Author has written 69 stories for Tales of Symphonia, Legend of Zelda, Death Note, Golden Sun, Naruto, Harry Potter, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Ouran High School Host Club, World Ends With You, Hands Off!, and Supernatural. The Basics The icon was found on deviantART. I didn't make it. Please don't sue me. That aside . . . Yo, what up. I'm a nineteen-year-old English major attending Webster University. Due to the fact that I'm attending university AND working at a coffeeshop, you can expect my time to be a bit constrained, and wages to be tight - meaning that if you think I own any of the fandoms I write for . . . I don't. Honest. I wish I did, because then I wouldn't be broke, but I don't and I probably never will. You can call me Umi, by the way. I made this account years ago, which is why the username is all strange, but I don't want to change it now because I've had it so long. So, I'm Umi, and you can call me that. Or you can call me LLJ, if you know me from deviantART, but really, Umi works just as well and is probably best. =) My Projects Here is where I'll post information on all of my stories, fandom by fandom. So if you're wondering if I'm going to update, if a story is dead, whatever - you can find out here. For the record, though, NONE of my stories are dead, nor will they ever be. But still, here's a status corner. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me - I'll be happy to answer. Tales of Symphonia Easily my most involved fandom of probably my entire life. Right now, these stories are on HIATUS, INCLUDING Recover. However, Recover is STILL my baby, and rest assured, it WILL be finished. The problem is that I have The World Ends With You on my brain right now, and when I'm focused so heavily on that, it's hard to concentrate on much else. The exception to this is the odd one-shot (which is usually posted over on my deviantART account, Low-Light-Justice) and the Symphonanniversary fanfiction (I head up the Tales of Symphonia Fifth Anniversary project over on deviantART, and am the leader of the Fanfiction Team). So, sad to say that things are on hiatus for the moment. This does NOT mean that the stories are dead, NOR are they up for grabs. It just means that I'm taking a break from Aselia right now, and WILL return there in the future. The World Ends With You Very close contendor with Tales of Symphonia as being my most involved fandom in my entire life. Currently, I have four stories for this fandom that are chaptered stories (with a fifth nagging at my brain, a sixth prodding me every now and then, and a potential seventh that's just as cracky as Getting Schooled that keeps kissing me, hoping for its time to shine). I've put them on a rotator in order of publication date, which is as follows: Getting Schooled --> Guardian --> Unwanted Interference --> Detonation. However, I've already been somewhat bad about this and updated Guardian before Unwanted Interference, and Detonation as well. Oops. Technically Unwanted Interference should get the next update, but it's giving me trouble, and I've already started chapter four of Guardian. Since Guardian is the main story REGARDLESS of rotation, I don't feel too bad about this, but I think it is sort of fail of me to break the rotation so early. Sorry, guys. Nonetheless, I'm still concentrating on all four of these stories, and I'm trying to refrain from starting a new chaptered fic until I finish at least one of these. Though, since Getting Schooled is more cracktastic than anything else, I don't know if it will ever have an end in sight . . . Well, we'll see, won't we? Hands Off! Much like Tales of Symphonia, my fics for this fandom are on hiatus. Not too much of a letdown, considering that the fandom is practically dead, but since I had updated fics for it for a little while there, I figured it would get a profile mention. One Last Note: Thoughts About Shipping Since shipping is such srs bzns when it comes to fandom, I figured I'd just throw my thoughts on it down right here and now, so that it's there once and for all, so that no one has any question. Or, so that if they do have questions, maybe they can just PM me and I can clarify rather than responding with a dissertation of my thoughts. Pretty much, the way I ship is as follows: primarily canon. My favorite ships in fandom are usually the ones that are canonically evident, because those are the ones where I can see the most chemistry. I can't help it, it's just the way that my brain works. So for Tales of Symphonia, you'll find that my four main ships are Lloyd/Colette, Zelos/Sheena, Kratos/Anna, Yuan/Martel. Point blank, hands down. That being said . . . That being said, I DO like to experiment a little. Kratos and Yuan will always, always stay with their respective canon partners, but I do like to experiment with Zelos/Colette. Those two have much in common with back history and all, and I like to experiment with Zelos by seeing how he reacts to being around his fellow Chosen - someone whom he can let his guard down with, because she knows exactly how it feels to have to smile even when you're hurting, to have to pretend to love your life when really you want nothing more than to run away and never look back. But, that being said . . . There are non-canon ships that bother me, such as Lloyd/Sheena. I cannot stand that pairing. I will not write that pairing, I will not read that pairing - I just honestly can't stand it. I could write a ten page paper on why I don't like it, probably, but suffice it to say that I don't like it, and will probably never like it. But . . . that's Tales of Symphonia specific, isn't it? Sorry. My point is, I ship canon in most of my fandoms (the only fandom I can think off the top of my head that I don't ship canon in practically at all is Harry Potter, but that's another matter altogether), so when it comes to the things I write, you'll most often find canon pairings - or the closest to canon that you can possibly get. I already listed my Tales of Symphonia ships, so for reference, when it comes to The World Ends With You, if I write romance, you'll primarily find it between Neku/Shiki and Kariya/Uzuki. However, I also like to experiment with Minamimoto/Konishi and Beat/Eri, with possibly a little Joshua/Rhyme, Neku/Rhyme (maybe), and one-sided Joshua/Neku, though not in a romantic way - more of in a possessive way. Then again, that's doubtful because . . . To tell you the truth, I'm not really crazy about shipping. I realize that it's srs bzns, and I respect that, but I'm just not too crazy about it. To be honest, romance has never really given me the warm fuzzies. I mean, I see the appeal of it, but lay it on too thick and I'll feel squirmy. It makes me uncomfortable for reasons that I can't explain. I could psychoanalyze myself and possibly find the answer, but I really don't care to. Nonetheless, if you look at my fics, you'll find that I tend to favor the general genre, or the friendship genre, or the family genre - especially the latter to, because while I don't get all squeeful over romance, I definitely squee over paternal/fraternal bonds. Those are the types of bonds which make me feel all warm and fuzzy, which you may have guessed due to the fact that Guardian is completely about that bond between Neku and Mr. Hanekoma. So, to summarize, I have my opinions on shipping. Who in fandom doesn't? But while I have my opinions, I typically don't write romance fiction, because I find that I prefer general or friendship/family fiction better. Romance is all fine and dandy, but it's not necessarily my cup of coffee. I can't really say why, but that's how it is.
