To me, good writing isn’t necessarily about spelling or correct grammar. I know tons of people who are able to spell and conjugate their verbs right. Writing, in all its insincerity and truth, becomes great when it is yours, and yours alone. The day people recognise your voice out of a million other stories is the day you’ll know you’ve achieved a greater level of writing than simply describing a landscape in five different metaphors. You’ll have created something that’s entirely your own. On ffn.net I always write about Scorpius Malfoy & Rose Weasley, because I've gotten comfortable with them as a concept. The fun thing about writing them is that they don't have a canon personality and I can therefore create and alter them as much as I want. While doing so I usually relate them both to myself and other friends of mine - so don't come whining about them being unrealistic or God forbid, OOC. They're very real to me and there is no such thing as OOC in the second generation. It might surprise you, but people don't always have to become their Mum or Dad the Second. That said; there's usually some profanity in my work, so if you're offended by that, don't bother reading (or refrain from bitching about it) and safe us both the annoyance. I cannot stand people favouriting without reviewing. I understand people alerting without saying anything, because alerting usually means that you're interested and still waiting for what's going to happen next. Favouriting, au contraire, means that you really like a story. It takes time to write. Reviews make the time worthwhile. Cheers. (Postscript: English is not my native language, it's far from perfect in fact, so I'll always appreciate it when you point out my mistakes.) | |||||||||
