Me: Graduate student in creative writing. 23 years old. Owned by a
cat. A cranky loner who sleeps on Centaurian time (thirty hours
awake, fifteen hours asleep). I teach English 101 and 201 at Eastern
Washington University, which makes me very capable of making fun of
your spelling and grammar errors. I'm told that I look scary and that I
am, in general, intimidating. I don't mean to be: it must be the black
hair and piercings. Oh well.
Way
of Life: During the summer, I write fanfic (emphasis on lemony
goodness, but the dirtier stuff stays on my hard drive-- wow, look at
that pun) and work at Chevron or 7-11. During the school year, I write
my MFA thesis, go to class, teach classes, and generally lose my
mind.
Genres: Science fiction, fantasy, and realistic short stories.
Hobbies:
Writing, anime (Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion are my favorites), video games (Final Fantasy, platformers), BtVS, drawing,
astrology, Buddhism (when you're as bad a Buddhist as I am, it's not a
belief, it's a hobby). Drinking
(think Evangelion's Misato-- that's the life I lead pretty much all
down the line, minus the heavy responsibility and giant robots).
Music: Tom Waits and Modest Mouse these days.
Inspiration:
Give me sleep deprivation, five pots of coffee, and two packs of
cigarettes, and things just seem to happen..
Beloved
Animes: Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, Evangelion, Trigun, Fushigi Yuugi,
Rurouni Kenshin, Iria: Zeiram the Animation, Macross Plus, etc. etc. ad
nauseum. I've got quite a few thousand dollars sunk into my collection,
unfortunately. /slurps Ramen due to being broke/
FIC
UPDATES: "KARMA" started off as a series of vignettes exploring the
relationships between Spike, Faye and Jet after the end of the series.
It got a weak-sauce plot about halfway through, when Fic-Spike got the
bit in his teeth, and tightened up from there. It is complete.
"The Character Files" turned into "Hand Grenade," and is
complete. If I write any more short stories from the POVs of the
Bebop's crew, I'll post them as separate stories. As much as I enjoyed
delving into Spike's psychology, the other crew members were resisting
the hell out of me, and besides, I wanted to get back to SxF
goodness.
"Clockwork
Hearts," which is a really stupid title and I know that, is the sequel
to KARMA. I wanted to go more in-depth with Spike and Faye, build a
life for them and all that good stuff. But those two have issues. The
closing to KARMA leaves their future open, and I, being the Spaye lover
that I am, want to pin it all down nice and neat. So yes, "Clockwork"
is a big angst-ball, and will probably sprawl every bit as much as
KARMA, though I'm hoping I won't make the mistake of writing bounties
in there this time. (Ooops, I did. Well, it turned out all right, and it got Fic-Spike talking, so that's a good thing).
REVIEW POLICY: I try very, very hard not to review-whore on my
stories. Nonetheless, reviews make my cold little stony heart warm.
Also, when I screw up, I need to know, or odds-on I'll just keep on
merrily screwing up. ESPECIALLY when Fic-Spike does something. He does
that a lot.
