Author has written 117 stories for Series Of Unfortunate Events, Marching Band, Danny Phantom, Nightmare Before Christmas, Myst/Riven, Edgar Allan Poe, Shakespeare, Inheritance Cycle, Dexter, Phantom of the Opera, Batman, and Batman Begins/Dark Knight. Hi, I'm Sugary Snicket, and I am a big fan of Myst, both the book series and TV show Dexter, The Phantom of the Opera (Book with some movie and musical thrown in), The Dark Knight, and A Series of Unfortunate Events. I do not currently watch the show Danny Phantom, but I still have some interest in it. I am, however, a huge fan of the stop-motion-animated Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas. I also have some interest in the musical Cats, The Inheritance Cycle, and Harry Potter, but nothing too serious. I adore horror stories and love a good Poe-esque or Lovecraftian horror tale, though I sadly do not see many of the latter (By the way, if anyone knows of where the Dark Knight fanfic called "The House That Smiled" went, would they please tell me? It was one of my favorite stories and I cannot seem to find it anymore). I suspect this is due to the Cthulhu Mythos pretty much being its own genre of fiction, and therefore publishable under copyright laws, but if anyone knows of some good Lovecraft/Other Fandom crossovers, by all means, tell me! My favorite type of candy is Reese's cups, and I sometimes will hole up with a bag of them and write for hours on end. Despite this behavior, I still manage to stay my original tiny self. Maybe I have a fast metabolism? (Yes, I have a life outside of writing. Yes, it actually involves physical exercise, believe it or not.) I also love to write, and of other stories on this site, I must say that there are some very good ones. I have also won all of the Myst games several times, but I try not to let it all go to my head. (rolls eyes) In my spare time, hobbies include: practicing my Oboe, playing video games, reading, listening to music, drawing, riding my bike (weather permitting), and posting on various message boards. I have been on Fanfiction.net for four years as of the Summer of 2005. As stated above, I have written over 100 stories, poems, and one-shots, the majority of those being for ASOUE. I originally wrote for the ASOUE fanbase, (as evidenced by my username) with some Danny Phantom thrown in. I was relatively 'young' in my writing abilities then. I eventually came to write for Nightmare and later, Myst/Riven and a little Eragon. I do not write for any specific genre, though I tend to divide my stories and poems into two categories: the Serious and the Not-So-Serious. As for writing style, I LOVE suspense and I love dark subject matters even more, and you'll find that it shows mostly in the more Serious stories (though I do sometimes add humor in to break up the tension!). The Not-So-Serious stories tend to be dryly humorous, reflecting my sarcastic sense of humor, though some can be flat-out pointlessly random. I generally try to aim for a good mix of Serious and Not-So-Serious when writing the atypical story for that fanbase, and I also try to add more vivid descriptions of the setting of a story, or, failing this, more vivid descriptions of the characters. I also have a strict desire to finish all stories that I write, partially because of my near Obsessive-Compulsive drive to finish something I've begun, so you should almost never see a story that I have abandoned in mid-plot. I do sometimes take a long time to get a story finished and posted, however, sometimes going from a week to half of a month, but I always come back. (I tend to tell myself to NEVER leave a story unfinished for more than a month, lest people forget it more easily.) You may not see a new story from me for quite some time, due to my rather busy social life, but I occasionally may pop in from time-to-time with a short one-shot, songfic, or poem to tide the fans over. I also update my profile frequently, as I am always finding inspiration for new story ideas somewhere, so be sure to check back every so often! Currently, I am experimenting with short fiction both here and over at my Fictionpress account (SugarRayne), so don't expect any multi-chapter stories for now. I've mostly wrapped up my current huge fanfiction ideas and I am in the process of purging ideas that will probably never get written, so it may be a while before some new stuff comes out. This does not mean that I've forgotten my roots or the fanfiction community who has been so kind to me, it just means that I'm moving to something else for now. Myst, Dark Knight, and PotO stuff are my focus points right now, but it is mostly poetry and short drabbles. I support the following ships: - ASOUE: Violaf (Within