Author has written 15 stories for Tekken, Bloody Roar, Dynasty Warriors, and Resident Evil. The Siren: - A 26 year old lover of video games with a paticular fondness for Resident Evil and Bloody Roar!! My feats include - Establishing Jin/Miharu coupling in the Tekken section as well as starting off the Shenagi (ShenLong x Nagi) pairing in the very rooted Bloody Roar catagory. As well as bringing some extremely odd pairings to the table too... sometimes... Favourite Games:- Resident Evil, Bloody Roar, Silent Hill, Tekken, Sudeki, Haunting Ground, Metal Gear Solid, Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors & Kessen 2. A Siren FAQ: - 1. What is your stance on Yaoi/Yuri? I'm pretty supportive of yaoi and yuri pairings, even if I'm not the biggest fan - I suppose it depends on the pairing. Out of both, I do prefer Yuri. 2. Do you go by review quotas for updating your stories? Never. I write for fun and to entertain people. Reviews are merely a much appreciated bonus. I find it silly that people actually do this - I don't get the logic. 3. Will you be writing in the Tekken catagory again? When I left the Tekken catagory around 2008, I was in the frame of mind that I probably wouldn't write there again. This could change in the future as I do from time to time play Tekken again and it reinspires me. I don't think I will have the same sort of enthusiasm for the series as I once did all those years back, but I don't think it would stop me from writing a short story if I ever came up with a good idea for one. 4. You write a lot about the secondary characters in the Resident Evil series. Why is that? I just find them more interesting and likable. You can probably guess that I really like Rebecca Chambers - she probably is my favourite character in the franchise. It seems I just like characters that aren't that well loved all round. I am particularly a fan of the S.T.A.R.S. characters, particularly the lesser known ones. They are mysterious as we only know so much about them from manuals and such. Makes them more pliable when I get to write about them and shape them into more 3-Dimensional characters. Even though I chose to write Sherry Birkin's story from Resident Evil 2, I'm not that big a fan of her, but I find her to be not as irritating as some people say she is. I suppose when it comes down to it, those characters who are more in the background then some of the more central characters, are the ones that I find more appealing. I guess I'm a fan of the spunky sidekick over the ass kicking hero. 5. Are there characters in the Resident Evil series you don't like? Oh yes. I have a big time dislike for two in particular. Albert Wesker and Leon S. Kennedy. Yes, probably two of the most popular characters of the series. When it comes to Wesker, I am probably from a very small group of people that wondered why the heck Capcom brought him back in the first place? Was it simply to prolong the S.T.A.R.S. arch of the story? I couldn't tell you. And one thing that I really want to know - Was Wesker all that popular in the original version of Resident Evil 1? I mean, he fit into the typical role of the backstabbing money grubbing traitor - though it wasn't particularly helped much by his voice actor hamming up his dialogue - but he didn't seem like anything special at the time (though his artwork for that game did make him look like a blonde Robert Patrick with shades on - which I liked.). I mean, was he brought back due to popularity, or was it really that it was such a random, unexpected revival to make for shock value in the series? Whatever the reason, he came back, and suddenly he is the new big supervillian with SUPER POWERS!! And apparently, he had the foresight to inject himself with a virus beforehand and get himself killed and whatever to severe his ties with Umbrella and whatnot. Honestly, the biggest thing about Wesker that bugs me is the whole super foresight he suddenly gains throughout the series. That he suddenly had a hand behind the scenes for practically every game in the series. I think he just got to stage where I simply saw him as being overblown. And to say I don't like him, I think his death sequence in Resident Evil 5 was pretty lackluster for how much of a SUPERVILLAIN he has been hyped up to be (to rocket launcher blasts into a volcano - it sounds more epic then it actually was...) - and with the virus injections, his wanting to be 'God' and the Wesker children thing - it all turned into a cartoony mess. I guess when you big up a character so much, eventually something is going to go wrong. I pray that he stays dead this time - even as there is some consideration to him returning - I think once was enough, a second time would be clichéd and boring. He's done his time as the big supervillain. Let someone else be the big bad for the Resident Evil series. Now, onto Leon. While on the other hand I never liked Wesker, I did at one point think Leon was alright. And that was