November 26, 2009: I did it. I DID IT! I won NaNoWriMo this year...and I'm still going strong! This morning I clocked in at almost fifty-eight thousand words. I'm going to surpass sixty thousand words, I just know it. Phew. I need a vacation! More updates to come.

ABOUT ME:

Hey. I'm Kissy, and thanks for stopping by. Have a cookie. Go on, they're not poisoned today...that is, I don't think they're poisoned today...

I am a semi-professional author (hoping to be full-time very, very soon...keep your fingers crossed), and I use fanfiction to hone my skills and connect with fellow anime/game/yaoi/shonen-ai writers and lovers.

I write with a dark bent, or to put it plainly, I write words that hurt. This may be an issue with people who are looking for a happy ending, but life sucks that way. I'm a grown-up, and have grown-up issues that make their way into my tales. Not every tale has a happy ending.

I am a voice in the struggle to bring awareness to the masses about autism. Chances are very good you know someone who is afflicted with some form of autism. Open your mind, do your homework about its many facets, and spread the knowledge.

I am a tree-hugging granola eater, with a Buddhist bent. I am Pagan, and proud of it!

I am a member of the Flame Union. If you received constructive criticism from me, rest assured you deserved it. Own up, suck it in, and revise your piece of crap before you revenge-flame me. My con-crit is sweet and gentle compared to my flames--and I report abuse when necessary. Fair warning.

LIKES AND DISLIKES:

I am a gamer chick. 'Nuff said. I am a Final Fantasy nut--more specifically Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 12. I'm also a huge fan of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Best game of all time? Earthbound (or Mother, as it was called in good ol' Japan). Honest Injun. Look it up. The game is a classic. Okami is one of my contemporary favorites. Gods, I love that game. It took me FOREVER to find it for the PS2, so I'm going to guard it like it was one of my children.

I love all kinds of anime. Give me anime, and I am happy. My tastes run the gamut from Dragonball, to Inuyasha, to Neon Genesis Evangelion, to Akira. I'm easy like Sunday morning when it comes to anime.

I listen mostly to classical music, because it really helps when I have a block of some sort. Basically I'll listen to almost anything, as long as I don't have to strain to understand it.

I don't watch TV unless it's cartoons. 'Struth! They keep you young. Same with video games. Not only do they keep you young, they improve brain function and hand-eye coordination...so if your folks yell at you to turn off the console, throw scientific evidence at them! : )

If I'm in the mood to rot my brain for an hour, I'll watch CSI, NCIS, or House. Is it me, or is every single fuckin' episode of House the same? Someone pukes up a copious amount of blood...House and his band of nimrods get the poor bastard...they have no frocking idea what's wrong with the patient...they kill him, sometimes twice...House has a flash of insight as to what the hell's wrong with the patient, and said flash happens due to something completely unrelated to the patient's issues...the patient gets better. Oh, and don't forget the sexual tension. Without that, House could be called 'The Nearly-Dead Patient of the Week'. Sheesh. Hugh Laurie is lucky I'm such a fan of The Young Ones and Blackadder, otherwise I wouldn't have given a crap about House when it first aired.

I am an omnivorous reader. I devour anything that has an engaging story. Stephen King has been a long-time favorite of mine. I also love Douglas Adams, Diana Gabaldon, Michael Crichton, David Eddings (especially his Bhelliom tales), Anne McCaffery, Terry Brooks, and Wendy and Richard Pini (ah, long live Elfquest).

The Thirteen Commandments of Fanfiction

1. Thou shalt not write Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu stories. EVER.
2. Thou shalt not write self-inserts. Please see Commandment #1.
3. Thou shalt learn how to use spell check.
4. Thou shalt learn how to use proper grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
5. Thou shalt not write stories without the disclaimer, lest ye get sued.
6. Thou shalt not write stories using other FFNet authors' characters without their permission.
7. Thou shalt not write songfics, unless thou art Meat Loaf or Peter Frampton.
8. Thou shalt not write in chatspeak, even if thou hath written the fic from your cell-phone.
9. Thou shalt not write one word or one sentence chapters.
10. Thou shalt not write author's notes that are more than 1/3 the length of the chapter.
11. Thou shalt not write AU unless you label it as AU. (Alternate Universe, for those who are not in the know. Yeah, YOU.)
12. Thou shalt not change a character's personality from how its Glorious Creator intended it. If you DO change it, label it as as OOC.
13. Thou shalt read the book/play the game, before writing about it. ALL of it. And watching the movie/cutscenes doesn't count.

Ninety-five percent of the kids out there are unconcerned by the dismal state of their education, or the fact that their fanfiction is raping the English language. If you're part of the five percent of fanfiction writers/readers who do care about such things, cut and paste this, and then leave reviews for those poor souls who know not what they do.
