| Nienna's Scriptorium |
Author has written 13 stories for Greek Mythology, Phantom of the Opera, Thoroughbred, Moulin Rouge, Battlestar Galactica: 2003, Lost, Harry Potter, Les Miserables, and Misc. Movies. Name: Nienna. I have written under mask_and_mirror on LiveJournal, so some of the work archived here has already been posted in other comms and archives. At one time I also wrote under the name Nienna on the Thoroughbred series message board. Age: Recently graduated college student. Gender: Female. Just one of the 98 percent majority on FF.net. A Few of My Eclectic Favorites- Books: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Anything by Jane Austen, Philippa Gregory, F. Scott Fitzgerald Movies: Moulin Rouge, Lord of the Rings, Shakespeare in Love, Braveheart, Emma, Gone With the Wind, Wuthering Heights, Sin City, Gladiator Musicals: Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Jekyll & Hyde, Miss Saigon… and I have proclaimed myself the last Andrew Lloyd Webber fan in America thanks to all the recent bashing, so… I like most of his work, too. Fandoms (In Order from most work to least work)- Les Miserables: I’ve written the most work for this, and it’s the one I’ve written fairly consistently for a while in. Slowly, I’ll probably post more and more of the stuff that I’ve written that has never before seen the light of day. Quick bio of my obsession: saw the musical (also my first play I'd ever seen) in 4th grade and decided I wanted to be Jean Valjean when I grew up, read the complete unabridged novel the summer before sophomore year and decided that any book longer than 1000 pages was definitely worth looking-at from now on, began writing fanfic that very summer and decided for some reason that Marius/Eponine was the way to go, present day I try to reread most of the novel every summer as a sort of anniversary thing for Barricade Day (June 5th/6th!) and have thankfully broadened my tastes in fics and pairings. I love Les Miz, and it will never die. Thoroughbred series: I actually wrote half a novel in Alternate Universe for Samantha under the name Nienna on the Thoroughbred message board, and I do hope to finish it one day, but for now it has sadly died. I must confess it was turning into something of a Mary Sue, to the point where it was bothering me, so perhaps it calls for a complete rewrite. But I also wrote a couple one-shots that I may repost here eventually. I love this fandom; it was my first place where I realized I was part of a fandom, and it’s nice and tight-knit, and the writers are frequently better than the real authors, so I can’t say enough about it. Battlestar Galactica, 2003: My new favorite. This is the first show that I've bought on DVD, and I'm not typically a SciFi fan, so I think that says something. I like the plotline, of course, but for the real draw is the amazing character development and political intrigue that are a major focus of the show. I think that BSG has the best female heroines I've seen in a long time, and you really can't beat some of the out-there existential questions it poses (What does it mean to be Human or a Machine?). I faithfully ship Starbuck/Apollo with all my heart, although I have been known to appreciate Sharon/Helo and even Starbuck/Anders. I have written in Phantom, Greek Mythology/Troy movie, Lost, Harry Potter, and others, so if I write more in any, I will post those up here, too. Official Author's Notice- THANK YOU to all reviewers- readers are what make writing. I love and appreciate each review I get, and humbly ask for more, and concrit is much appreciated! Story Update 3/4/09: What do you know, I essentially leave fandom for a year, and now I don't do anything else! Such is the life of a student. Check out my new Thoroughbred crack!fic, "Small Crimes." 2/24/09: I haven't updated in about a year and a half, but here you go: "Set the Fire to the Third Bar," because the finale of BSG is just that amazing. The title, of course, comes from a Snow Patrol song, which I listened to obsessively during the writing of this one-shot. | |||||||
