Author has written 10 stories for Cats, Beauty and the Beast, Harry Potter, and Twilight.

Alright... the kind-of-new, mostly-copied-from-the-old-one, occasionally-randomly-updated, multi-hyphenated, Jellicle-in-the-box profile. yay!

My name(s) is/are... MayaBea, Maya Bea, Mayabea, MB, m'aya-bea or Emby (if you're Hannahannah), Maybe or Perhaps (with a slight chance of rain) (if you're Queen-of-Pi), sign-language-girl, Josie, hey-you... I'll answer to pretty much anything. Except Maya. (well, if you were to call "Maya!!" I'd probably react, but if you call me that to my face I get really angry).

Lately, Fanfiction has mostly dropped from my radar. Between my book club, my boyfriend, and a lot of theatre (not to mention Junior year and college hunting!), there's just too much else going on. I'll still post when I have inspiration, but all of my unfinished stories are currently on hiatus.

I'd like to take this opportunity, before I ramble on about stuff you don't care about (oops, too late...) to give a big thanks to my Beta, Queen-of-Pi, my "delta" Hannahannah and my friend who hasn't actually beta-ed anything for me (yet) but offered to anytime I need it, Nari-chan SND.

I absolutely love Shakespeare. I am determined to read all of his works before I graduate from college. Five years... ready, set go!

I also love The Princess Bride. I can quote the ENTIRE MOVIE by heart. When I'm bored, sometimes I play the movie either silently or in spanish, and just read the characters lips to remember the english... ok, I know I have an obsession problem... NOT MY FAULT... I watched it 15 times in two weeks... ok, maybe that is my fault... .:sigh:. enough rambling, on to the important info!

Now information that you might actually care about (Ok, maybe not, but here is where I actually relate to fanfiction.net):

My Fanfics:

~When in the Mirror I do Choose to Spy (Beauty and the Beast): A ficlet I wrote as a birthday present for my friend, Hannahannah. Happy birthday! This took me a while, because it's a sonnet, written in semi-Shakespearean English, and entirely in iambic pentameter.

~Another Weasley (Harry Potter): “Another Weasley?” The hat said those inevitable words. Percy let out a breath he didn’t even know he held. He knew what was coming next: “I know just what to do with you.” But instead, the hat’s next words caused a shiver to run up Percy’s spine. Just a very short ficlet I wrote while I ran away from the plot bunnies chasing me.

~Live for Me (Harry Potter): This little ficlet was a plot bunny that wouldn't leave me alone over a year ago, before the release of Deathly Hallows. It's a pre-final-battle story, but even I'm not sure who the characters are, or what they're talking about. The story just couldn't wait to be written, and was begging to be set free in the world (or internet).

~Empty Pages (Harry Potter): Dear Diary, I can speak to you and tell you everything I feel and everything I think but you will never, never write back. You stupid, useless pile of pages! You are empty. I once had a diary, and next to it, you are nothing. A Ginny/Tom fic I wrote, based on a plot bunny from Fictionalley's Gin N' Tonic thread. Review please!!

~Jellicle Cats Develop Slowly (CATS): Finished, complete, I'm through with it. Thanks to my reviewers for their constructive criticism, and I'll keep it in mind for future stories, but I'm not rewriting any of this one. I already handed it in to my Fiction Writing teacher, who turns out to be deathly afraid of CATS. Unfortuantely, I didn't know this until after I was too far into the story to chose a new topic. For anyone who may care, I did get an A grade for it anyway.

~Christmas Lights (CATS): Ok, I know I'm long overdue for an update... almost a whole year since I've last posted. I'm afraid to say I've drifted pretty far from the Cats fandom, and I'm not sure when I'll be back. If I do pop into the fandom to say hi or anything, I'll post... but until then this story is on Hiatus. Thanks anyone who has reviewed!

~We Love You, Mr. Draco (Harry Potter): Written for the Challenge with the same name. "Malfoy Manor is confiscated by the Ministry. With Lucius in jail, it falls to Draco to complete the services set to him in order to earn it back for his family. So, he goes to the Ministry to start his first day, only to find himself in a cheerfully-painted hellhole. Draco Malfoy has been put in charge of the Ministry Day-Care. But don’t worry. It’s just the 4-5 year olds." Actually, it's much more serious than it seems. I'm working on a few chapters ahead of what's posted, and when I finish a few more I'll start posting again.

