Mostly, I'm a character girl. If I love a character, I'll watch/read them in almost any format. And that's how I fell in love with cartoons. They can have some pretty amazing characters.
Yu-gi-oh!: I got into Yu-gi-oh! because my kids started watching it and I fell in love with the characters and the friendship themes. I confess that I have a fondness for the dub because that's how I found the series and the bulk of my stories fall in dub continuity (with some of the Japanese anime and the English manga mixed in where it suits me). Most of my stories use the English names as well. I was very disappointed in how the dub ended the series, however, making dramatic cuts in the final episode that, IMO, sucked all of the emotion out of it. So as far as the Ceremonial Battle goes, I'm with the original Japanese version all the way.
Danny Phantom: Got to turn the tables on my kids with this one, because I found it first and hooked them! HA! Danny just really intrigued me from the very first episode I saw. I think it's probably because his character borrows a lot from Spider-Man/Peter Parker, which is my very favorite classic superhero. And again, I love the friendships. Danny, Tucker, and Sam are such a great bunch. And the supporting characters, too: Jazz, Valerie, Jack & Maddie. Even Mr. Lancer. I have a very soft spot for that man. :)
I also have a Live Journal mostly for ranting about writing or characters or whatnot, but some random other stuff, too.
How I Post Multi-Chapter Stories
I always get comments in reviews about how quickly I update a new story, so I figured I should probably explain the way I work when it comes to long stories. I don't ever post works in progress or incomplete stories. I am constantly revising early chapters as I write later ones, to the point that it would be almost worthless for anyone to read chapter one before I've finished writing the whole thing, because it will probably be completely different when I'm done. If I post a chapter of a new story, then that means the story is finished. At most, I might be waiting for some beta comments on later chapters, but I will rarely, if ever, go more than a few days between updates, and often will update 5-10 chapters a day and get a whole story up within a week. So it'll be a long time between new stories getting posted, but when a new one does go up, it will definitely be completed and probably fully posted very quickly.
Currently...
I tend to be a sort of serial monogamist when it comes to fandoms, so right now I'm only writing Danny Phantom stories, and that will last until I run out of idea and/or a new fandom gets its hooks into me. :)
I'm currently working on a novel-length story that takes place after Infinite Potential, but isn't really a sequel. It's a bit like Tales from the Phantom Planet or Big Brother in format, meaning each chapter is something of its own one-shot, but this one is different, too, because the chapters aren't entirely stand-alone, and aren't arranged entirely chronologically, but thematically. It's a bit of a departure for me, but I'm having a lot of fun writing it. Depending how much I get done before summer, I'm hoping to have it finished/posted in the fall.
Yu-gi-oh! Links
These are my favorite sites for episode guides, character bios, etc. I relied on the first two a lot in writing Revival. The last one is where I found the Japanese finale.
Yu-Jyo: Absolutely brilliant site that summarises the American dubbed episodes and compares them to the Japanese.
Janime: Another brilliant site for Japanese summaries and character decks. Couldn't have written the battle scenes without it.
Yugiohfans.co.uk: They have all the dub episodes online, and most importantly, the Japanese version (subtitled) of the Ceremonial Battle and the finale. Check it out if you don't have access to the Japanese episodes because you HAVE to see how it originally ended. Seriously.
Danny Phantom Links
AmityPark.net: News, screencaps, character guides. A really neat little site.