reason), Quiglet, Klausidora, Fernald/OC, Eslaf, the occasional Kliona, and Lemonitrice. Klauslet Sibling relationship is also supported. Yeah, I just like to smoosh names together for the heck of it. XD In that order, my fave characters from each of those fanbases are as follows: - Violet. With all due respect, Sugary Snicket PS: Please be on the lookout for the following fanfictions I will soon be posting on this site when I get the time. Please note that the dates here are only SPECULATED dates of publication and are subject to change at any time. How To Decipher my Expected Publishing Dates My expected DOPs are listed at the end of the stories' description in bold. Below is a quick overview of what they mean. + Coming Soon: This means that the story is still being debated as to whether it is an interesting enough story to write and post. It also means that I have yet to plan it out, or I may have planned it, but I have not started to write it yet. A completed story will be erased from the list entirely because there is no longer any need for the information to be up. NOTE: I have recently moved all my old crossover stories (or at least the ones that could be moved) into the new crossover section that has been set up. That means that Bind, The Malevolent Mansion, and A Series of Paranormal Events: Bad Beginnings will no longer show up in the old categories. You shouldn't need to update any links, but if you do, I apologize for the inconvenience. I also renamed my short cask of Amontillado 'sequel' to 'Broken cask', so look for it under that. Again, I apologize for any problems that this may have caused.
The misery and woe has come to a lamentable end... I regret telling this my loyal fans in this section, but I'm no longer writing for ASOUE. I just don't have time for it anymore, and I'm beginning to feel forced when I try to work on an ASOUE story. Even "It's A Wonderful Life, Klaus" was a huge stretch for me, and if the writer is not enjoying what they write, how can they expect the reader to? I'm dreadfully sorry, but it was time I laid my ASOUE career to rest.
Welcome to Your Worst Nightmare. This section is on hiatus, so currently Jack Skellington and all of the other members of Halloween Town are lying asleep in their coffins, hibernating and dreaming of the day when Sugary will awaken them from their long slumber - and I intend to do so with a bang by submitting "Origins - Vengeful Swarms", the companion to "Origins - Rise of the Pumpkin King". Right now, however, I have other things to work on, so they won't be awakened any time soon... Origins - Vengeful Swarms: Sequel to "Origins - Rise of the Pumpkin King". This story takes place a little bit after the first "Origins" does, and continues the story, but from Oogie's POV. Explains more about what happened after Oogie's death. Oogie is scheduled to narrate - let's hope that Sugary isn't kidnapped THIS time! Also explains a bit about Lock, Shock, and Barrel's pasts and how they came to work for Oogie. This story will probably be shorter than its predecessor, but only because Jack's story (in my mind, anyway) had so much depth to it. Rated the same as its predecessor for the same things - K+. (Humor/Action/Adventure) ON HIATUS. Not Another Nightmare! (Working Title): You ever read "A Christmas Carol" before? Ever imagine that same thing with another holiday? This is my take on it, using characters from Nightmare and a few made-up ones as well. A teen does not believe that Halloween is fun or should even be a holiday, so Jack, Sally, and Lock, Shock and Barrel set the kid straight. This story is due out sometime in October (but not this year) to make it more festive. K, probably. (Humor/General) ON HIATUS. Myst/Riven Live The Journey... Because this section has been such a fertile idea plantation for me, Myst fans have something to look forward to. As a matter of fact, even if you aren't a Myst fan, you might like many of these stories - few post in the Myst/Riven section anymore (giving us a surprising lack of good Mystfic), and even fewer go there, so reviews would be appreciated. Even though it's beginning to come back (Myst newbies?), there's still not enough - the baddies especially could use more. I do, however, have a lot to work on this summer, so I may not get around to very many new ideas. Don't fret, fans of Locusani - its sister story, Revilani, is coming soon, and more poetry will come as I see fit. I also regret to inform you that I have dropped the idea for my personal Myst journal series The Stranger's Story: Tales of Other Worlds. I am, however, planning on doing something for Gehn, possibly even something for Atrus or the Brothers, but at this point, I'm still not sure. In other words, I'm waiting near