| The Singer in White |
Author has written 5 stories for Phantom of the Opera, X-Men: The Movie, Harry Potter, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Credit for icon goes to potterpuffs on livejournal. History behind my pen name? I don't sing. I just like Cirque du Soleil a little too much. : D You are officially looking at the works of a college student. (Yay) I have a habit of doing more researching and planning than writing. And I would like to say ON MAY 22nd I am sooooo sorry for not paying attention to updating my stuff earlier. I'm going to see if I can crank out the rest of The Jack Mary Sue Collection, post all of 'Why I Hate Them' (There are...I want to say there are going to be 4 chapters, but don't quote me on that. Chapter 2 is 32 pages long ON PAPER. No joke.) And I'm also going to try my hand at Narnia movie-verse (I have jumped on the Susan/Caspian ship and have no intentions on looking back). That being said, I think I'm going to work on trying to be more liberal on canon elements in the rest of my reviews... My WIP'S: The Immortals Part 1:The Exchange Students (Harry Potter w/a minor X-Men crossover, MWPP era) -Currently writing chapter eight The Immortals Part 2: The Oracle -Watch Marauders and co. get through the rest of their Seventh Year at Hogwarts. Be witness to numerous relationships, a very sticky love triangle, a glamorous New Year's Eve Bash in Greece, and a prophecy about...Lily? The Marauders think it is, but David and his friends are the only ones that really know the truth, and David's not telling. (Once again, minor X-Men crossover, slightly bigger than last) The Immortals Part 3: Shaky Bridge - Witches and Wizards went into complete hiding after the hunts of the 1690's. 287 years later, nobody told the members of the Order of the Phoenix and their friends how fragile the bridge between wizard and muggle truly was. (Harry Potter MWPP, 1979-1981, stronger X-Men crossover) The Prime Minister's Stepdaughter: Snapshots of Life (Harry Potter) -Oneshot Moments chronicling the life of the stepdaughter of Eugene Kilgaris, from birth and beyond. The Dark Side of the Moon -Xavier's back. Thousands of Mutants and humans alike are disappearing off of Cerebro's Radar, and no one knows why. (Harry Potter/ X-Men crossover) Origin -Ever wondered who created the Blackbird? Follow her progressional development from conception to first liftoff. (X-Men:The Movie trilogy/Harry Potter Crossover) This will tie in as a background supplement to "The Immortals" series, but the "liftoff" will take place a few years after "Shaky Bridge." Inspired by John Ottoman's "X2 Suite" from the X2 movie. Why I Hate Them (ficlet)(Harry Potter) -In a rare moment of compassion, Orion Black tells his rebellious eldest son why many purebloods of his generation loathe muggles. Or rather, why he personally hates them. Inspired by Harry Gregson-Williams's "The Blitz:1940," from the movie "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." -Typing chapter 2 Jack Sparrow and the Fountain of Youth I am a Female Captian (humor) -I'll be poking fun at Elizabeth's gurrl power and overall sueness of her character. -Yet to Be Titled Jack/OC. Takes place in 1808, in the middle of the Napoleonic Wars. Jack, of course, is Immortal. So is Gibbs and Anamaria. I dunno about Barbossa yet. He didnt seem too enthused at the idea of being "the last pirate" during his little talk w/ Sparrow in AWE about immortality. A set of parody songs making fun of all of the Jack/OC Sues. Most of the songs will be Disney songs. The Many Women of Captain Jack Sparrow -Ever wonder where the lovely piece of lace around Jack's wrist came from? (Will include my OC form the larger fic, it will show what happened after the story). -A story chronicling the relationship of Davy Jones and Calypso. I have a tendency to get on periodic Harry Potter kicks form time to time. : ) I read the books, and I tend to reread them from time to time for specific details and characterization. Here are some of the things I have a really big problem with in general (y'know, big issues that canon peeps in the HP fandom hit the roof over. And I have been accused as being one of them (grins sheepishly). They're not all of them, just the huge ones. -Pairings where Ron's love interest is not Hermoine -Parings where Hermoine's love interest is not Ron. - Any slash (EXCEPT for Dumbledore): I am rather stubborn. Read this: Sirius and Remus are not gay. Period. If anybody wants to argue with me on this, I have a pre-outlined debate ready and waiting for your pleasure (not really, I don't have that kind of time, but you get the point). However, Snape /Lucius artwork makes me giggle. -I'm okay with the Golden trio in the present day. When I first started reading the books, I always had the impression that Harry was around my age or so. Which meant that the last year would take place in...2006. 