Story motivation: You know, in college, you meet a lot of interesting people (Well, I suppose that you meet interesting people everywhere, but I'm going on personal experience). One of roommates/friends got me into Stargate SG-1, regardless of the fact that I would always flat out refuse to watch any sci-fi before. I started watching a little more sci-fi, including Stargate Atlantis and The X-Files. She also got me into a few law/crime shows. So, I started writing stories (inspired by the same friend again). For some reason, I see the potential for crossovers everywhere. So far, my most promising crossovers are the SG-1/ X-Files crossover (Revelations, which I haven't given up on, I promise!) and a new one, which is a crossover between SG-1 and Numb3rs. There are a couple more that are on hiatus at the moment.
I also really like one-shots. They're fun to write and easy to deal with. Most of my stories, as you can probably tell from the story list below, are Stargate SG-1 stories. I've seen every episode, many of them more than once, and so I'm always thinking of new things to write. Currently, I'm working on a couple of different one-shots, one of which is also an SG-1/X-Files crossover, involving Carter, Mulder, and a very interesting date aboard Thor's ship.
I really enjoy writing. I like staying in line with what we see on the show, even if some of my stories seemingly don't fit. What I mean to say is that I don't typically write AU stories. I'd like to think of some of them (such as the Sam and Jack stories) as what's happening off-screen. So, I hope you enjoy reading the stories as much as I enjoy writing them!
My favorite TV character is probably Sam Carter. She's such a strong woman, and you don't see that too often, especially in a military setting. I get annoyed when authors belittle her experiences as an Air Force officer and as a scientist, two environments that cannot be easy for her to be in. And come on, she's only human... she's an amazing person, but she's entitled to her mistakes (coughPetecough... actually, you know, Pete wasn't a mistake. She had truly convinced herself, at least for a while, that she was not in love with Jack, but rather, in love with the thought that she would not have to find someone else... she came around). She should be respected for who she is (and I do think a lot of authors portray her really well).
So, as you have probably been able to gleen from my story list (and the comment above), I'm a Sam and Jack shipper. I tend to set my stories in Season 9 because that was the season where Sam and Jack may have actually had a chance to get together. I definitely miss Jack in the series, so it's fun to play with his character and what he might be up to that we don't actually see.
Oh, by the way, that friend I mentioned... HopeWheeler. She's a wonderful author! Check out her stories. There's a link in my "Favorite Authors" page. She has really great stuff!