the cleft for a possible idea to drop out of the Star Fissure. XD Locusani: Revilani: Yes, this is the real, genuine title. The name derives itself from the Narayani word for "revelation", and in turn, this tale will 'reveal' what might have happened as an alternative to the real ending - In other words, it's a short story collection about the different bad endings that one could possibly get, told through Saavedro's eyes. Please note that this is NOT a sequel to Locusani, but a follow-up, a semi-sequel, if you will. With this collection, I dare you, the reader, to step into Saavedro's shoes once more and take this journey back into insanity with me... Probably will be rated T for similar things to what Locusani was rated for. Will probably also be in the same genre as Locusani. Because these stories all deal with bad endings, the entire thing is AU. In Progress (Please Review!) The Blood of a God (Working Title as of Now): A short fic about Gehn and his thoughts on life, Riven, and the pursuit of Godhood. Is currently slated as a drabble, but will probably become a oneshot. I don't do much with Gehn, as Riven really wasn't my favorite of the games, but I feel that it's high time I break out of writing for just Saavedro and do some stuff for other characters as well. As stated above, I might write some stuff for the brothers or for Atrus, but as of now, that's on the back burner. But back to this. Will most likely be rated K to K, possibly T if I go deeper. Probably (General). Coming Soon. Eragon/Eldest Save a Dragon, Ride a Rider... ;) This section's ideas are beginning to seem... meh. I still have the Eragon script slated, though, so keep checking back. And there's always the occasional poem of mine. This section is way at the bottom of my priority list right now, however, so don't expect loads of new ideas. Eragon Live: Ever get really bored with just reading or watching the story? Ever want to... be a character? Here's your chance - a stage adaptation of Eragon for any group of fans insane enough to want to try it. Sorry, no Twins, Katrina, Urgals, or soldiers - Solembum is in it, though! (Feel free to add any extra characters in if you so wish.) And... there's more of Durza than in the book! And... Galbatorix actually appears for a few moments, unlike in the book! And... Arya might actually NOT be a Mary Sue! Based slightly on movie parts and slightly on book parts, but more so on the book. And you all had better give me credit if you use this, lest Durza come back from the dead to haunt you... This is on the back burner right now, but I'm hoping that it'll be finished soon. Probably a K+ to a T, I'm not certain. (Drama/General). ON HIATUS. PotO Let The Dream Begin... Working on mainly poetry and drabbles here, and it'll probably stay that way. I've never been good at writing Romance fics, so if I do write an actual story for this fandom, it will more than likely be book-based and more into the Horror side of the story. But who knows? Something Romantic may pop up, and if not Romance, then something else entirely. (Untitled): A so far untitled work that parodies, lampoons, and satirizes PotO as a whole. I have, however, only read the book once in its entirety, so I have a lot to work on. I also have my hands tied with Revilani; as a result, this story will probably not make its way into the public eye for quite some time. I predict it'll be more of a success with the Leroux fans rather than the Webber fans, but that's just me. :) Just to be on the safe side, I'm predicting a K+ to T rating, as I don't know if there'll be sexual innuendo or strong language yet. Obviously (Parody/Humor). ON HIATUS. Box Five: This short story details why you listen when someone tells you not to go into a haunted theater box... Features an Oc in one of my fics, something I normally do not do. This is just a short little spooky tale about the events that befall one unlucky patron who dares enter the Opera Ghost's reserved box. (Horror/Suspense), as it rightfully should be. ;) Probably a K+. Coming Early Fall 2009.
I can Make A Pencil Disappear... Right now, it's all poetry, but due to the overwhelming success of Smile, I am working on a few short stories for it right now. I also have a few song parodies and poems in mind and perhaps some additional Joker scar stories, and I'm contemplating a Joker/Rachel one-shot, but that's really not my top priority right now. It doesn't even have enough planning to be worth mentioning here. Why? So Serious!: A very brief first-person Joker drabble. I honestly don't know why I'm even putting it down just yet. Should show up soonish; will be a T-rated, (General) story. Coming soon. Ninety-five percent of teenagers are concerned about being popular.
