Author has written 8 stories for Star Wars, and Teen Titans. Hi there! Since you've stopped by my profile, I might as well tell introduce myself: A little about me: First off, yes, I am a guy. That sort of makes me a minority on this site. I've always said you can usually tell if it's a girl writing by how much description is put into the clothes a character wears. Girls usually use a lot of detail. Don't believe me, look for yourself! ;) Anyway, I am a nerd, that much I've figured out, though I do love sports and mindless activities as well. I've actually enjoyed writing long before posting on this site, though as of now I've decided to take a shot at writing original stuff. Well, as you can see, I do like Star Wars and eventually grew to like Teen Titans (mostly the comics, the tv show was alright), though those two are just one among many. I'm actually a bigger fan of Lord of the Rings, although I haven't posted anything under that category. As an author, I have come to accept that I'm a sucker for epics, though I try not to write solely in that genre. I'm also obscenely lazy, and sometimes I wonder how I'm even able to muster the energy to write long stories. My favorite story I've written, and my most reviewed, is definitely "Far Away". My longest story (as far as chapters) is "Past's Secrets", which was also the first story I submitted to this site. My angst-iest story is "Tearing Me Down", which is loosely based on Pink Floyd's "The Wall". My least-favorite story is "Clash of Worlds", although it seems to have gotten good reviews. As I said, I really enjoy writing. Though I'm lazy, the ability to put your own imagination into words is just an awesome feeling. It's always fun to browse this site or other story sites to see people unleash their creativity. That said though, there are some things that I really am not fond of when it comes to this sort of thing. Here are some rants about fanfiction or writing in general: People who can't use quotes, paragraphs, or correct punctuation - If you're in elementary school, I can excuse it. But people who are old enough to know what quotes are have no excuse! This isn't AIM! Please, if you're going to write, at least write so people can actually read it. Profanity - Normally I don't mind it, but it can be overdone. Using profanity too much just shows you really lack the vocabulary to express yourself better, doesn't it? Slash - I despise slash in all its form. Now if it was canon slash, it'd be alright. But I simply can't stand it when people change a character's sexual orientation just to suit their own tastes. They're not your characters, people! You might as well write your own characters than trying to warp someone else's. The same thing goes for just writing a character completely out of the norm. The only reason some people do it is to satisfy their own personal desires or to make a character their own, and that's something that annoys me to no end. It's selfish, and it doesn't show the creators of the character any respect at all. Male Pregnancy - Don't. Just don't. Bashing - Not much to say here, except that people who write fics just to bash (and I don't mean just lightly make fun of) a fictional character need to get a life. Mary Sues - even if it's not fanfiction, characters who are written to purposely be better than everyone else just really get on my nerves. Flawless characters really have zero appeal for me, and for a lot of people as well. It makes for a boring read, and again, people who write a character just satisfy their own desires or to outshine other characters might as well write an original story. Ha ha, well, I guess that's all for now. Check out my stories if you have the time! Even though I'm pretty much done writing fanfiction (for now), I still appreciate other people's opinions on my work. For those interested, I'm toying with several original ideas I'd like to post on fictionpress in a few months. Thanks for reading! | |||||||||
