UPDATES!
3/28/06 - I know, I know, I suck. Very, verybad things have been happening in these past couple months, and I've got a lot to sort out before I can continue to write Taint; it's meant to be a dark story, and I can't handle that kind of writing right now. I might try to do something with the Portkey Mishap, which is a lot lighter, but things have just been not good, so we'll see. Sorryto those of you who were really enjoying the story--I hate putting something on hold like this. I do not want to leave it unfinished, and absolutely do not intend to; it's just going to be a while until the ball starts rolling again.
On reviews:
New (fanfic) author, first story. If you took the time to read, please take the time to review. A word or two will do. I'd be pleased even with a few. I'd be happier still with more--say perhaps a score? Whatever you might say, be it aye or be it nay, I'll use it to improve. You know you want me to. Feedback is great--did you like or did you hate? Did you love or did you loathe? Constructive criticism is my goal!
Okay, now you have to review, because that was pretty cool right there.
On my stories:
Taint (DG): (In progress, on hold)
Ginny had been tainted those many years ago, and she knew all too well that once touched by darkness, it never leaves. There was no cure for it, and in a world of black and white, evil and good, Voldemort and Harry Potter, she was given an ultimatum: a constant, devastating battle or a complete, destructive surrender. Either path would crush her. Torn, she finds a world of molten silver and icy grey, a world of the shades in between, and so she chose neither.
But then the visions came, and with Voldemort’s wave of power beginning to wash over the wizarding world, Ginny knew that she could no longer remain passive. She would have to make a choice, a choice that could determine the very fate of the wizarding world. It doesn’t help that those who should be desperately supporting her have turned against her, and the one person who should loathe her above all is the only one who is willing to help.
Note: This story is sort of AU. Ginny's character is much different, and I'm picking and choosing events from the books. (1-5 remain fairly unchanged with major events; it's mostly HPB that I'm butchering up to suit my needs.)
The Portkey Mishap: (In progress, nothing posted yet)
Enter Ginny: Europe's foremost up-and-coming dragonologist. She positively adores her job, but her friends think she loves it a little too much . . . perhaps beyond what's healthy.
Enter Draco: the owner and founder of Quicksilver, the most successful quidditch line in the world, and Sinful, a blooming, sophisticated gourmet candy line that rivals Honeyduke's when it comes to chocolate. He's the most sought-after bachelor in all of Great Britain, but cares more for his quaffles and confections than entering a relationship.
Enter Magic Carpet Cruise and Vacations: a new and struggling travel agency, they attempt to boost publicity by putting on a sweepstakes that, for four lucky winners, will mean an all-expenses paid vacation ot Aurora Isle, a hidden wizarding island in the Caribbean.
Ginny and Draco, to their horror, are two of the winners. A Malfoy and a Weasley? Going to the same island for vacation? Outrageous! But it appears that there's no getting out of it, even when both contrive to miss the send-off. Things go from bad to worse when their hastily-constructed porkey malfunctions and they end up in a large cabin in the middle of . . . Russia? During a blizzard, no less. Apparently, they've been dropped into Ivan the Curse-Breaker's mythical home, which no wizard has been able to find since his death eighty years ago. But England is just an Apparation away, right? Wrong. Curse-breakers as grumpy and ruthless as Ivan make no few enemies during their lifetimes, and it turns out there's an Apparation shield around the cabin. Just when they think things couldn't possibly get any worse, they discover that not only have they been trapped in the cabin by several tons of snow and ice, but that the closest apparation point is sixty-seven miles away!
