Well, it being nearly Christmas and a brand new year, I think it's just about time for a new Bio. I've had the old one for a nice long time, and now I think a fresh start is in order.
So, here goes.
Name: Amitai - I'm afraid I'd have to a lot drunker than I am to hand out my real name. But I think 'Amitai' is a rather nice name - even if it is a boy's name, when I'm, y'know - not a boy. It's Hebrew in origin (which, again, I'm not), if anyone's interested, and it means truth. According to Google, the most famous 'Amitai' is Amitai Etzioni, who founded the communitarian movement. You learn something new every day...
Age: 18! Score! I finally made it to adulthood!! ...Now I just have to work on acting like an adult, and not feel like an overwhelmed twelve year old. (shrugs) It'll come.
Family: Parents, grandmother, brother - a nice nuclear family. We're most of us mad, except my mother, who is the sanest of all of us, but does a very good impression of 'mad'. My big brother is a jazz musician, my mother is a journalist, and my father - well... we're none of us quite sure what it is he does. He has a long explanation of what his job is, but it's so unbelievably complicated, and my brother and I think he's a spy for the KGB. Obviously.
Hobbies: Well - I'm a black belt in Tae Kwon Do - finally - and I play various musical instruments, and I sing. A lot. My brother says that living with me is like having tinnitus - constant ringing in his ears. I love reading, which is just as well, because I'm applying to read English Literature at various different universities, and I enjoy writing as well, though I tend to steer clear of writing anything original, after a rather nasty attempt at writing my own fantasy novel, which - as most fourteen-year-old's attempts at writing fantasy novels do - went drastically wrong, and makes me wince every time I read it. I keep it around, though - as a kind of cautionary tale. Whenever I'm feeling particularly low, I bring it out and giggle at it.
Fandoms: I read in several hundred thousand different fandoms - C.S. Lewis, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Smallville, Supernatural, The West Wing, Hustle, The OC, One Tree Hill... loads. I only write in a few though, mainly Alex Rider.
The Alex Rider fandom is one of my pet bugbears - I know I mentioned it in my last bio, but I'll bring it up here. There are a few, intrepid authors who are attempting to drag the fandom out of the grip of the Mary Sues, who have a nice tight strangle-hold on it at the moment - I'm thinking of authors like Von, Steph Malfoy and Neptunian Diamond, among others - but all too often, the stories are blatant Mary Sues, no matter how much the author might protest to the contrary. This is a brilliant fandom - nothing is cliche yet, because nothing has had a chance to become cliche yet, and there's so much which could be done. I can think of half a dozen ideas which don't involve girl partners or girlfriends in any way, shape, or form, just off the top of my head, so if I can do it, other people MUST be able to.
I admit, I only started writing in this fandom because I wanted to read a story about Wolf, and there weren't any, so I wrote some myself. Now he's one of my favourite characters - along with Eagle and Alex himself - and he seems to work his way into most of my stories... (guilty grin)
I've recently put a lot of my stories on hiatus, simply because I don't want people waiting for updates on them which aren't going to come. As I'm sure everyone can see and appreciate, I have a lot of AR stories on the go - if I'd been thinking, I would simply have posted on story at a time, and waited to finish that before starting on a new one, but I didn't. So, I'm going to concentrate on about four or five of my stories, and as I finish one of them off, I'll take one of my 'lesser' stories off hiatus.
In the next couple of days, I'm hoping to post two new stories, and then that will be it until I've finished off several of my old ones. The problem with this plan is, none of them have really specific ends - Hell Is Other People has one, as do a couple of others, but In Loco Parentis certainly doesn't, and 'Talents' (my Harry Potter/Alex Rider crossover) isn't going to end for several years at least... (shrugs) I'll work it through somehow, I'm sure.
Anyway - I'll end this here, just to keep it short. There's really no point me talking about my stories, because all the important information about them is
Just
Down...
HERE. Enjoy!
