Author has written 6 stories for CSI, and Newsies. The basics on me: I have a master's degree in writing and am currently pursuing a second master's in mass communication (overachiever? me? nah...) before starting my PhD, so school occupies most of my time. The rest is usually monopolized by my two jobs as a book editor and a caterer, but in between, I manage to carry on my life's goal: to rid the world of the greengrocer's apostrophe (seriously, folks - it's like an epidemic. Fight apostrophe abuse!). Fandoms: My first "grown-up" fandom was CSI; in that fandom I used to ship GSR first and foremost, but my love of slash has since moved NickGreg to the top of my list. I still like GSR, though, and will even read YoBling! from time to time. In my other fandom, Newsies, I ship Sprace, Blush, and Javid (do we see a slashy theme developing?); I can't stand Jack/Spot or Denton/David (just... ugh... wrong). I would have to say SpRace is my OTP there, largely thanks to Gabriel Damon's extreme yumminess... um, when he was like, 14. Oh, and I also read but don't write for The Office, Stargate:SG1, and RENT. Fics: My biggest project currently is Behind Blue Eyes, which has gone from being a fun little "newsies in college" piece to becoming a freaking epic. Seriously. Anyway, I update with as much regularity as I can manage (usually once a month, but the updates are pretty damn large by normal fic chapter standards). It's currently a SpRace fic, though other pairings are beginning to develop. Most - though not all - are slashy. [Update Feb. 2008: I'm still here, and I'm still working on this story when I can. It's not dead, just... um, semi-conscious. Yeah, that metaphor didn't really work, but suffice to say I'll post some new chapters as soon as possible. Likes: I like Italian food, Hitchcock movies, Kevin Smith, Friday night fish frys, flip-flops, MASH, the Midwest, musicals, Newsies, Cary Grant, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, classic rock, The Office, and baseball (go Brewers!). I apparently also like parentheses (at least today), since I used them about a zillion times in this profile... Dislikes: I hate dirty fingernails, George W. Bush, prejudiced people in general and homophobes in particular, Barry Bonds, people who use poor grammar (especially when they don't know the difference between you're and your, to and too, and their and there and they're), and fanfic writers who fall into any of the following categories: 1) CSI writers who have Sara casually call Grissom "Gil," 2) any writers who spell characters' names wrong (Sarah Sidle? Spot Collins?), 3) RENT writers who give the characters children, 4) any writers who say in their summary that their story sucks (um, and I want to read it then because why?), and 5) Newsies writers who overuse the 1899 dialect (although to me, almost any use of it at all is overuse). Thanks: Thanks go to my lovely sisters who preview for me: aeneckar21000, who betas BBE chapters for me (love you despite the weird HP quote addiction), and guess19, who got me hooked on CSI to start with (love you even though you're not obsessed with Newsies... teal)! Quotes to live by: "People place their hand on the Bible and swear to uphold the Constitution, they don't put their hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible." "Meanwhile, Aunt Martha, having taken a tramp in the woods, is lying in a ditch at the edge of town." "Love makes you do the wacky." During the filming of Streetcar Named Desire (1951), in the garden of Vivien Leigh's mansion, David Niven discovered Brando and Laurence Olivier swimming in the pool. Olivier was kissing Brando. "I turned my back to them and went back inside to join Vivien," Niven said. "I'm sure she knew what was going on, but she made no mention of it. Nor did I. One must be sophisticated about such matters in life." "Bless me, what do they teach them in these schools?" And that's all, folks. Over and out. | |||||||||