~Drabbles at Twilight (Twilight): Drabbles are mini-fics with exactly 100 words each. They are much harder to write than you would expect. Included in this collection so far: Approval, Gravestones, Zombie, Heroin, Souls, Running, Arm Wrestling, Superhero, Proposal, Ear Wiggling, Fire and Ice, Greek God, Temptation, Gone, Betrayal, Night Time, Motives, Power, Questions and Answers, Remember, Halloween, Convenient, Delusions, The Wedding, Volterra, Blood, Love, Prankster, Surprise Party, Disgrace, 100 reviews prize! (written for tangledshadows), Waste, April Fools, Stupid Hormones, Battlefield, Witch, and Happiness, Torn, Coffee, Movie Night (not a drabble, but I still count it), Panic, New Room, Trouble, Change, Sacrifice, Thanksgiving: a collective work, Alone, Credit Cards, Wolf, Reflection. I know, a lot, right? Please read, review, and enjoy! Now that I've finished my 50 drabbles, I'm going to send the five best, as voted upon by reviewers (and some other factors, too; I have veto power for example), to Stephenie Meyer! I will post again after I've sent the letter to announce which Drabbles were chosen. Edit: as Twilight has become more and more popular with EVERYONE, it's becoming even more difficult to find a way to contact Stephenie Meyer. I've given up, unless someone presents me with her e-mail or mailing address.

~Movie Night (Twilight): a one-shot story about Bella, Edward, and Jacob all forced to sit together in one room while Bella tries to get the boys to watch The Princess Bride. But Jacob and Edward get ideas... Written at the request of Queen-of-Pi.

~Nari-chan SND's Birthday Trip (Harry Potter): a birthday present for my friend, Nari-chan SND. When Nari opens her birthday card from Jellicle-in-the-Box, she finds instructions to go to a certain story on fanfiction.net. But when she loads the page, she finds instead a button saying "To enter the Potterverse, press here." And so she does, sending her on a birthday journey she'll never forget!

The Jellicle-in-the-Box theory of Fanfiction Categorization

My cousin and I (who have a lot in common, such as being short (she's a little taller than me, we found out last thanksgiving), talking a lot, being crazy psycho people that others can't understand, and loving fanfiction) spent a good deal of time discussing how to categorize fanfictions. Here are the results:

Canon
Canon fanfiction includes anything that occured within the media (book, movie, etc.). This includes stories from another characters POV, or small parts that are expanded to a whole oneshot. The former is usally a full-length fic covering the entire media, or a oneshot of a single scene. The latter is almost always a oneshot.

Fanon
Fanon is a term used to describe something that's not actually canon, but is widely accepted in the fandom. A Fanon fic is anything that is entirely compatible with canon but didn't actually occur within the media. One example from Tamora Pierce would be something that happened in the time between The Circle of Magic series and The Circle Opens. An example from Harry Potter might be a story about a particularly busy day in the Burrow long before Ron and Harry ever met.

AU/Intervention
AU stands for Alternate Universe. Usually this refers to any fic that's not canon, but I've divided it further. The line between the two is very fine, but it's there. Feel free to talk to me if you don't get it, I'm not sure how well I'm explaining myself here:

AU
What I call AU is one of two things. The first is when the setting is changed entirely from the books. An example of this would be the story of Beauty and the Beast set in modern times. The other kind of AU is a what-if situation. What if Harry had been raised by Moony and Padfoot instead of the Dursleys? What if Hermione was in Ravenclaw? A what-if AU takes one defining "choice" and makes it occur another way, then tracing how that affects everything in the story.

Intervention
Intervention is similar to a what-if AU, but instead of a choice occurring differently, the author creates an element that intervenes with the canon course of events. This includes fics with Mary-Sues and Self-inserts as well as Crossovers, but is not limited to them. It would also include a perfectly authentic OC who somehow changes the events from happening the way they do in the original media.

Parody
I don't think I really need to explain this one. A parody is a joke. It can be a parody of badfics, a sue-basher, a parody of the writing style of the author, or a completely random stream of stupidity. Anything goes... that's what makes Parody so awesome!
