To all those that make a big to-do about fanfiction: Stop taking it so seriously! Fanfiction is supposed to be done as a hobby and not a lifestyle. I used to live for writing the 'perfect' fanfic, but here's the thing: no one is perfect; it's just an illusion. The only time that fanfiction--or any subject, for that matter--is either badly written (grammar-wise...I mean, it has to be at least legible!) and just plain mean-spirited (like the hatespeech-loaded 'Face the Strange,' the latter of which infuriated me!). Only then is it kind of a big deal. Other than that, just enjoy what you write.