2006-2007. Needless to say, I was shocked when I learned that was not the case. But I've adjusted. I know I have to edit my Marauder's story (which has them in the early to mid 80's). I'm getting around to it. It will be done. As far as the type of OC's go, this is where I stand: -Repeat after me: Mary Sues are evil. Say it again. And again. And agai- you get the picture. Sues are the spawn of the devil. They make me want to gouge my eyes out with spoons and then spork the living daylights out of the person that wrote the crap. They are unrealistic little barbies and anorexic little idiots that violate Harry Potter canon in every way, shape and form. If I find one, I will review the sad excuse of a story and critcise it to no end if I think that it is redeemable. If not, I just won't leave a review. I leave harsh constructive criticism, not flames. Other things: -I don't like seeing Marauders being in present day society. Lily and James were killed October 31st, 1981. Sirius was carted off to Azkaban shortly after. They were 21-22 years old. To write stories about them, people should be wise enough to act accordingly using that info. Like I mentioned earlier, I will fix my canon error in "The Immortals" story. It will be done. -All electronic devices do not work in Hogwarts. I don't care how cool it is to text message your buddies in classes, or that ipods are, "da bomb!1!11." Including theses things are a blatant disrespect of canon. -HOGWARTS HAS UNIFORMS. They dress conservatively on the weekends. Ignoring this is the quickest way to get me irritated. Ignoring it after I tell you so in a review is the quickest way for me to disrespect you and your writing. I don't flame. I just correct people in hope that they will become better writers. Nobody is perfect. Myself included. -I despise OOC's of any sort. There is a fine line between interpretation and complete canon raping. I don't see Hermoine listening to My Chemical Romance or Evanescence. Nor is she "gothik," punk, or emo. None of them are. Ginny is not a slut. Yeah, she dates a crapload of boys. She's a teenager. Teenagers typically go through relationships as quickly as one changes their socks. The Marauders as a whole were cool, calm and collected . Particuarly Sirius. They were all incredibly clever in some way or another. Don't demean them. - You can irritate me quickly by ignoring the fact that Hogwarts wore uniforms. You can also irritate me by constantly describing clothes characters are wearing down to a T. Then there's when I read this in author's notes and in their profile; "I don't include Peter. I hate him. He's not a marauder." YES HE WAS. HE WAS THEIR FRIEND. Remus would not have told Peter of his lycnathropy if he didn't trust him as a friend. Sirius and James wouldn't have included Peter in researching how to become an animagi if they didn't trust him as a friend. None of them would have made them part of their pranks of they didn't trust him as a friend. More importantly, Sirius would not have switched his job as Lily and James's secret keeper with Peter if he didn't trust him as a friend. Don't make Peter bumbling and stupid either. That's another thing that pisses me off. Yeah, I agree that he probably was a nervous kid. I won't be suprised if he didn't get the best grades either. But he must have been clever to at least some degree. I mean, he became an animagi when he was in his fifth year! That takes brains! He was a rat as well. All of the official HP info (which means that it all came from Rowling herself during the existence of this franchise), says that a person's animagi form typically represents a person's personality. According to the Chinese Zodiac, the rat person has the personality of being clever, resourceful, and very, very sneaky. It is possible that Peter did hero-worship James, given what little we do know about him as a kid. That could be one of his major faults. Possibly even one of his downfalls. - James was not stupid. He was an incredibly