Belladonnacordial's Profile

Hello all!

I have decided at long last to add a more personal aspect to my page. No idea if anyone else reads these. I took a couple of the 'tests' that are posted. They are not accurate. I sort Gryffindor. I am no Gryffindor. I would be least happy in that House. I would make a better Hufflepuff than Gryffindor. Reading was my first love. Ravenclaw might have been the best place for me. Were I eleven and had a choice though, I'd sort Slytherin. If those tests were the Hat, I'd sort Slytherin.

I have a job that provides me responsibility and security, flexible hours, and lots of free time. I have lived with the same familiar for nineteen years. He is my second love. I live with my beloved, er paramour? consort? and have for the past nine years. He is my third love. I've been an avid reader and writer ever since I could read on my own at a young age. I graduated with honours and have a Masters in English Literature. I read books every day when I really should be doing other things. The most expensive thing I own is my book collection. I write every day. I'm fond of plays. Yes, I generally prefer reading them to watching a performance. The one exception to that rule so far was seeing James Earl Jones perform Othello live. Then again Othello is not my very favourite Shakespearean play, while Mr. Jones is one of my favourite actors. Yes, Alan Rickman is another. He is a part of but not the whole reason for my fondness for Snape. I've adored Snape since I met him in the first book.

Rant of the Day

The following is a rant/public service announcement. Though I attend films and watch DVDs, I do not watch television. Life is precious and short. I consider television an extremely expensive addiction and feel lucky that I was never hooked. The last time it had a decent opportunity to osmose into me was during the mid 1980's. If you want to feel like an alien on planet Earth, all you have to do is stop watching television for twenty years. Every day people try to talk to me about programmes that I have never seen and never will see. I don't just mean the odd reference here and there, which is completely acceptable. Far too many people converse about nothing else. People feel sorry for me I thinking I am socially handicapped and culturally deprived by the lack of television in my life. Total strangers will take any amount of time away from living their own lives to explain their favourite programme, the entire season, the whole story arc, and the parent show on which it was based. More than a few try to describe commercials to me as if receiving corporate funding to complete my life with this knowledge.

If you meet someone like me or a recovering television addict please have a heart. Try to sell us insurance or convert us to your religion if necessary. Anything, any subject at all is preferable. Talking about television to us is like describing the taste of cocktails to the Temperance League or at the local AA meeting. Thank you for your time.

I find it unlikely the above rant would inspire a FAQ answers list. Nevertheless here it is:

(1) I do realize there must be something on the telly worth watching. I simply choose not to watch. I can't imagine that I will look back when I'm ancient and regret that I missed television shows.

(2) I'm sorry you see no difference between watching DVDs and watching television. I do.

I'll just keep adding to this as more questions arise.

BELLADONNA'S SNAPEVERSE RECS

Not all the great fan fiction is on fanfiction.net, unfortunately. This is where I'll list some tremendously clever, must-read stories that I have found elsewhere. If these won't work as links, you can copy and paste. I'll check them every time I water my house plants, so that they won't die on me. Yes I am mad about Snape or perhaps just mad. He has bewitched my mind and ensnared my senses.

The Long Black Coat by bloodcult_of_freud -Snape/Hermione as told by a very unreliable narrator, her mother. It's a post-War-Muggle-apocalpse-because-Voldemort-wins tale. Piercing, spiteful, insightful, beautiful and happily ever after. I rate it very soft R and just brilliant. By the way, all this writer's work is incredibly great.

In Between Days by atrata -Snape/Harry slash. I rate it hard R, M, whatever.

(This is the ultimate 'Snape takes Harry from Privet Drive' story, in my humble opinion. Hot, paranoid, and surreal, disturbing and did I mention hot?)
