Hello! My name is Piccolo Sky. I'm a Christian, and an Anime, movie, and fantasy fan. I'm working on a fantasy series right now, but I also have some fanfiction that I've posted. I hope you enjoy it and don't find it too bloody or boring :(

As a fanfiction writer, I find a very helpful tool is to have some music playing while I'm writing. I can do pretty well with a bit of DDR, Daft Punk, or my Encounter CD (put out by DC Talk, same guys who put out "Jesus Freaks"). However, I try often to match up my song with the mood of what I'm writing. If the song can put me in the mood of the setting or the characters, it often works as a sort of "score" for me. And for this, nothing beats some Nobuo (as in Nobuo Uetmatsu). Although I have a list of favorite songs of all time from him, which include "Burmecia: Realm of Eternal Rain" from Final Fantasy IX and "Scene I" from Final Fantasy, I only have so many on CD. So, for those of you who came all this way to read my profile, here are my favs, and hopefully they'll help you out if you decide to get them. But purchase them! "Downloading music is illegal! Musicians need that income to survive!" Etc. (for those of you who saw the Futurama episode)

First of all, some runners up are "Home Sweet Home" from Final Fantasy V, "Aria Di Mezzo Carattere" from Final Fantasy VI, and "Aerith's Theme" from Final Fantasy VII. Specifically, I can tell you that I use "Aerith's Theme" for writing sad parts in my stories. I'm fond of the Celtic-like overtune to "Home Sweet Home" as well. But "Aria Di Mezzo Carattere", at least the version I have on CD with a real vocalist, is too formal for me to use in love scenes, though I do like it. Anyway, here is the top ten.

10. "The Breeze" from Final Fantasy III

Specifically, I like the version with lyrics. Calm, with a sort of melancholy happiness... It makes it good for love scenes or travelling. I'm not sure where it fits in Final Fantasy III, as that is the only one I haven't played yet, but I'm sure it will be good to see it in action.

9. "Scene III" from Final Fantasy

If you've played any Final Fantasy (with the possible exceptions of X and X-2), you know this song. It is played at some point in each of those games. You can think of it as the main theme to Final Fantasy period. You may think it's boring or repetitive, but orchestrated it sounds good. Another thing you might not know is that "Matoya's Cave" and the town music from that same game, along with this, form one great sounding single song. This is a great all-purpose song for me...except maybe exciting scenes.

8. "Liberi Fatali" from Final Fantasy VIII

A lovely dramatic song that provides great fight music or major plot point music. This song would be higher on my list if it weren't for a few personal beefs I have with the song. One is that it is only about two and half minutes. I have to play it on a loop to have it last through writing any scene. Two is that, unlike "A One Winged Angel", the lyrics to this song are anagrams, and mean nothing in a different language. Three is that, in my humble opinion, this is the best song in Final Fantasy VIII (far, far superior to "Maybe I'm A Lion"), yet it came at the beginning. I consider it, to me personally (since I dislike FFVIII) to be a metaphor for the game itself. Makes you expect a lot...but delivers little in the end.

7. "Battle on the Big Bridge" from Final Fantasy V

On its own, this song isn't terribly exciting. However, I love the remix done by the Black Mages. It gets me really excited, and it provides good generic battle music. Bad thing is, some times I focus too much on the song and forget to write... :(

6. "J-E-N-O-V-A" from Final Fantasy VII

Another great battle song. I think I played FFVII the third time just to hear this (well, and "A One Winged Angel"). The Black Mages remix is essentially just a much longer version of the basic song, so I find that very helpful (the original song was only a couple minutes, making it hard to listen to and write without looping). I love how its exciting, but sort of bizzare sounding. I think the Square Wave on my keyboard is the closest sound I can get to it. Currently, I'm trying to master an extremely difficult piano sheet music that has this song on it, and I'm failing miserably...

5. "The Skies Above (or Zanarkand)" from Final Fantasy X

Some of you who read this may feel the need to tell me that the first song in FFX is called "Zanarkand", not "The Skies Above". (You'd be wrong, BTW. Tidus' opening lines are the first track on the soundtrack. So :P) I got "The Skies Above" from the Black Mages II disk, where they call this song that. However, I'm not sure if they're naming the song itself that...or the lyricized version that they present on the song (which is sung by a horrendously bad singer by the way...who nevertheless has made me addicted to his alley cat-like voice...). Whatever it is, I like it. Great sad part music. I also can play this on the piano, which I like very much.

4. "Battle with the Four Fiends" from Final Fantasy IV

I still remember first seeing Milon Z (or Scarmilonge Z for you non-Old Schoolers :P) attack me from behind to the sound of this melody, and thinking... "He is going to kick my a..." Well...actually it wasn't me. I was watching a friend play it the first time. And he died fairly easily (wimp only knows how to poison you and cast Lit1)... Hearing a rock version of this song only intensified my like of it. Great battle music again, signifying how much gnarlier the FFIV Four Fiends are than the FF Four Fiends (Puny Kary going down after a Haste-d Icebrand wails on her twice...whereas Rubicant's cloak of flame laughs at your insignificant attempts to use Shiva on him).

3. "Scene VI" from Final Fantasy II

Important to note is that I only feel this way about the orchestrated version. The version in FFII itself is mild and rather lame. To this day, I still wonder how some random evil guy who appears to just be some man who wants to rule the world somehow ends up being able to crawl his way back out of Hell, becomes its king, and then tries to unleash Hell on earth. However, of the coolness of this song in orchestra I have no doubt. It comes off as some sort of "Lawrence of Arabia" theme with how grand and epic is sounds. I seriously believe that you could put this song in on the end of "Attack of the Clones", and it would be every bit the epic closing music that John Williams scored.

2. "Battle with Seymour" from Final Fantasy X

The truth is, there are very few songs from FFX that I actually like...but those that I do like, I really like. This is one. You may think this sounds lame, but I have a hard time not rocking out to the Black Mage version of this song so I can write. I always crank it up. Whereas the battle with Braska's Final Summoning subjected you to what sounds like a rejected Korn track, the fight with Seymour once again has a sort of unconventional coolness to it like "J-E-N-O-V-A". I liked this song so much, that I changed the final battle between Bahamut and Wyvern to match this music better in one of my fanfics. Seymour himself is a horribly, horribly obnoxious character, but he does tend to beat the living crud out of you when you fight him. So it's not so bad losing to him if you get to hear this ditty again...

1. "A One Winged Angel" from Final Fantasy VII

This is a list of my favorite FF music...so anyone who is familiar with Final Fantasy and didn't expect this to be anywhere on the top ten list...shame on you. I'm sure someone is going to prove me wrong the moment I say this...but I defy anyone to have a list of their top ten FF songs with this not anywhere on it. It sounds like the heavens are breaking open right when the song even starts, before it gets into a series of great and powerful movements with lyrics in Latin. Latin, of all things! This, of course, further emphasizes the Christian metaphors that are throughout Final Fantasy VII (if any of you think I'm biased in thinking this because I am myself a Christian, I could probably point out no less then ten to you off the top of my head). Naturally, I save this bad boy for epic battles only. One thing you might not expect is that I actually don't like the orchestrated version of this song (which was the version in "FFVII: Advent Children") compared to the game version. The game version, in my opinion, was far more poignant and violent. The orchestrated version is almost too soft to me.

John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