Resident Evil 2 era Leon, the rookie cop, who tried to take some authority in a crisis and was pretty much ignored by everyone around him. Poor guy. He was the kind of likeable hero character that wasn't over bigged - having vulnerabilities while at the same time, showing courage and intelligence even in a time of crisis. And then came Resident Evil 4. Oh... Boy... I couldn't believe how much of an ass they turned him into. A cocky, arrogant poser. He was a cliché of every action movie star, spitting out one liners and cracking jokes at inappropriate times (with most of which being unfunny and odd sounding). It was just one of the most shocking changes to me for a character in the series. Now he just seems like he's 'too good' for everyone. While he was a little more tolerable in the Degeneration CGI movie, I found that was only because they'd dropped the wise-cracking part of him, but I still couldn't like him. He was just too up himself - and he didn't seem to actually change his expression at all during that movie. He was deadpan throughout. I can see why the fangirls swarm on him - he's a hero with dashing good looks suitable for a poster boy. For me, he just looks too broody and anti-social. I'm sad that this was the direction they thought was best for his character. His overall personality is really so, well... repulsive. I would also say that I'm not much of a fan of Ada Wong anymore. Its the same with Leon. Resident Evil 2 had her as a conservative and mysterious spy. And then Resident Evil 4 comes along as she's suddenly a coy seductress in an inappropriate outfit. Any time she's appeared after then, she's been more to this type of character (and they even remade her RE2 outfit to be more sexy to go along with her personality - so, leggings were replaced with stockings and flat shoes with heels... I don't see why they did this at all?). I can say that I'm more tolerant when it comes to Ada, but she's no longer a character I truly enjoy seeing on screen. 6. Do you plan to write anymore Bloody Roar stories? Actually, I do. While I know the catagory is barely active, I do like to add my contribution every now and then when I have an idea that I know I will stick with. Having had a lot of failed works over the years with Bloody Roar, I kind of gave up a bit with it, but I do think now that I have plenty of fresh ideas to go with and that I would be commited to seeing a story through to the end. Keep you eyes peeled for any new ones in the not too distant future. 7. Do you expect to do anymore Dynasty Warriors stories? At some point, yes. I've got the ideas and I will flesh them out at some point. 8. Who are your favourite Bloody Roar characters? Its hard to choose. I'm quite a big fan of Cronos and Nagi, and I am especially a fan of Alice since the beginning. Can't forget my soft spot for Long as well! These characters rank as my top favourites and are the ones I love to write about the most. 9. What are your favourite genres? I have a varied taste in the types of stories I like to read and write about. I like a good comedy, though its not something I really aim to write myself - if I have comedy, its only a sprinkling in a story under a different genre. I think my two main favourites are romance and angst. Firstly, with romance, I love a good plotted story that doesn't carry too much slush but certainly explores the characters attractions and motivations when it comes to wanting a relationship to form. And angst, which is something I apply a lot to my writing. Characters suffering in turbulant situations and conflicted against characters they are usually close with. I like to see a heavy mix up that leads eventually into a satisfying resolution. While I like some action stories, I tend to steer clear of them myself, and try not to handle them too much myself in writing. I don't like these fast paced, situation based stories that just flings you and the characters along for the ride. I like the emotional situations and character development - where you can get inside their heads and understand them and try and see things the way they do. The Siren Speak's: - 14th October 2011 Just to keep you informed of story progress. While it is taking time to do, Epic will be seeing chapters soon, as I would like to - though can't say - finish the story before the end of the year. On the other hand, Tomorrow of Yesterdayis a completely different matter. Because of the complexity and length of the story mixed in with the fact that I am starting to drift a bit from Resident Evil, I am temporarily putting this story on hold. It is something I'm certainly not abandoning, but its something I'm taking my focus away from for the time being as I don't feel inspired to carry on with it currently and I certainly don't want to do a shoddy job of a work I really want to come out great. Though, in other news, I am really psyching myself up to do a Dynasty Warriors story. Keep your eyes peeled for that one!
