"All minds, Virgina, whether they be men's or children's are little. In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge." -New York Sun, 1897 [Formerly Ame Ulan] Yo. I'm in my 20s. Officially. It's a scary thought. Especially since I've been here since I was 14. And I'm going to be a real life Lois Lane. I like to think of myself as pretty laid back. The kind of person lounging on a couch with my arms stretched over my head, an open book across my stomach, and Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five playing away on the record player. I dig down time. I'm heavily into music. If my school offered it, I'd be a music minor. You name it, I love it. Classic rock, big band, jazz, doo wop, blues, folk, old school rap, country, metal, psychobilly, new wave, punk cabaret, rockabilly, motown, opera, baroque, romantic. I like to write. A lot. So, reading's a dead giveaway. I'm a big Anne Rice fan, Neil Gaiman, Oscar Wilde, V.C. Andrews, F. Scott Fitzgerarld, T.H. White, and the Bronte Sisters. I also kinda-really like The Mists of Avalon, anything and everything King Arthur, The Stranger, Shakespeare, Dracula, Frankenstein, and anything else well-written, well-told, and fascinating. I'm a real nerd. I attend Renaissance Faires every year. I can talk classic movies all day. Bogie and Bacall. Katharine of Arrogance and Cary Grant. I've actually embarrassed myself in correcting others about old horror films. Do not confuse Bela Lugosi's early works with his dying stands with Ed Wood. As bizzare and passionate as Ed Wood may have been, honestly, his movies were horrible. But Universal pictures were masterpieces. Star Wars is up there. Along side Jurassic Park, Mel Brooks pictures, The Princess Bride, John Hughes films, classic Disney movies, etc. I also really like comic books. I'm more of a DC fan. And I like cartoons. Oh, and I like theme parks. A lot. So. I've given you a glimpse into my personality, dry humor and all, so now, you make the decision: Am I cool yet? Whispering Bells is really the only story I'm focusing on right now. Between college and, quite frankly, my social life (who've thought I'd ever get one of those!), I don't have time to write very much fanfiction anymore. When I do have time to write, I savor those moments for personal, original works only. Plus, I've got my own Jimmy Olsen and want to spend all the time that I can with him. I've always loved the flirtatious tango of consonants and vowels, the sturdy dependability of nouns and capricious whimsy of verbs, the strutting pageantry of the adjective and the flitting evanescence of the adverb, all kept safe and orderly by those reliable little policemen, punctuation marks. Dennis Miller Please don't steal. I mean it. | |||||||
