Found a site that could act as a potential litmus test for original characters. The typical problem with orginal characters is that they tend to be very similar to their creator, which isn't exactly for the best. Go here: http://www.outofservice.com/twins/. Create a profile for yourself (you have to fill out a personality survey) and then create another for your character, answering the survey from their point of view. The site will tell you how similar you and your "twin" are!