brilliant young man, as well as ridicuously talented at Quidditch. Don't make him stupid. -While Remus was more serious and studious and the others, please don't label him as a bookworm that never participated in the pranks. He sure as hell did. He was just incredibly sneaky about it. -Sirius was not stupid. He was an incredibly brilliant young man, as well as incredibly loyal to his friends. They were the family he never had. I mean literally too. From what Rowling has given us about Sirius, we know that he came from a filthy rich purebred home. It was also an incredibly broken home for Sirius. I think that his past is the basic reason for the theory that he is a complete ladies man. It's the attention he gets from it. The feeling that he is always loved and admired by all. It makes sense in my eyes. At the same time, he was a carefree soul. I see him being very commitment-phobic with girls while he was a schoolboy. He was loyal to his friends. Yeah, I know I said that before. It's true though. As of late 07 and into 08, my attentions have been placed to the next generation. Surprisingly enough, I've been pretty flexible. (This can be placed on my stubborness that Lily should look like her paternal grandmother and James should look like his paternal grandfather. Although Rowling did say in DH that Albus was the only one that inherited Lily's eyes, soooooo...And I've also placed George with an original character of my own, and it's sure as hell going to stay that way.) I have also become a staunch shipper of Rose/Scorpius. That's such a great pairing. Ron would hit the roof! I am a history nut. Historical accuracy is the quickest way for me to give out warm fuzzies, cookies, and cupcakes. The term spork is courtesy of pottersues. Her tireless crusade to rat out all Potter!Sues and all OOCness out of the fandom should get Order of Merlin, First Class. Her stuff is on livejournal. Oh, if I only had an account. Then I could be a real minion. As far as the X-Men are concerned: -I was a reader of the "Destiny's Diaries" comics of the X-Men franchise before I really got into the movies. A lot of elements of the comics tend to seep into any movie fics I have planned in my notebook. Keeping that in mind; -I know who Psylocke, Sage, Bishop, and Emma Frost are. Given I know who Sage and Emma are, I know a little bit about the Hellfire Club. - I was not amused with movie Callisto. Comic Callisto is an adult, and has a eye patch. While was is an enemy of the X-Men in the comics, she does not wear Dominatrix gear. -I was not amused with what the third movie turned Psylocke into. Psylocke does not have the powers to be invisible. Nor was she ever part of some crummy underground group of mutants. Psylocke was cool. Psylocke had class. -I hate the movie Rogue with a passion. There are not enough words to describe my loathing for the movie Rogue. The first movie, ok, I get it. It was when her powers first surfaced. And The Cure? Believable. But the rest of it? Ugh - I think Jean/ Logan kicks ass. The Scott/Jean/Logan triangle simply kicks ass. -I do not like gay pairings in this fandom at all, unless they are in good fun. (Parodies and such). Then I tend to find Logan/Scott and Bobby/John incredibly amusing. -I loathe Logan/Rogue. The relationship they have is a father daughter bond ONLY. Logan has a tendency of doing that with the younger female members of the X-Men franchise. (Creating father/daughter bonds). He loves Jean and only Jean. -Keeping that in mind, I don't like most Logan/OC fics. If you want Logan to move on, try Storm, and make it a painstakingly slow process. They actually did get together in the comics. -Rogue's only long-term relationship she will ever have is with a devastatingly handsome cajun named Remy Lebeau, aka Gambit. They belong together. -I am livid at Fox for not including Gambit. There are other men out there that can play the part other than Josh Holloway! - I loathe Sues of any kind in this fandom. Particuarly the ones that dub themselves as, "the next Jean Grey." There is only one Jean. She is and always will be the only one that has the all-encompassing power of the Phoenix. There is no other. I'm sure that the Phoenix will happily suck the light out of those that say otherwise and turn them to dust. On Dumbledore... To be honest, I wasn't very surprised. He's so...I dunno, enigmatic. Ian McKellenish. In a good way of course. Rainbow stickers for Dumbledore! | |||||||
