posted it, so it isn't even the comprehensive project guide I meant it as, ne?
I am an exclusively English-speaking citizen of the USofA, mais je suis trois courses de Francais en ecole il y a quatre ans...and haven't quite lost everything. I have a fondness for language which encompasses clever quips, use of words' shades of meaning, poetry, prose...puns. (Seldom innuendo, though.) Unfortunately, its use is yet another talent I both appreciate and lack. Like drawing, writing music, or even juggling bowling pins (I've almost given up entirely on all three of these), I don't believe I'll ever acquire sufficient proficiency to suit. So...I really don't suppose I ever will; that requires trying, not quitting. I'd rather continue trying to write, so any encouragement you could honestly give would be of assistance in that respect.
some of my favorite authors/books/series are the following: Watership Down, Tales from Watership Down; Richard Adams
Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit; Tolkien
Harry Potter; J.K. Rowling
Anne McCaffrey; Tamora Pierce; David Eddings; Mercedes Lackey; Orson Scott Card; Raymond E. Feist; Piers Anthony; Isaac Asimov; Andre Norton; Robert Jordan; Robin McKinley; Katherine Kerr; Terry Brooks; Terry Goodkind; Ed Greenwood; and others, though these come most easily to mind just now. You might also try Hayden's Symphony of Ages, now up to book eight, The Assassin King. I love libraries.
I also like anime and manga, like the following series:
Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Fullmetal Alchemist, Scrapped Princess, Trigun, Inuyasha, Case Closed, DB/Z
Shaman King, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Hikaru no Go, Death Note, Megatokyo
I rely heavily on Cartoon Network and Shonen Jump, as well as bookshop browsing.
I am a proud, if inactive, member of the former Rabid Conspirator Update Society, a forum originally formed with the main purpose of getting Conspirator and Co-Conspirator to post more frequently. It has been partially redefined, and is an alternative to the RK forums provided here at ffnet. Members seem mostly authors in the Rurouni Kenshin genre, but that is far from a requirement! We discuss other anime and favorite music, recommend worthwhile reading, and more! Please take a look @ http://s8.invisionfree.com/RCUS/index.php!
My LiveJournal account under la_librarienne is possibly worth viewing, includes some life events, and is typically updated slightly more frequently than here. It should be written in more, but I really don't write much anywhere. http://www.livejournal.com/users/la_librarienne/
In addition, I have a youtube account you may link through (I have uploaded no videos of my own). http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=benignintent
Most recently, I added my own fictionpress account http://www.fictionpress.com/u/558906/ for when my original work falls into place...snort
If you rely as much on favorites lists as I do, I include much I very HIGHLY recommend, and those authors often link you to ones they like, and so on. I encourage you to try this, and apologize that I've left out so many others I've found worthwhile. Though, if you located me...
