Harry Potter and the Burden of Becoming (Book 6)

The story Harry Potter and the Burden of Becoming started as collaborative effort between me and my son. We were trying to craft alternative endings to the "end of Voldemort" on a small fanfic website (five-hundred words or less). Now at a third of a million words, the story has grown considerably! I've tried to structure the story to help discuss many of the issues facing all of us as we each become. In it you'll find discussions of sex, drugs, rock-and-roll, drinking, learning to drive, peer pressure, suicide, death, and perhaps a more blatant elaboration on JKR's prominent themes of racism and inclusion. In BoB you'll find that bad guys can change, and sometimes even the good guys find it hard to be good.

I've tried to do this while keeping the story within the canon, consistent through JKR's fifth year at Hogwarts. Hopefully, there's enough mystery that the story's intriguing, and not so much it becomes confused.

Harry Potter and the birth of a New Sun (Book 7)

It's September 2009 and 55 Chapters of the sequel to BoB are on line (consistent with canon to OoP). It's the seventh year and the battle between Centaur and Dementor looms over Hogwarts like an acrid smoke, choking all who breathe. In the midst of war, Harry grows up, discovering how to live and how to die. When the actions of a blonde-haired boy threaten to tip the balance of power, Harry will find his fate and the fate of the wizarding world lies in the Birth of a New Sun and the love of a beautiful black-haired girl.

This story has more in the way of action and battles and centres on what happens when one wizard (Harry) becomes so powerful he can do pretty much whatever he desires. They say absolute power corupts. Will it corupt Harry, or can he find the true meaning of love in this battle weary world of ours?
